πασα σοφια παρα κυριου και μετ' αυτου εστιν εις τον αιωνα | 1 All wisdom comes from the LORD and with him it remains forever. |
αμμον θαλασσων και σταγονας υετου και ημερας αιωνος τις εξαριθμησει | 2 The sand of the seashore, the drops of rain, the days of eternity: who can number these? |
υψος ουρανου και πλατος γης και αβυσσον και σοφιαν τις εξιχνιασει | 3 Heaven's height, earth's breadth, the depths of the abyss: who can explore these? |
προτερα παντων εκτισται σοφια και συνεσις φρονησεως εξ αιωνος | 4 Before all things else wisdom was created; and prudent understanding, from eternity. |
- | 5 To whom has wisdom's root been revealed? Who knows her subtleties? |
ριζα σοφιας τινι απεκαλυφθη και τα πανουργευματα αυτης τις εγνω | 6 There is but one, wise and truly awe-inspiring, seated upon his throne: |
- | 7 It is the LORD; he created her, has seen her and taken note of her. |
εις εστιν σοφος φοβερος σφοδρα καθημενος επι του θρονου αυτου | 8 He has poured her forth upon all his works, upon every living thing according to his bounty; he has lavished her upon his friends. |
κυριος αυτος εκτισεν αυτην και ειδεν και εξηριθμησεν αυτην και εξεχεεν αυτην επι παντα τα εργα αυτου | 9 Fear of the LORD is glory and splendor, gladness and a festive crown. |
μετα πασης σαρκος κατα την δοσιν αυτου και εχορηγησεν αυτην τοις αγαπωσιν αυτον | 10 Fear of the LORD warms the heart, giving gladness and joy and length of days. |
φοβος κυριου δοξα και καυχημα και ευφροσυνη και στεφανος αγαλλιαματος | 11 He who fears the LORD will have a happy end; even on the day of his death he will be blessed. |
φοβος κυριου τερψει καρδιαν και δωσει ευφροσυνην και χαραν και μακροημερευσιν | 12 The beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD, which is formed with the faithful in the womb. |
τω φοβουμενω τον κυριον ευ εσται επ' εσχατων και εν ημερα τελευτης αυτου ευλογηθησεται | 13 With devoted men was she created from of old, and with their children her beneficence abides. |
αρχη σοφιας φοβεισθαι τον κυριον και μετα πιστων εν μητρα συνεκτισθη αυτοις | 14 Fullness of wisdom is fear of the LORD; she inebriates men with her fruits. |
μετα ανθρωπων θεμελιον αιωνος ενοσσευσεν και μετα του σπερματος αυτων εμπιστευθησεται | 15 Her entire house she fills with choice foods, her granaries with her harvest. |
πλησμονη σοφιας φοβεισθαι τον κυριον και μεθυσκει αυτους απο των καρπων αυτης | 16 Wisdom's garland is fear of the LORD, with blossoms of peace and perfect health. |
παντα τον οικον αυτων εμπλησει επιθυμηματων και τα αποδοχεια απο των γενηματων αυτης | 17 Knowledge and full understanding she showers down; she heightens the glory of those who possess her. |
στεφανος σοφιας φοβος κυριου αναθαλλων ειρηνην και υγιειαν ιασεως | 18 The root of wisdom is fear of the LORD; her branches are length of days. |
και ειδεν και εξηριθμησεν αυτην επιστημην και γνωσιν συνεσεως εξωμβρησεν και δοξαν κρατουντων αυτης ανυψωσεν | 19 One cannot justify unjust anger; anger plunges a man to his downfall. |
ριζα σοφιας φοβεισθαι τον κυριον και οι κλαδοι αυτης μακροημερευσις | 20 A patient man need stand firm but for a time, and then contentment comes back to him. |
- | 21 For a while he holds back his words, then the lips of many herald his wisdom. |
ου δυνησεται θυμος αδικος δικαιωθηναι η γαρ ροπη του θυμου αυτου πτωσις αυτω | 22 Among wisdom's treasures is the paragon of prudence; but fear of the LORD is an abomination to the sinner. |
εως καιρου ανθεξεται μακροθυμος και υστερον αυτω αναδωσει ευφροσυνη | 23 If you desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the LORD will bestow her upon you; |
εως καιρου κρυψει τους λογους αυτου και χειλη πολλων εκδιηγησεται συνεσιν αυτου | 24 For fear of the LORD is wisdom and culture; loyal humility is his delight. |
εν θησαυροις σοφιας παραβολαι επιστημης βδελυγμα δε αμαρτωλω θεοσεβεια | 25 Be not faithless to the fear of the LORD, nor approach it with duplicity of heart. |
επιθυμησας σοφιαν διατηρησον εντολας και κυριος χορηγησει σοι αυτην | 26 Play not the hypocrite before men; over your lips keep watch. |
σοφια γαρ και παιδεια φοβος κυριου και η ευδοκια αυτου πιστις και πραοτης | 27 Exalt not yourself lest you fall and bring upon you dishonor; |
μη απειθησης φοβω κυριου και μη προσελθης αυτω εν καρδια δισση | 28 For then the LORD will reveal your secrets and publicly cast you down, |
μη υποκριθης εν στομασιν ανθρωπων και εν τοις χειλεσιν σου προσεχε | 29 Because you approached the fear of the LORD with your heart full of guile. |
