EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Bildad de Súaj respondió, diciendo:	1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
2 ¿Hasta cuándo nos impedirás hablar? Reflexiona, y luego hablaremos.	2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 ¿Por qué seremos tenidos por animales y pasaremos por torpes ante tus ojos?	3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
4 Tú, que te desgarras en tu enojo: ¿acaso la tierra quedará desierta por tu causa o la roca será removida de su sitio?	4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
5 Sí, la luz del malvado se extingue y la llama de su fuego no brilla más.	5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
6 La luz se oscurece en su carpa y su lámpara se apaga sobre él.	6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
7 Se acortan sus pasos vigorosos, su propio designio lo hace tropezar.	7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
8 Porque sus pies lo meten en una trampa y va caminando entre redes:	8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
9 un lazo le aprisiona el talón y un cepo se cierra sobre él.	9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.
10 Lo espera una cuerda oculta en el suelo y una trampa tendida sobre el camino.	10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
11 Lo asaltan terrores por todas partes y lo amenazan a cada paso.	11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
12 Su vigor se convierte en hambre y la ruina permanece a su lado;	12 Disaster is ready at his side,
13 la enfermedad corroe su piel, el Primogénito de la Muerte devora sus miembros.	13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
14 Lo arrancan de la seguridad de su carpa y lo llevan ante el Rey de los terrores.	14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
15 El fuego se instala en su carpa y se esparce azufre sobre su morada.	15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 Por debajo se secan sus raíces y por arriba se marchita su ramaje.	16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
17 Su recuerdo desaparece de la tierra y se borra su nombre en la región.	17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
18 Lo arrojan de la luz a las tinieblas y lo arrastran fuera del mundo.	18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
19 No tiene estirpe ni posteridad en su pueblo, no quedan sobrevivientes donde él habitaba.	19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
20 El Occidente se estremece por su destino y el Oriente es presa del horror.	20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
21 Sí, tales son las moradas del injusto, este es el lugar del que no conoce a Dios.	21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!
