Leviticus 11

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Aronne:
2 Say to the children of Israel: These are the animals which you are to eat of all the living things of the earth.	2 "Parlate ai figli d'Israele: Questi sono gli animali che mangerete fra tutti quelli che sono sopra la terra:
3 Whatsoever hath the hoof divided, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, you shall eat.	3 ogni ruminante che ha lo zoccolo spaccato e l'unghia divisa.
4 But whatsoever cheweth indeed the cud, and hath a hoof, but divideth it not, as the camel, and others, that you shall not eat, but shall reckon it among the unclean.	4 Soltanto questi non mangerete fra i ruminanti e fra gli animali dallo zoccolo spaccato: il cammello, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impuro per voi;
5 The cherogrillus which cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof, is unclean.	5 l'irace, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impuro per voi;
6 The hare also: for that too cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof.	6 la lepre, perché è ruminante, ma non ha lo zoccolo spaccato, è impura per voi;
7 And the swine, which, though it divideth the hoof, cheweth not the cud.	7 il maiale, perché ha lo zoccolo spaccato e l'unghia divisa ma non è un ruminante, è impuro per voi.
8 The flesh of these you shall not eat, nor shall you touch their carcasses, because they are unclean to you.	8 Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri; sono impuri per voi.
9 These are the things that breed in the waters, and which it is lawful to eat. All that hath fins, and scales, as well in the sea, as in the rivers, and the pools, you shall eat.	9 Fra tutti gli animali che si trovano nell'acqua questi mangerete: tutti quelli che hanno pinne e squame, nelle acque dei mari e dei fiumi;
10 But whatsoever hath not fins and scales, of those things that move and live in the waters, shall be an abomination to you,	10 tutti quelli che non hanno pinne e squame, nei mari e nei fiumi, ogni biscia d'acqua e tutti gli esseri viventi che si trovano nell'acqua sono abominevoli per voi.
11 And detestable : their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall avoid.	11 Essi sono abominevoli e non mangerete della loro carne e terrete in abominio i loro cadaveri.
12 All that have not fins and scales, in the waters, shall be unclean.	12 Tutti gli animali acquatici che non hanno pinne e squame sono un abominio per voi.
13 Of birds these are they which you must not eat, and which are to be avoided by you: The eagle, and the griffon, and the osprey,	13 Questi considererete abominevoli fra gli uccelli e non mangerete perché sono un abominio: l'aquila, l'ossifraga e la strige,
14 And the kite, and the vulture, according to their kind,	14 il nibbio e le varie specie di rapaci;
15 And all that is of the raven kind, according to their likeness.	15 le varie specie di corvi;
16 The ostrich, and the owl, and the larus, and the hawk according to its kind.	16 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e le varie specie di sparvieri;
17 The screech owl, and the cormorant, and the ibis,	17 il gufo, il martin pescatore e l'ibis;
18 And the swan, and the bittern, and the porphyrion,	18 il cigno e il pellicano e la fòlaga;
19 The heron, and the charadrion according to its kind, the houp also, and the bat.	19 la cicogna, le varie specie di aironi, l'upupa e il pipistrello.
20 Of things that fly, whatsoever goeth upon four feet, shall be abominable to you.	20 Ogni insetto alato che cammina su quattro zampe è un abominio per voi.
21 But whatsoever walketh upon four feet, but hath the legs behind longer, wherewith it hoppeth upon the earth,	21 Soltanto questi mangerete fra tutti gli insetti alati che camminano su quattro zampe: quelli che hanno due zampe sopra i piedi per saltare sopra la terra;
22 That you shall eat, as the bruchus in its kind, the attacus, and ophiomachus, and the locust, every one according to their kind.	22 fra di essi potrete mangiare: ogni specie di locuste, ogni specie di cavallette, ogni specie di grilli e ogni specie di acridi.
23 But of dying things whatsoever hath four feet only, shall be an abomination to you:	23 Ogni altro insetto alato che ha quattro zampe è un abominio per voi.
24 And whosoever shall touch the carcasses of them, shall be defiled, and shall be unclean until the evening:	24 Da questi animali contrarrete impurità; chiunque toccherà i loro cadaveri sarà impuro fino a sera;
25 And if it be necessary that he carry any of these things when they are dead, he shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until the sun set.	25 chiunque solleva il loro cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera.
26 Every beast that hath a hoof, but divideth it not, nor cheweth the cud, shall be unclean: and he that toucheth it, shall be defiled.	26 Tutti gli animali che hanno lo zoccolo spaccato, ma la cui unghia non è divisa e non sono ruminanti, sono impuri per voi; chiunque li tocca contrae impurità.
