EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Ten piedad de nosotros, Dueño soberano, Dios de todas las cosas, y mira, infunde tu temor a todas las naciones.	1 Come to our aid, O God of the universe, and put all the nations in dread of you!
2 Levanta tu mano contra las naciones extranjeras y que ellas vean tu dominio.	2 Raise your hand against the heathen, that they may realize your power.
3 Así como les manifestaste tu santidad al castigarnos, manifiéstanos también tu grandeza castigándolas a ellas;	3 As you have used us to show them your holiness, so now use them to show us your glory.
4 y que ellas te reconozcan, como hemos reconocido nosotros que no hay otro Dios fuera de ti, Señor.	4 Thus they will know, as we know, that there is no God but you.
5 Renueva los signos y repite las maravillas, glorifica tu mano y tu brazo derecho.	5 Give new signs and work new wonders; show forth the splendor of your right hand and arm;
6 Despierta tu furor y derrama tu ira, suprime al adversario y extermina al enemigo.	6 Rouse your anger, pour out wrath, humble the enemy, scatter the foe.
7 Apresura la hora y acuérdate del juramento, para que se narren tus hazañas.	7 Hasten the day, bring on the time;
8 Que el fugitivo sea devorado por el ardor del fuego, y que encuentren su perdición los que maltratan a tu pueblo.	8 Let raging fire consume the fugitive, and your people's oppressors meet destruction.
9 Aplasta la cabeza de los jefes enemigos, que dicen: «¡No hay nadie fuera de nosotros!».	9 crush the heads of the hostile rulers.
10 Congrega a todas las tribus de Jacob, y entrégales su herencia, como al comienzo.	10 Gather all the tribes of Jacob, that they may inherit the land as of old,
11 Ten piedad, Señor, del pueblo que es llamado con tu Nombre, de Israel, a quien trataste como a un primogénito.	11 Show mercy to the people called by your name; Israel, whom you named your first-born.
12 Ten compasión de Ciudad santa, de Jerusalén, el lugar de reposo.	12 Take pity on your holy city, Jerusalem, your dwelling place.
13 Llena a Sión de alabanzas por tu triunfo, y a tu pueblo, cólmalo de tu gloria.	13 Fill Zion with your majesty, your temple with your glory.
14 Da testimonio a favor de los que tú creaste en el principio, y cumple las profecías anunciadas en tu Nombre.	14 Give evidence of your deeds of old; fulfill the prophecies spoken in your name,
15 Dales la recompensa a los que te aguardan, y que se compruebe la veracidad de tus profetas.	15 Reward those who have hoped in you, and let your prophets be proved true.
16 Escucha, Señor, la oración de los que te suplican, conforme a la bendición de Aarón sobre tu pueblo,	16 Hear the prayer of your servants, for you are ever gracious to your people;
17 para que todos los que viven en la tierra reconozcan que tú eres el Señor, el Dios eterno.	17 Thus it will be known to the very ends of the earth that you are the eternal God.
18 El estómago asimila toda clase de alimentos, pero hay unos mejores que otros.	18 The throat can swallow any food, yet some foods are more agreeable than others;
19 El paladar distingue los manjares y el corazón inteligente descubre las mentiras.	19 As the palate tests meat by its savor, so does a keen mind insincere words.
20 Un corazón tortuoso provoca contrariedades, pero el hombre de experiencia le da su merecido.	20 A deceitful character causes grief, but an experienced man can turn the tables on him.
21 Una mujer acepta cualquier marido, pero unas jóvenes son mejores que otras.	21 Though any man may be accepted as a husband, yet one girl will be more suitable than another:
22 La hermosura de la mujer alegra el rostro y supera todos los deseos del hombre.	22 A woman's beauty makes her husband's face light up, for it surpasses all else that charms the eye;
23 Si en sus labios hay bondad y dulzura, su marido ya no es más uno de tantos hombres.	23 And if, besides, her speech is kindly, his lot is beyond that of mortal men.
24 El que adquiere una mujer tiene el comienzo de la fortuna, una ayuda adecuada a él y una columna donde apoyarse.	24 A wife is her husband's richest treasure, a helpmate, a steadying column.
25 Donde no hay valla, la propiedad es saqueada, y donde no hay mujer, el hombre gime y va a la deriva.	25 A vineyard with no hedge will be overrun; a man with no wife becomes a homeless wanderer.
26 ¿Quién puede fiarse de un salteador que va rápidamente de ciudad en ciudad?	26 Who will trust an armed band that shifts from city to city?
27 Así sucede con el hombre sin nido, que se alberga donde lo sorprende la noche.	27 Or a man who has no nest, but lodges where night overtakes him?
