| 2 Chi istruisce il suo figliolo ne avrà lode e se ne glorierà in mezzo alla gente di sua famiglia. | 2 He that instructeth his son shall be praised in him, and shall glory in him in the midst of them of his household. |
| 3 Chi istruisce il suo figliolo muoverà ad invidia il nemico, e si glorierà di lui coi suoi amici. | 3 He that teacheth his son, maketh his enemy jealous, and in the midst of his friends he shall glory in him. |
| 4 Se suo padre muore, sarà come non fosse morto, perchè lascia dietro di sè uno simile a lui. | 4 His father is dead, and he is as if he were not dead: for he hath left one behind him that is like himself. |

| 15 La sanità dell'anima che consiste nella santità della giustizia, vai più dell'oro e dell'argento e un corpo robusto vai più d'immense ricchezze. | 15 Better is a poor man who is sound, and strong of constitution, than a rich man who is weak and afflicted with evils. |
| 16 Non c'è ricchezza maggiore della sanità del corpo, nè piacere maggiore della gioia del cuore. | 16 Health of the soul in holiness of justice, is better then all gold and silver: and a sound body, than immense revenues. |
| 17 E' preferibile la morte ad una vita amara, e l'eterno riposo alla sofferenza continua. | 17 There is no riches above the riches of the health of the body: and there is no pleasure above the joy of the heart. |
| 18 Beni riposti in bocca chiusa sono come apparecchiate vivande poste in torno ad un sepolcro. | 18 Better is death than a bitter life: and everlasting rest, than continual sickness. |

| 22 Non t'abbandonare alla tristezza, e non t'affliggere coi tuoi pensieri. | 22 He seeth with his eyes, and groaneth, as an eunuch embracing a virgin, and sighing. |
| 23 La giocondità del cuore è la vita dell'uomo, è un tesoro inesauribile di sanità, l'allegrezza dell'uomo dà la lunga vita. | 23 Give not up thy soul to sadness, and afflict not thyself in thy own counsel. |
| 24 Abbi pietà della tua anima, per piacere a Dio sii continente, raccogli il tuo cuore nella santità di Dio e caccia lungi da te la tristezza. | 24 The joyfulness of the heart, is the life of a man, and a never failing treasure of holiness: and the joy of a man is length of life. |
| 25 Perchè la tristezza ne ha fatti morir molti, e non serve a nulla. | 25 Have pity on thy own soul, pleasing God, and contain thyself: gather up thy heart in his holiness: and drive away sadness far from thee. |
| 26 L'invidia e l'ira abbreviano la vita, e i pensieri fan diventar vecchi avanti tempo. | 26 For sadness hath killed many, and there is no profit in it. |
| 27 Il cuore sereno e buono è in banchetti e i suoi banchetti son preparati con diligenza. | 27 Envy and anger shorten a man's days, and pensiveness will bring old age before the time. |
