1 El que vive para siempre creó todas las cosas por igual;	1 The Eternal is the judge of all things without exception; the LORD alone is just.
2 sólo el Señor será hallado justo y no hay otro fuera de él.	2 Whom has he made equal to describing his works, and who can probe his mighty deeds?
3 El gobierna el mundo con la palma de la mano y todo obedece a su voluntad, ya que él, por su poder, es el Rey de todas las cosas y separa las sagradas de las profanas.	3 Who can measure his majestic power, or exhaust the tale of his mercies?
4 A nadie le dio el poder de anunciar sus obras: ¿quién rastreará su grandeza?	4 One cannot lessen, nor increase, nor penetrate the wonders of the LORD.
5 ¿Quién podrá medir la magnitud de su fuerza y quién pretenderá narrar sus misericordias?	5 When a man ends he is only beginning, and when he stops he is still bewildered.
6 No hay nada que quitar, nada que añadir, y es imposible rastrear las maravillas del Señor.	6 What is man, of what worth is he? the good, the evil in him, what are these?
7 Cuando el hombre llega al fin, está sólo al comienzo; cuando se detiene, no sale de su estupor.	7 The sum of a man's days is great if it reaches a hundred years:
8 ¿Qué es el hombre? ¿Para qué sirve? ¿Cuál es su bien y cuál es su mal?	8 Like a drop of sea water, like a grain of sand, so are these few years among the days of eternity.
9 La vida de un hombre dura cien años a lo más:	9 That is why the LORD is patient with men and showers upon them his mercy.
10 como una gota del mar y como un grano de arena, son sus pocos años frente a la eternidad.	10 He sees and understands that their death is grievous, and so he forgives them all the more.
11 Por eso el Señor es paciente con ellos y derrama sobre ellos su misericordia.	11 Man may be merciful to his fellow man, but the LORD'S mercy reaches all flesh,
12 El ve y conoce qué miserable es su fin, y por eso multiplica su perdón.	12 Reproving, admonishing, teaching, as a shepherd guides his flock;
13 El hombre sólo tiene misericordia de su prójimo, pero el Señor es misericordioso con todos los vivientes. El reprende, corrige y enseña, y los hace volver como el pastor a su rebaño.	13 Merciful to those who accept his guidance, who are diligent in his precepts.
14 El tiene misericordia con los que aceptan la instrucción y está siempre dispuestos a cumplir sus decretos.	14 My son, to your charity add no reproach, nor spoil any gift by harsh words.
15 Hijo mío, no eches en cara los beneficios que haces ni acompañes tus dones con palabras ofensivas.	15 Like dew that abates a burning wind, so does a word improve a gift.
16 ¿No calma el rocío el calor ardiente? Así, una buena palabra puede más que un regalo.	16 Sometimes the word means more than the gift; both are offered by a kindly man.
17 ¿Acaso no vale más una palabra que un obsequio? Pero el hombre caritativo sabe unir las dos cosas.	17 Only a fool upbraids before giving; a grudging gift wears out the expectant eyes.
18 El necio reprende sin ningún miramiento y el don del avaro hace correr las lágrimas.	18 Be informed before speaking; before sickness prepare the cure.
19 Antes de hablar, instrúyete, y cuídate antes de caer enfermo.	19 Before you are judged, seek merit for yourself, and at the time of visitation you will have a ransom.
20 Antes de juzgar, examínate a ti mismo, y hallarás perdón cuando el Señor te visite.	20 Before you have fallen, humble yourself; when you have sinned, show repentance.
21 Humíllate antes de caer enfermo y arrepiéntete apenas hayas pecado.	21 Delay not to forsake sins, neglect it not till you are in distress.
22 Que nada te impida cumplir tus votos en el momento debido, y no esperes hasta la muerte para estar en regla.	22 Let nothing prevent the prompt payment of your vows; wait not to fulfill them when you are dying.
23 Antes de hacer un voto, prepárate a cumplirlo, y no seas como un hombre que tienta al Señor.	23 Before making a vow have the means to fulfill it; be not one who tries the LORD.
24 Recuerda la ira de los últimos días y el tiempo del castigo, cuando el Señor apartará su rostro.	24 Think of wrath and the day of death, the time of vengeance when he will hide his face.
25 En tiempo de abundancia, recuerda el tiempo de hambre, y en los días de riqueza, la pobreza y la penuria.	25 Remember the time of hunger in the time of plenty, poverty and want in the day of wealth.
26 De la mañana a la tarde, el tiempo cambia, y todo pasa rápidamente delante del Señor.	26 Between morning and evening the weather changes; before the LORD all things are fleeting.
27 El hombre sabio está siempre alerta, y en la ocasión de pecado, se cuida para no faltar.	27 A wise man is circumspect in all things; when sin is rife he keeps himself from wrongdoing.
28 Todo hombre prudente conoce la sabiduría y rinde homenaje al que la encuentra.	28 Any learned man should make wisdom known, and he who attains to her should declare her praise;
29 Los que hablan con sensatez son sabios ellos mismos y derraman como lluvia proverbios acertados	29 Those trained in her words must show their wisdom, dispensing sound proverbs like life-giving waters.
30 No te dejes guiar por tus pasiones, sino refrena tus deseos.	30 Go not after your lusts, but keep your desires in check.
31 Si cedes a los impulsos de la pasión, ella hará de ti la irrisión de tus enemigos.	31 If you satisfy your lustful appetites they will make you the sport of your enemies.
32 Que tu alegría no consista en darte todos los gustos ni te endeudes para pagar lo que ellos cuestan.	32 Have no joy in the pleasures of a moment which bring on poverty redoubled;
33 No te empobrezcas yendo de fiesta con dinero prestado, cuando no tienes nada en el bolsillo.	33 Become not a glutton and a winebibber with nothing in your purse.
