1 That thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence.	1 Se tu squarciassi i cieli, e scendessi! al tuo cospetto si liquefarebbero i monti.
2 They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence.	2 Si consumerebbero come in una fornace di fuoco, le acque prenderebbero l'ardore del fuoco, affinchè si rendesse manifesto il tuo nome a' tuoi nemici; e dinanzi a te si turbassero le nazioni.
3 When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away.	3 Allorché avrai fatto queste cose amirabili, noi non le sosterremo: tu se' disceso, e dinanzi a te i monti si non disciolti.
4 From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee.	4 Pe' secoli indietro nissuno seppe, né orecchia udì, né occhio vide, o Dio, eccetto te, quel, che tu hai preparato per coloro, che ti aspettano.
5 Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved.	5 Tu vai incontro a quelli, che si rallegrano in te, e praticano la giustizia: nelle tue vie si ricorderanno di te secco, che tu se' irato, e noi abbiam peccato: in peccato fummo noi sempre, e saremo salvati.
6 And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.	6 Siam diventati tutti noi come un immondo, e quasi sucido panno sono tutte le nostre giustificazioni: siamo caduti tutti come foglie, e le nostre iniquità sono state come il vento, che ci ha dispersi.
7 There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity.	7 Non è chi invochi il tuo nome, chi si alzi, e ti rattenga: tu hai nascosa a noi la tua faccia, e ci hai schiacciati sotto la nostra iniquità.
8 And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands.	8 E adesso, o Signore, tu se' il Padre nostro, e noi fango; e facitore nostro se' tu, e tutti noi opere delle tue mani.
9 Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people.	9 Non adirarti troppo, o Signore, e non voler più ricordarti della nostra iniquità; ecco, rimiraci, tuo popolo (siam) tutti noi.
10 The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate.	10 La città del tuo santuario è diven tata deserta, Sionne è diventata deserta, Gerusalemme è desolata.
11 The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins.	11 La casa della nostra santificazione,e della nostra gloria, dove le tue lodi cantarono i padri nostri, è stata consumata dal fuoco, e tutte le nostre grandezze son cangiate in rovine.
12 Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently?	12 A tali cose ti ratterai tu forse, o Signore, e starai in silenzio, e ci affliggerai for misura?
