1 ויאמר אל תלמידיו אי אפשר שלא יבאו המכשלים אבל אוי לאיש אשר על ידו יבאו	1 He said to his disciples, 'Causes of fal ing are sure to come, but alas for the one through whom theyoccur!
2 נוח לו שיתלה פלח רכב על צוארו וישלך אל הים מאשר יכשיל את אחד מהקטנים wאלה	2 It would be better for such a person to be thrown into the sea with a mil stone round the neck than tobe the downfal of a single one of these little ones.
3 השמרו לנפשותיכם אם יחטא לך אחיך הוכח לו ואם ינחם סלח לו	3 Keep watch on yourselves! 'If your brother does something wrong, rebuke him and, if he is sorry,forgive him.
4 ואם יחטא לך שבע פעמים ביום ושב אליך שבע פעמים ביום ואמר נחמתי וסלחת לו	4 And if he wrongs you seven times a day and seven times comes back to you and says, "I am sorry,"you must forgive him.'
5 ויאמרו השליחים אל האדון הוסף לנו אמונה	5 The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith.'
6 ויאמר האדון לו היתה לכם אמונה כגרגר החרדל אז תאמרו אל התות הזה העקר והנטע בתוך הים וישמע לכם	6 The Lord replied, 'If you had faith like a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, "Be uprootedand planted in the sea," and it would obey you.
7 מי הוא זה מכם ולו עבד חרש או רעה אשר בבאו מן השדה יאמר אליו מהר גשה הנה והסב	7 'Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep, would say to him when he returned from thefields, "Come and have your meal at once"?
8 הלא יאמר אליו הכן לי ארוחת הערב וחגר מתניך ושרתני עד אם כליתי לאכל ולשתות ואחר תאכל ותשתה גם אתה	8 Would he not be more likely to say, "Get my supper ready; fasten your belt and wait on me while I eatand drink. You yourself can eat and drink afterwards"?
9 הגם יתן תודה לעבד על עשתו את אשר צוהו אמרתי לא יתן	9 Must he be grateful to the servant for doing what he was told?
10 ככה גם אתם אחרי עשותכם את כל אשר צויתם אמרו עבדים אין מועיל בם אנחנו כי רק את המטל עלינו לעשות עשינו	10 So with you: when you have done al you have been told to do, say, "We are useless servants: wehave done no more than our duty." '
11 ויהי בנסעו ירושלים והוא עבר בתוך שמרון והגליל	11 Now it happened that on the way to Jerusalem he was travel ing in the borderlands of Samaria andGalilee.
12 ויבא אל כפר אחד ויפגעהו עשרה אנשים מצרעים והם עמדים מרחוק	12 As he entered one of the villages, ten men suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to meet him.They stood some way off
13 וישאו את קולם לאמר ישוע מורה חננו	13 and cal ed to him, 'Jesus! Master! Take pity on us.'
14 וירא אותם ויאמר אליהם לכו והראו אל הכהנים ויהי בלכתם ויטהרו	14 When he saw them he said, 'Go and show yourselves to the priests.' Now as they were going awaythey were cleansed.
15 ואחד מהם בראתו כי נרפא וישב וישבח את האלהים בקול גדול	15 Finding himself cured, one of them turned back praising God at the top of his voice
16 ויפל על פניו לרגליו ויודה לו והוא היה שמרוני	16 and threw himself prostrate at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan.
17 ויען ישוע ויאמר הלא העשרה טהרו והתשעה איה הם	17 This led Jesus to say, 'Were not al ten made clean? The other nine, where are they?
18 האם לא נמצא אשר שב לתת כבוד לאלהים זולתי הנכרי הזה	18 It seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except this foreigner.'
19 ויאמר אליו קום ולך אמונתך הושיעה לך	19 And he said to the man, 'Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.'
20 וישאלהו הפרושים מתי תבוא מלכות האלהים ויען אתם לאמר מלכות האלהים לא תבוא במראה עינים	20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was to come, he gave them this answer, 'Thecoming of the kingdom of God does not admit of observation
21 ולא יאמרו הנה פה או הנה שם כי מלכות האלהים הנה בקרבכם היא	21 and there will be no one to say, "Look, it is here! Look, it is there!" For look, the kingdom of God isamong you.'
22 ויאמר אל התלמידים ימים באים והתאויתם לראות יום אחד מימי בן האדם ולא תראו	22 He said to the disciples, 'A time wil come when you wil long to see one of the days of the Son ofman and wil not see it.
23 ואם יאמרו אליכם הנה שם הנה פה אל תלכו ואל תרוצו אחריהם	23 They will say to you, "Look, it is there!" or, "Look, it is here!" Make no move; do not set off in pursuit;
24 כי כברק אשר יברק מקצה השמים ויאיר עד קצה השמים כן יהיה בן האדם ביומו	24 for as the lightning flashing from one part of heaven lights up the other, so wil be the Son of manwhen his Day comes.
25 אך בראשונה צריך הוא לסבל הרבה ולהמאס מן הדור הזה	25 But first he is destined to suffer grievously and be rejected by this generation.
26 וכאשר היה נח כן יהיה בימי בן האדם	26 'As it was in Noah's day, so wil it also be in the days of the Son of man.
27 אכלו ושתו נשאו נשים והשיאו נשים לאנשים עד היום אשר בא נח אל התבה ויבא המבול וישחת את כלם	27 People were eating and drinking, marrying wives and husbands, right up to the day Noah went intothe ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all.
28 וכאשר היה בימי לוט אכל ושתה קנה ומכר נטע ובנה	28 It wil be the same as it was in Lot's day: people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, plantingand building,
29 ויהי ביום אשר יצא לוט מסדום וימטר אש וגפרית מן השמים וישחת את כלם	29 but the day Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and it destroyed them all.
30 ככה יהיה ביום אשר יגלה בן האדם	30 It wil be the same when the day comes for the Son of man to be revealed.
31 ביום ההוא איש אשר יהיה על הגג וכליו בבית אל ירד לשאת אתם ואיש אשר בשדה אל ישב הביתה	31 'When that Day comes, no one on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must come downto col ect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back.
32 זכרו את אשת לוט	32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 המבקש למלט את נפשו יאבדנה ואשר יאבד אתה יהיה	33 Anyone who tries to preserve his life wil lose it; and anyone who loses it wil keep it safe.
34 אני אמר לכם בלילה ההוא שנים יהיו במטה אחת האחד יאסף והאחר יעזב	34 I tel you, on that night, when two are in one bed, one wil be taken, the other left;
35 שתים תהיינה טחנות יחד האחת תאסף והאחרת תעזב	35 when two women are grinding corn together, one wil be taken, the other left.'
36 שנים יהיו בשדה ונאסף האחד והאחר יעזב	36
37 ויענו ויאמרו אליו איה זאת אדנינו ויאמר אליהם באשר הפגר שם יקבצו הנשרים	37 The disciples spoke up and asked, 'Where, Lord?' He said, 'Where the body is, there too will thevultures gather.'
