Isaiah 64

DOUAI-RHEIMS	JERUSALEM
1 That thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence.	1 comme le feu enflamme des bindilles, comme le feu fait bouillir l'eau -- pour faire connaître ton nomà tes adversaires, devant ta face les nations trembleraient
2 They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence.	2 quand tu ferais des prodiges inattendus. (Tu es descendu: devant ta face les montagnes ont étéébranlées.)
3 When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away.	3 Jamais on n'avait ouï dire, on n'avait pas entendu, et l'oeil n'avait pas vu un Dieu, toi excepté, agirainsi en faveur de qui a confiance en lui.
4 From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee.	4 Tu as rencontré celui qui, plein d'allégresse, pratique la justice; en suivant tes voies, ils sesouviendront de toi. Voici que toi, tu t'es irrité, et nous avons péché. Nous sommes à jamais dans tes voies etnous serons sauvés.
5 Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved.	5 Tous, nous étions comme des êtres impurs, et nos bonnes actions comme du linge souillé. Tous, nousnous flétrissons comme des feuilles mortes, et nos fautes nous emportent comme le vent.
6 And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.	6 Plus personne pour invoquer ton nom, pour se réveiller en s'attachant à toi, car tu nous as caché taface et tu nous as livrés au pouvoir de nos fautes.
7 There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity.	7 Et pourtant, Yahvé, tu es notre père, nous sommes l'argile, tu es notre potier, nous sommes tousl'oeuvre de tes mains.
8 And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands.	8 Yahvé, ne t'irrite pas à l'excès, ne garde pas à jamais le souvenir de la faute. Vois donc, nous sommestous ton peuple.
9 Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people.	9 Tes villes saintes sont devenues un désert, Sion est devenue un désert, Jérusalem, un lieu désolé.
10 The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate.	10 Notre Temple saint et magnifique, où nos ancêtres te louaient, est devenu la proie du feu. Tout ceque nous aimions est devenu ruine.
11 The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins.	11 Peux-tu rester insensible à tout cela, Yahvé? Te taire serait nous humilier à l'excès.
12 Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently?
