CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINEL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
And David spoke to the Lord the words of this verse, in the day that the Lord freed him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.1 David dirigió al Señor las palabras de este canto, cuando el Señor lo libró de todos sus enemigos y de la mano de Saúl.
And he said: “The Lord is my rock, and my strength, and my Savior.2 El dijo: Yo te amo, Señor, mi fuerza
I will hope in him. God is my strong one, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. He lifts me up, and he is my refreshment. You, O my Savior, will free me from iniquity.3 Señor, mi Roca, mi fortaleza y mi libertador, mi Dios, el peñasco en que me refugio, mi escudo, mi fuerza salvadora, mi baluarte, mi salvador, que me libras de la violencia.
I will call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy; and I will be saved from my enemies.4 Yo invoco al Señor, que es digno de alabanza, y quedo a salvo de mis enemigos.
For the pangs of death have encircled me. The torrents of Belial have terrified me.5 Las olas de la Muerte me envolvieron, me aterraron los torrentes devastadores,
The ropes of Hell have encompassed me. The snares of death have intercepted me.6 me cercaron los lazos del Abismo, las redes de la Muerte llegaron hasta mí.
In my tribulation, I will call upon the Lord, and I will cry out to my God. And he will heed my voice from his temple, and my outcry will reach his ears.7 Pero en mi angustia invoqué al Señor, grité a mi Dios pidiendo auxilio, y él escuchó mi voz desde su Templo, mi grito llegó hasta sus oídos.
The earth was shaken, and it quaked. The foundations of the mountains were struck together and violently shaken, because he was angry with them.8 Entonces tembló y se tambaleó la tierra: vacilaron los fundamentos de las montañas, y se conmovieron a causa de su furor;
Smoke ascends from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth will devour; coals have been kindled by it.9 de su nariz se alzó una humareda, de su boca, un fuego abrasador, y arrojaba carbones encendidos.
He bent down the heavens, and it descended; and a fog was beneath his feet.10 El Señor inclinó el cielo, y descendió con un espeso nubarrón bajo sus pies;
And he climbed upon the cherubim, and he flew; and he slid upon the wings of the wind.11 montó en el Querubín y emprendió vuelo, planeando sobre las alas del viento.
He set darkness as a hiding place around himself, with waters sifted from the clouds of the heavens.12 Se envolvió en un manto de tinieblas; un oscuro aguacero y espesas nubes lo cubrían como un toldo;
By means of the brightness of his glance, coals of fire were kindled.13 las nubes se deshicieron en granizo y centellas al fulgor de su presencia.
The Lord will thunder from heaven; and the Most High will utter his voice.14 El Señor tronaba desde el cielo, el Altísimo hacía oír su voz;
He shot arrows, and he scattered them; lightning, and he consumed them.15 arrojó flechas y los dispersó, lanzó rayos y sembró la confusión.
And the overflow of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the globe were revealed, at the rebuke of the Lord, at the exhale of the breath of his fury.16 Al proferir tus amenazas, Señor, al soplar el vendaval de tu ira, aparecieron los cauces del mar y quedaron a la vista los cimientos del mundo.
He sent from on high, and he took me up. And he drew me out of many waters.17 El tendió su mano desde lo alto y me tomó, me sacó de las aguas caudalosas;
He freed me from my most powerful enemy and from those who had hated me. For they were too strong for me.18 me libró de mi enemigo poderoso, de adversarios más fuertes que yo.
He went before me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my firmament.19 Ellos me enfrentaron en un día nefasto, pero el Señor fue mi apoyo:
And he led me out to a wide-open place. He freed me, because I was pleasing to him.20 me sacó a un lugar espacioso, me libró, porque me ama.
The Lord will reward me according to my justice. And he will repay me according to the cleanness of my hands.21 El Señor me recompensó de mis manos:
For I have kept to the ways of the Lord, and I have not acted impiously before my God.22 porque seguí fielmente los caminos del Señor, y no me aparté de mi Dios, haciendo el mal;
For all his judgments are in my sight. And I have not removed his precepts from me.23 porque tengo presente todas sus decisiones y nunca me alejé de sus preceptos.
And I shall be perfect with him. And I shall guard myself from my own iniquity.24 Tuve ante él una conducta irreprochable y me esforcé por no ofenderlo.
And the Lord will recompense me according to my justice, and according to the cleanness of my hands in the sight of his eyes.25 El Señor me premió, porque yo era justo y era inocente ante sus ojos.
