KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.1 Of understanding, for Ethan the Ezrahite.
For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.2 The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.
I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,3 For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.
Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.4 I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:
And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.5 Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.
For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?6 The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints.
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.7 For who in the clouds can be compared to the Lord: or who among the sons of God shall be like to God?
O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?8 God, who is glorified in the assembly of the saints: great and terrible above all them that are about him.
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.9 O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.
Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.10 Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof.
The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.11 Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.
The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.12 Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:
Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.13 the north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name:
Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.14 thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted:
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.15 justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face:
In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.16 blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance:
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.17 and in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted.
For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.18 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted.
Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.19 For our protection is of the Lord, and of our king the holy one of Israel.
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:20 Then thou spokest in a vision to thy saints, and saidst: I have laid help upon one that is mighty, and have exalted one chosen out of my people.
With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.21 I have found David my servant: with my holy oil I have anointed him.
The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.22 For my hand shall help him: and my arm shall strengthen him.
And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.23 The enemy shall have no advantage over him: nor the son of iniquity have power to hurt him.
But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.24 And I will cut down his enemies before his face; and them that hate him I will put to flight.
I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.25 And my truth and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.26 And I will set his hand in the sea; and his right hand in the rivers.
Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.27 He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation.
My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.28 And I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.29 I will keep my mercy for him for ever: and my covenant faithful to him.
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;30 And I will make his seed to endure for evermore: and his throne as the days of heaven.
If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;31 And if his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments:
Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.32 If they profane my justices: and keep not my commandments:
Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.33 I will visit their iniquities with a rod: and their sins with stripes.
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.34 But my mercy I will not take away from him: nor will I suffer my truth to fail.
Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.35 Neither will I profane my covenant: and the words that proceed from my mouth I will not make void.
His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.36 Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David:
It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.37 his seed shall endure for ever.
But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.38 And his throne as the sun before me: and as the moon perfect for ever, and a faithful witness in heaven.
Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.39 But thou hast rejected and despised: thou hast been angry with thy anointed.
Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.40 Thou hast overthrown the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his sanctuary on the earth.
All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.41 Thou hast broken down all his hedges: thou hast made his strength fear.
Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.42 All that pass by the way have robbed him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.43 Thou hast set up the right hand of them that oppress him: thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.44 Thou hast turned away the help of his sword; and hast not assisted him in battle.
The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.45 Thou hast made his purification to cease: and thou hast cast his throne down to the ground.
How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?46 Thou hast shortened the days of his time: thou hast covered him with confusion.
Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?47 How long, O Lord, turnest thou away unto the end? shall thy anger burn like fire?
What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.48 Remember what my substance is for hast thou made all the children of men in vain?
Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth?49 Who is the man that shall live, and not see death: that shall deliver his soul from the hand of hell?
Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;50 Lord, where are thy ancient mercies, according to what thou didst swear to David in thy truth?
Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.51 Be mindful, O Lord, of the reproach of thy servants (which I have held in my bosom) of many nations:
Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.52 Wherewith thy enemies have reproached, O Lord; wherewith they have reproached the change of thy anointed.
Blessed be the Lord for evermore. So be it. So be it.
