Psalms 143

1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.	1 Salmo. Di Davide. Ascolta, Signore, la mia preghiera; porgi l'orecchio alla mia supplica, nella tua fedeltà; esaudiscimi, nella tua giustizia.
2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.	2 Non entrare in giudizio con il tuo servo, poiché nessun vivente risulta giusto al tuo cospetto.
3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.	3 Sì, il nemico ha perseguitato l'anima mia, ha prostrato a terra la mia vita, mi ha relegato in luoghi tenebrosi, come i morti dei tempi lontani.
4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.	4 Vien meno in me il mio spirito, nel mio interno si strugge il mio cuore.
5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.	5 Ricordo i giorni passati, medito ogni tua azione; rifletto sulle opere delle tue mani.
6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.	6 Protendo verso di te le mie mani, come una terra riarsa è protesa verso di te l'anima mia.
7 Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.	7 Fa' presto: rispondimi, Signore; viene meno il mio spirito. Non nascondere da me il tuo volto, perché io non sia accomunato a quelli che discendono nella fossa.
8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.	8 Fammi udire al mattino la tua misericordia, poiché in te confido. Fammi conoscere la via da percorrere: sì, verso di te elevo l'anima mia.
9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.	9 Liberami, Signore, dai miei nemici: verso di te mi rifugio.
10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.	10 Insegnami a fare la tua volontà, perché tu sei il mio Dio; il tuo spirito buono sia la mia guida verso una terra piana.
11 Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.	11 Per amore del tuo nome mi darai vita, Signore; per la tua clemenza farai uscire dall'angustia l'anima mia.
12 And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.	12 Per la tua misericordia sterminerai i miei nemici, e tutti quelli che avversano l'anima mia tu li annienterai, poiché io sono tuo servo.
