Wisdom 6

1 Wisdom is better than power, and a prudent man is better than a powerful one.	1 Ecoutez donc, rois, et comprenez! Instruisez-vous, juges des confins de la terre!
2 Therefore, hear, O kings, and understand; learn, you judges of the ends of the earth.	2 Prêtez l'oreille, vous qui dominez sur la multitude, qui vous enorgueillissez de foules de nations!
3 Listen closely, you who hold the attention of the crowds, and who please yourselves by disturbing the nations.	3 Car c'est le Seigneur qui vous a donné la domination et le Très-Haut le pouvoir, c'est lui quiexaminera vos oeuvres et scrutera vos desseins.
4 For power has been given to you from the Lord and strength from the Most High, who will examine your works and scrutinize your thoughts.	4 Si donc, étant serviteurs de son royaume, vous n'avez pas jugé droitement, ni observé la loi, ni suivila volonté de Dieu,
5 For, when you were ministers of his kingdom, you did not judge correctly, nor keep the law of justice, nor walk according to the will of God.	5 il fondra sur vous d'une manière terrifiante et rapide. Un jugement inexorable s'exerce en effet surles gens haut placés;
6 Horribly and quickly he will appear to you, because he will make a severe judgment for those who are in charge.	6 au petit, par pitié, on pardonne, mais les puissants seront examinés puissamment.
7 For, to the little, great mercy is granted, but the powerful will endure powerful torment.	7 Car le Maître de tous ne recule devant personne, la grandeur ne lui en impose pas; petits et grands,c'est lui qui les a faits et de tous il prend un soin pareil,
8 For the Lord will not exempt anyone’s character, nor will he stand in awe of anyone’s greatness, because he himself made the little and the great, and he is equally concerned for everyone.	8 mais une enquête sévère attend les forts.
9 But a powerful torture pursues the powerful.	9 C'est donc à vous, souverains, que s'adressent mes paroles, pour que vous appreniez la sagesse etévitiez les fautes;
10 Therefore, O kings, these, my words, are for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not perish.	10 car ceux qui observent saintement les choses saintes seront reconnus saints, et ceux qui s'enlaissent instruire y trouveront leur défense.
11 For those who have justly preserved justice will be justified, and those who have learned these things will find what to answer.	11 Désirez donc mes paroles, aspirez à elles et vous serez instruits.
12 Therefore, desire my words, love them, and you will have instruction.	12 La Sagesse est brillante, elle ne se flétrit pas. Elle se laisse facilement contempler par ceux quil'aiment, elle se laisse trouver par ceux qui la cherchent.
13 Wisdom is pure and never fades away, and is easily seen by those who love her and found by those who seek her.	13 Elle prévient ceux qui la désirent en se faisant connaître la première.
14 She anticipates those who desire her, so that she first reveals herself to them.	14 Qui se lève tôt pour la chercher n'aura pas à peiner: il la trouvera assise à sa porte.
15 Whoever awakens early to seek her, will not labor, for he will find her sitting at his door.	15 Méditer sur elle est en effet la perfection de l'intelligence, et qui veille à cause d'elle sera viteexempt de soucis.
16 Therefore, by thinking about her, understanding is perfected, and whoever remains watchful for her, will quickly be secure.	16 Car ceux qui sont dignes d'elle, elle-même va partout les chercher et sur les sentiers elle leurapparaît avec bienveillance, à chaque pensée elle va au-devant d'eux.
17 For she goes about seeking such as are worthy of her, and she reveals herself to them cheerfully in the ways, and meets them with all foresight.	17 Car son commencement, c'est le désir très vrai de l'instruction, le souci de l'instruction, c'estl'amour,
18 For the very true beginning of her is the desire for instruction.	18 l'amour, c'est l'observation de ses lois, l'attention aux lois, c'est la garantie de l'incorruptibilité,
19 Therefore, the zeal for instruction is love, and love is the keeping of her laws, and the keeping of her laws is the perfection of incorruptibility,	19 et l'incorruptibilité fait qu'on est près de Dieu;
20 while incorruptibility makes us near to God.	20 ainsi le désir de la Sagesse conduit à la royauté.
21 And so, the desire for wisdom leads to an everlasting kingdom.	21 Si donc trônes et sceptres vous plaisent, souverains des peuples, honorez la Sagesse, afin de régnerà jamais.
22 If, therefore, your delight is in thrones and scepters, O kings of the people, love wisdom, so that you may reign forever;	22 Ce qu'est la Sagesse et comment elle est née, je vais l'exposer; je ne vous cacherai pas lesmystères, mais je suivrai ses traces depuis le début de son origine, je mettrai sa connaissance en pleine lumière,sans m'écarter de la vérité.
23 love the light of wisdom, all you who lead the peoples.	23 Oh! je ne ferai pas route avec l'envie desséchante: elle n'a rien de commun avec la Sagesse.
24 But what wisdom is, and how she was made, I will report, and I will not hide the mysteries of God from you, but I will investigate her from the beginning of her birth, and I will place the knowledge of her in the light, and will not pass over the truth.	24 Une multitude de sages est le salut du monde, un roi sensé fait la stabilité du peuple.
25 Neither will I hold to the path that dwindles away with envy, because such a man will not partake in wisdom.	25 Laissez-vous donc instruire par mes paroles: vous y trouverez profit.
26 For the proliferation of the wise is sanity for the world, and a wise king is the mainstay of the people.
27 Therefore, receive instruction by my words, and it will benefit you.
