Tobit 5

1 Then Tobias responded to his father, and he said: “I will do everything just as you have instructed me, father.	1 Allora rispose [Tobia] al suo padre, e disse: o padre mio, io farò ciò che tu m' hai comandato.
2 But I do not know how to obtain this money. He does not know me, and I do not know him. What proof shall I give to him? And I do not know any part of the way, which leads to that place.”	2 Ma come racquisterò io questa pecunia? Io non soe colui, ed egli non mi conosce (nè io lui); che segnale gli darò io? poi ch' io non so pure la via, onde io vada a lui.
3 Then his father answered him, and he said: “Indeed, I have a written agreement about that in my possession, which, when you show it to him, he will immediately repay it.	3 Allora il padre suo sì li rispose, e disse: io hoe appo me la scritta di sua mano; la quale poi che gliela avrai mostrata, incontanente la ti renderà.
4 But go out now, and inquire after some faithful man, who would go with you to keep you safe in return for his wages, so that you may receive it while I am still alive.”	4 Ma va ora, e cerca per uno uomo fedele che venga teco, pagandolo tu della sua fatica; acciò che insino ch' io vivo, tu l' acquisti.
5 Then Tobias, departing, found a splendid young man, standing girded and seemingly ready for travel.	5 Allora essendo uscito fuori Tobia, trovò uno giovane chiaro, il quale era alzato, e quasi apparecchiato a camminare.
6 And not knowing that he was an Angel of God, he greeted him, and he said, “Where are you from, good young man?”	6 E non sapendo (Tobia) ch' egli fosse l'angiolo di Dio, sì il salutò, e disse: onde se' tu, o buono uomo?
7 And so he answered, “From the sons of Israel.” And Tobias said to him, “Do you know the way that leads to the region of the Medes?”	7 Ed egli rispose: de' figliuoli d' Israel. E Tobia gli disse: sai tu la via la quale va nella regione de' Medi?
8 And he answered: “I know it. And I have frequently walked through all its paths, and I stayed with Gabael, our brother, who lives in Rages, a city of the Medes, which is situated at the mount of Ecbatana.”	8 Ed egli rispose, e disse di sì; e tutti quelli viaggi ispesso hoe camminato, e sì sono stato con Gabelo nostro fratello che dimora in Rages, cittade de' Medi, la quale è posta nel monte di Ecbatanis.
9 Tobias said to him, “I implore you, wait here for me, until I tell these same things to my father.”	9 Al quale disse Tobia: deh io ti prego che tu m'aspetti uno poco, insino ch' io lo dica al mio padre.
10 Then Tobias, entering, revealed all these things to his father. Upon which, his father, in admiration, asked that he would enter to him.	10 E allora entrò Tobia al suo padre, e narrolli tutte queste cose. Sopra le quali cose maravigliandosi il padre, il pregoe che il menasse a lui.
11 And so, entering, he greeted him, and he said, “May gladness be always with you.”	11 Ed entrato, lo salutoe e dissegli: sempre abbi tu allegrezza.
12 And Tobit said, “What kind of gladness will be for me, since I sit in darkness and do not see the light of heaven?”	12 E Tobia disse: quale allegrezza posso io avere, ch' io seggio in tenebre, e non veggio il lume del cielo?
13 And the young man said to him, “Be steadfast in soul. Your cure from God is near.”	13 Al quale disse il giovane: sia d'animo forte, chè tostamente sarai liberato da Dio.
14 And so Tobit said to him, “Are you able to lead my son to Gabael in Rages, a city of the Medes? And when you return, I will pay you your wages.”	14 E Tobia disse: or potrai tu menare il mio figliuolo a Gabelo in Rages cittade de' Medi? E quando tu sarai tornato, io te ne renderò la tua mercede.
15 And the Angel said to him, “I will lead him, and I will bring him back to you.”	15 E l'angelo disse: io il menerò e rimenerò (sano e salvo).
16 And Tobit responded to him, “I ask you to tell me: which family or which tribe are you from?”	16 Al quale disse Tobia: io ti prego che tu mi dica, di quale casa tu se', e di quale schiatta.
17 And Raphael the Angel said, “Do you seek the family of the one you hire, or else the hired hand himself, to go with your son?	17 Al quale disse l'angelo Rafaele: di', addimandi tu la generazione del mercenario, ovver il mercenario che vada con lo tuo figliuolo?
18 But, lest perhaps I cause you to worry: I am Azariah, the son of Hananiah the great.”	18 Ma per non farti pensoso, sappi ch' io sono Azaria, figliuolo del grande Anania.
19 And Tobit responded, “You are from a great family. But I ask you, do not be angry that I wanted to know your family.”	19 E Tobia gli rispose: tu sei di grande schiatta; ma io ti prego che non t' adiri, perchè io abbia voluto (sapere e) conoscere la tua nazione.
20 But the Angel said to him, “I will lead your son safely, and I will bring him back safely to you.”	20 E l'angiolo disse: io menerò sano il tuo figliuolo, e sano lo rimeneroe.
21 And so Tobit, answering, said, “May you walk well, and may God be with you on your journey, and may his Angel accompany you.”	21 E Tobia disse: bene andate voi, e sia Iddio nel vostro viaggio, e l'angiolo suo v' accompagni.
22 Then, when all things were ready which were to be carried on their journey, Tobias said farewell to his father, and to his mother, and the two of them walked together.	22 Allora poi che tutte le cose furono apparecchiate, ch' erano da portare per la via, Tobia prese commiato dal suo padre e dalla sua madre; e andarono amendue insieme.
23 And when they had set out, his mother began to weep, and to say: “You have taken the staff of our old age, and you have sent him away from us.	23 E quando loro furono andati, la madre incominciò a piagnere, e a dire: ha' ci tu tolto il bastone (e il sostegno) della nostra vecchiezza, e partendolo da noi ha' lo mandato altrove!
24 I wish that the money, for which you sent him, had never been.	24 Iddio volesse che questa pecunia non fosse mai istata, per la quale tu l' hai mandato!
25 For our poverty has been sufficient for us, so that we might count it as riches that we saw our son.”	25 Assai ci bastava la nostra povertà; sì che noi lo potevamo bene tenere per nostra ricchezza, pur potendo vedere il nostro figliuolo!
26 And Tobit said to her: “Do not weep. Our son will arrive safely, and he will return safely to us, and your eyes shall see him.	26 E Tobia gli disse: non piagnere, chè il figliuolo nostro tornerà sano e salvo a noi, e i tuoi occhi il vederanno.
27 For I believe that the good Angel of God accompanies him and that he orders all things well which occur around him, such that he will be returned to us with gladness.”	27 Imperciò ch' io credo che l'angiolo di Dio buono l'accompagnerà, e disporrà bene ciò che si farà intorno a lui, sì che con allegrezza si tornerà a noi.
28 At these words, his mother ceased weeping, and she was silent.	28 Per questo conforto si rimase la madre sua di piagnere, e istette cheta.