With the holy one, you will be holy, and with the strong one, you will be perfect.26 Tú eres bondadoso con los buenos y eres íntegro con el hombre intachable;
With the elect one, you will be elect, and with the perverse one, you will be perverse.27 eres sincero con los que son sinceros y te muestras astuto con los falsos.
And you will bring to salvation the poor people, and you will humble the exalted with your eyes.28 Porque tú salvas al pueblo oprimido y humillas los ojos altaneros:
For you are my lamp, O Lord. And you, O Lord, will illuminate my darkness.29 tú eres mi lámpara, Señor; Dios mío, tú iluminas mis tinieblas
For in you, I will run girded. In my God, I will leap over the wall.30 Contigo puedo atacar a un tropel; con mi Dios, puedo asaltar una muralla.
God, his way is immaculate; the eloquence of the Lord is an exacting fire. He is the shield of all who hope in him.31 El camino de Dios es perfecto, la promesa del Señor es digna de confianza. El Señor es un escudo para los que se refugian en él,
Who is God except the Lord? And who is strong except our God?32 porque ¿Quién es Dios fuera del Señor? ¿y quién es la Roca fuera de nuestro Dios?
God, he has girded me with fortitude, and he has made my way perfect:33 El es el Dios que me ciñe de valor y hace intachable mi camino;
making my feet like the feet of the stag, and stationing me upon my exalted places,34 el que me da la rapidez de un ciervo y me afianza en las alturas;
teaching my hands to do battle, and making my arms like a bow of brass.35 el que adiestra mis manos para la guerra y mis brazos para tender el arco de bronce.
You have given me the shield of your salvation. And your mildness has multiplied me.36 Me entregaste tu escudo victorioso y tu mano derecha me sostuvo; me engrandeciste con tu triunfo,
You will enlarge my steps under me, and my ankles will not fail.37 me hiciste dar largos pasos, y no se doblaron mis tobillos.
I will pursue my enemies, and crush them. And I will not turn back, until I consume them.38 Perseguí y alcancé a mis enemigos, no me volví hasta que fueron aniquilados;
I will consume them and break them apart, so that they cannot rise up; they will fall under my feet.39 los derroté y no pudieron rehacerse, quedaron abatidos bajo mis pies.
You have girded me with strength for the battle. Those who resisted me, you have bent down under me.40 Tú me ceñiste de valor para la lucha, doblegaste ante mí a mis agresores;
You have caused my enemies to turn their back to me; they have hatred for me, and I shall destroy them.41 pusiste en fuga a mis enemigos, y yo exterminé a mis adversarios.
They will cry out, and there will be no one to save; to the Lord, and he will not heed them.42 Imploraron, pero nadie los salvó; gritaban al Señor, pero no les respondía.
I will wipe them away like the dust of the earth. I will break them apart and crush them, like the mud of the streets.43 Los deshice como polvo de la tierra, los pisé como el barro de las calles.
You will save me from the contradictions of my people. You will preserve me to be the head of the Gentiles; a people I do not know shall serve me.44 Tú me libraste de un ejército incontable y me pusiste al frente de naciones: pueblos extraños son mis vasallos.
The sons of foreigners, who will resist me, at the hearing of the ear they will be obedient to me.45 Gente extranjera me rinde pleitesía; apenas me oyen nombrar, me prestan obediencia.
The foreigners flowed away, but they will be drawn together in their anguishes.46 Los extranjeros palidecen ante mí y, temblando, abandonan sus refugios.
The Lord lives, and my God is blessed. And the strong God of my salvation shall be exalted.47 ¡Viva el Señor! ¡Bendita sea mi Roca! ¡Glorificado sea Dios, la Roca de mi salvación,
God gives me vindication, and he casts down the peoples under me.48 el Dios que venga mis agravios y pone a los pueblos a mis pies!
He leads me away from my enemies, and he lifts me up from those who resist me. You will free me from the iniquitous man.49 Tú me liberas de mis enemigos, me haces triunfar de mis agresores y me libras del hombre violento.
Because of this, I will confess to you, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and I will sing to your name:50 Por eso te alabaré entre las naciones y cantaré, Señor, en honor de tu Nombre.
magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring forever.”51 El concede grandes victorias a su rey y trata con fidelidad a su Ungido. a David y a su descendencia para siempre.
