| 1 Alzai i miei occhi, e stava osservando: ed ecco un uomo, che avea in mano una corda da misuratore. | 1 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! |
| 2 E io dissi: Dove vai tu? Ed eglimi disse: Vo' a misurare Gerusalemme per vedere quanta sia la sua larghezza,e quanta la sua lunghezza. | 2 Then I said, "Where are you going?" And he said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length." |
| 3 Quand' ecco uscì fuora l'Angelo,che parlava in me, e l'altro Angelo andò incontro a lui, | 3 And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him, |
| 4 E gli disse: Corri, parla a quel giovine, e digli: Senza mura sarà abitata Gerusalemme per la gran quantità di uomini, e di bestie, che avrà nel suo seno. | 4 and said to him, "Run, say to that young man, 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and cattle in it. |
| 5 Ed io sarò ad essa, dice il Signore, una muraglia di fuoco, che la circonderà; ed io sarò glorificato in mezzo a lei. | 5 For I will be to her a wall of fire round about, says the LORD, and I will be the glory within her.'" |
| 6 O, o fuggite dalla terra settentrionale, dice il Signore, dappoiché io vi ho dispersi ai quattro venti del mondo, dice il Signore. | 6 Ho! ho! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, says the LORD. |
| 7 Fuggi tu, o Sionne, tu che abiti presso la figlia di Babilonia. | 7 Ho! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. |
| 8 Perocché cosi dice il Signore degli eserciti: Dopo la (vostra) gloria egli mi spedirà alle genti, le quali vi spogliarono: perocché chi tocca voi, tocca la pupilla dell'occhio mio. | 8 For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: |
| 9 Ecco, che io stendo sopra di loro la mia mano, ed elleno saranno preda di quelli, che furono schiavi loro; e voi conoscerete come il Signore degli eserciti mi ha mandato. | 9 "Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. |
| 10 Canta inni di laude, e sta' lieta, o figliuola di Sion: perocché ecco, che io vengo, ed abiterò in mezzo a te, dice il Signore. | 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for lo, I come and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD. |
| 11 E si accosteranno molte nazioni al Signore in quel giorno, e saranno mio popolo, ed io abiterò in mezzo a te, e conoscerai come il Signore degli eserciti mi ha mandato a te. | 11 And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. |
| 12 E il Signore possederà Giuda suo retaggio nella terra santa, ed eleggerà di nuovo Gerusalemme. | 12 And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem." |
| 13 Tutta la carne si stia in silenzio dinanzi al Signore, perchè egli si è svegliato e mosso dalla sua mansione | 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling. |
