Tobit 5

1 Then Tobias responded to his father, and he said: “I will do everything just as you have instructed me, father.	1 Então Tobias respondeu a seu pai: Tudo o que me ordenaste, eu o farei, meu pai.
2 But I do not know how to obtain this money. He does not know me, and I do not know him. What proof shall I give to him? And I do not know any part of the way, which leads to that place.”	2 Mas estou realmente sem saber como ir buscar esse dinheiro. Gabael não me conhece, e eu tampouco o conheço; que sinal lhe hei de dar? Não conheço nem mesmo o caminho por onde ir a essa terra.
3 Then his father answered him, and he said: “Indeed, I have a written agreement about that in my possession, which, when you show it to him, he will immediately repay it.	3 Seu pai disse-lhe: Tenho comigo o seu recibo; bastará que lho mostres, para que ele te devolva imediatamente o dinheiro.
4 But go out now, and inquire after some faithful man, who would go with you to keep you safe in return for his wages, so that you may receive it while I am still alive.”	4 Vai procurar um homem de confiança que te possa acompanhar, mediante uma retribuição. É preciso que recebas esse dinheiro enquanto ainda estou vivo.
5 Then Tobias, departing, found a splendid young man, standing girded and seemingly ready for travel.	5 Apenas saíra, Tobias encontrou um jovem de belo aspecto, equipado como para uma viagem.
6 And not knowing that he was an Angel of God, he greeted him, and he said, “Where are you from, good young man?”	6 Sem saber que se tratava de um anjo de Deus, ele o saudou e disse-lhe: De onde és tu, ó bom jovem?
7 And so he answered, “From the sons of Israel.” And Tobias said to him, “Do you know the way that leads to the region of the Medes?”	7 Ele respondeu: Sou israelita. Tobias perguntou-lhe: Conheces porventura o caminho para a Média?
8 And he answered: “I know it. And I have frequently walked through all its paths, and I stayed with Gabael, our brother, who lives in Rages, a city of the Medes, which is situated at the mount of Ecbatana.”	8 Oh, muito!, respondeu ele. Tenho percorrido freqüentemente esse caminho. Hospedei-me em casa de Gabael, nosso compatriota que habita em Ragés, na Média, cidade que está situada na montanha de Ecbátana.
9 Tobias said to him, “I implore you, wait here for me, until I tell these same things to my father.”	9 Tobias disse-lhe: Rogo-te que esperes por mim, enquanto vou anunciar isto a meu pai.
10 Then Tobias, entering, revealed all these things to his father. Upon which, his father, in admiration, asked that he would enter to him.	10 Tendo Tobias entrado e contado o sucedido ao seu pai, este ficou muito admirado e pediu que fizesse entrar o jovem.
11 And so, entering, he greeted him, and he said, “May gladness be always with you.”	11 Ele entrou e saudou a Tobit: A felicidade esteja contigo para sempre!
12 And Tobit said, “What kind of gladness will be for me, since I sit in darkness and do not see the light of heaven?”	12 Ao que Tobit respondeu: Que felicidade posso eu ter ainda? Estou nas trevas, sem poder ver a luz do céu.
13 And the young man said to him, “Be steadfast in soul. Your cure from God is near.”	13 O jovem replicou-lhe: Tem ânimo, porque é fácil a Deus curar-te!
14 And so Tobit said to him, “Are you able to lead my son to Gabael in Rages, a city of the Medes? And when you return, I will pay you your wages.”	14 Tobit disse-lhe: É verdade que poderás conduzir meu filho à casa de Gabael, em Ragés, na Média? Quando voltares, eu te retribuirei por isso.
15 And the Angel said to him, “I will lead him, and I will bring him back to you.”	15 Então o anjo disse-lhe: Eu o levarei até lá e to reconduzirei.
16 And Tobit responded to him, “I ask you to tell me: which family or which tribe are you from?”	16 Tobit então perguntou-lhe: Rogo-te que me digas de que família e de que tribo és tu?
17 And Raphael the Angel said, “Do you seek the family of the one you hire, or else the hired hand himself, to go with your son?	17 O anjo respondeu: Que é que procuras: a raça do servo, ou o próprio servo para acompanhar teu filho?
18 But, lest perhaps I cause you to worry: I am Azariah, the son of Hananiah the great.”	18 Mas, para tranqüilizar-te: eu sou Azarias, filho do grande Ananias.
19 And Tobit responded, “You are from a great family. But I ask you, do not be angry that I wanted to know your family.”	19 És de família distinta, respondeu Tobit. Rogo-te que não me queiras mal por ter querido conhecer tua origem.
20 But the Angel said to him, “I will lead your son safely, and I will bring him back safely to you.”	20 O anjo então disse: Conduzirei o teu filho são e salvo, e to trarei de novo são e salvo.
21 And so Tobit, answering, said, “May you walk well, and may God be with you on your journey, and may his Angel accompany you.”	21 Tobit respondeu: Boa viagem! Que Deus esteja em vosso caminho, e que o seu anjo vos acompanhe.
22 Then, when all things were ready which were to be carried on their journey, Tobias said farewell to his father, and to his mother, and the two of them walked together.	22 Fizeram em seguida suas bagagens, Tobias despediu-se de seu pai e de sua mãe e os dois viajantes partiram.
23 And when they had set out, his mother began to weep, and to say: “You have taken the staff of our old age, and you have sent him away from us.	23 Depois que partiram, sua mãe pôs-se a chorar: Tiraste-nos, disse ela, o bordão de nossa velhice, e o apartaste de nós.
24 I wish that the money, for which you sent him, had never been.	24 Prouvera a Deus que nunca tivesse havido esse dinheiro pelo qual o enviaste.
25 For our poverty has been sufficient for us, so that we might count it as riches that we saw our son.”	25 O pouco que temos nos bastava; a nossa riqueza era a vista de nosso filho.
26 And Tobit said to her: “Do not weep. Our son will arrive safely, and he will return safely to us, and your eyes shall see him.	26 Tobit respondeu-lhe: Não chores; nosso filho chegará são e salvo, e voltará também são e salvo para a nossa companhia; tu o verás com os teus olhos.
27 For I believe that the good Angel of God accompanies him and that he orders all things well which occur around him, such that he will be returned to us with gladness.”	27 Estou certo de que um bom anjo de Deus o acompanhará e disporá solicitamente tudo o que lhe diz respeito, de modo que ele tenha a alegria de voltar para nós.
28 At these words, his mother ceased weeping, and she was silent.	28 Ouvindo isso, sua mãe cessou de chorar e calou-se.