27 That which walketh upon hands of all animals which go on all four, shall be unclean: he that shall touch their carcasses shall be defiled until evening.	27 Fra i quadrupedi, qualsiasi animale che cammina sulla pianta dei piedi è impuro per voi; chiunque ne tocca il cadavere resta impuro fino a sera;
28 And he that shall carry such carcasses, shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening: because all these things are unclean to you.	28 chi ne solleva il cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera. Sono animali impuri per voi.
29 These also shall be reckoned among unclean things, of all that move upon the earth, the weasel, and the mouse, and the crocodile, every one according to their kind:	29 Fra gli animali che strisciano sopra la terra sono impuri per voi: la talpa, il topo e ogni specie di lucertola;
30 The shrew, and the chameleon, and the stello, and the lizard, and the mole:	30 il geco, il toporagno, il ramarro, la tartaruga e il camaleonte.
31 All these are unclean. He that toucheth their carcasses shall be unclean until the evening.	31 Questi sono impuri per voi fra gli animali striscianti; chiunque li tocca, quando sono morti, resta impuro fino a sera.
32 And upon what thing soever any of their carcasses shall fall, it shall be defiled, whether it be a vessel of wood, or a garment, or skins or haircloths; or any thing in which work is done, they shall be dipped in water, and shall be unclean until the evening, and so afterwards shall be clean.	32 Qualsiasi cosa su cui cadessero quando sono morti è impura; qualsiasi utensile di legno o vestito o pelle o sacco, qualsiasi utensile con cui si lavora sia messo nell'acqua; resta impuro fino a sera e poi è considerato puro.
33 But an earthen vessel, into which any of these shall fall, shall be defiled, and therefore is to be broken.	33 Qualsiasi recipiente di argilla entro cui cada uno di questi animali: tutto ciò che c'è dentro è impuro e il recipiente lo romperete.
34 Any meat which you eat, if water from such a vessel be poured upon it, shall be unclean; and every liquor that is drunk out of any such vessel, shall be unclean.	34 Qualsiasi commestibile su cui cada quell'acqua è impuro, e ogni bevanda in qualsiasi recipiente si trovi, è impura.
35 And upon whatsoever thing any of these dead beasts shall fall, it shall be unclean: whether it be oven, or pots with feet, they shall be destroyed, and shall be unclean.	35 Qualsiasi cosa su cui cada un loro cadavere è impura: forno e fornello siano distrutti: sono impuri e impuri siano considerati da voi.
36 But fountains and cisterns, and all gatherings together of waters shall be clean. He that toucheth their carcasses shall be defiled.	36 Però le fonti, i pozzi e i bacini d'acqua saranno puri. Chi tocca i loro cadaveri diventa impuro.
37 If it fall upon seed corn, it shall not defile it.	37 Se un loro cadavere cade su una qualsiasi specie di semente da seminare, la semente resta pura;
38 But if any man pour water upon the seed, and afterwards it be touched by the carcasses, it shall be forthwith defiled.	38 se è stata versata dell'acqua sulla semente e cade su di essa un loro cadavere, la semente è impura per voi.
39 If any beast die, of which it is lawful for you to eat, he that toucheth the carcass thereof, shall be unclean until the evening:	39 Se muore un animale di cui vi potete cibare, chi tocca il cadavere è impuro fino a sera.
40 And he that eateth or carrieth any thing thereof, shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until the evening.	40 Chi mangia di questo cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera; chi trasporta tale cadavere lavi le sue vesti; resta impuro fino a sera.
41 All that creepeth upon the earth shall be abominable, neither shall it be taken for meat.	41 Ogni animale che striscia sopra la terra è un abominio: non mangiatelo.
42 Whatsoever goeth upon the breast on four feet, or hath many feet, or traileth on the earth, you shall not eat, because it is abominable.	42 Tutti gli animali che camminano sul ventre, che camminano su quattro o più zampe o che strisciano sopra la terra non mangiateli, ché sono cosa abominevole.
43 Do not defile your souls, nor touch aught thereof, lest you be unclean,	43 Non rendetevi abominevoli con un qualsiasi animale strisciante e non contaminatevi con essi così da diventare impuri.
44 For I am the Lord your God: be holy because I am holy. Defile not your souls by any creeping thing, that moveth upon the earth.	44 Io infatti sono il Signore Dio vostro! Santificatevi e siate santi, perché io sono santo. Non contaminatevi con qualsiasi animale strisciante sopra la terra.
45 For I am the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might be your God.	45 Sì; io sono il Signore che vi ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto per essere vostro Dio. Siate santi perché io sono santo!".
46 You shall be holy, because I am holy. This is the law of beasts and fowls, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and creepeth on the earth:	46 Questa è la legge relativa alle bestie terrestri, agli uccelli e a ogni animale che si muove nell'acqua e a ogni animale che striscia sopra la terra.
47 That you may know the differences of the clean, and unclean, and know what you ought to eat, and what to refuse.	47 Ciò ha lo scopo di separare l'impuro dal puro, gli animali che si possono mangiare da quelli che non è lecito mangiare.
