| 1 E comandò Moisè agli antichi del popolo e a tutto il popolo d'Israel, e disse: (guardate e) osservate ogni comandamento il quale io comando oggi. | 1 Now Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day. |
| 2 E poi che tu avrai passato il (fiume) Giordano, nella terra la quale Iddio tuo Signore ti darà, (tor rai e) dirizzerai pietre grandissime; e sì le pulirai (delicatamente) colla calcina, | 2 And on the day you pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall set up large stones, and plaster them with plaster; |
| 3 acciò che vi possi iscrivere tutte queste parole della legge, le quali io t'ho dette di qua dal (fiume) Giordano, acciò che tu entri nella [ la quale Iddio tuo Signore ti darà] terra la quale mena latte e miele, siccom'egli giurò (e promise) a' tuoi padri. | 3 and you shall write upon them all the words of this law, when you pass over to enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you. |
| 4 Adunque quando tu avrai passato il (fiume) Giordano, rizzerai le pietre, delle quali io ti comando oggi, nel monte di Ebal; e sì le pulirai colla calcina. | 4 And when you have passed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you this day, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. |
| 5 E quivi si edificherai l'altare a Dio tuo Signore, di pietre le quali ferro non abbia tocco, | 5 And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall lift up no iron tool upon them. |
| 6 e di sassi senza forma alcuna (cioè non qua dri, non acconci) nè puliti, e sopra questo altare offerrai olocausto a Dio Signore, | 6 You shall build an altar to the LORD your God of unhewn stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God; |
| 7 e sì offerrai ostie di pace, e quivi sì mangerai dinanzi a Dio tuo Signore. | 7 and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God. |
| 8 E sì iscriverai sopra le pietre tutte le parole di questa legge dilicatamente e polito (cioè che si veggano molto bene). | 8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly." |
| 9 E (parlarono, e) dissero Moisè e i preti della schiatta di Levi a tutto il popolo d'Israel: ecco, oggi sei fatto popolo di Dio tuo Signore. | 9 And Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, "Keep silence and hear, O Israel: this day you have become the people of the LORD your God. |
| 10 Udirai la sua voce, e farai il suo comandamento, e le giustizie le quali io ti comando. | 10 You shall therefore obey the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day." |
| 11 E comandò Moisè in quello dì al popolo, e disse: | 11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, |
| 12 Questi staranno a benedicere il popolo sopra il monte di Garizim, di qua dal (fiume) Giordano, cioè Simeon e Levi, Iuda e Issacar e Iosef e Be niamin. | 12 "When you have passed over the Jordan, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. |
| 13 E dall'altra parte della contrada sì istaranno costoro a maledicere in sul monte di Ebal: Ruben, Gad e Aser e Zabulon e Dan e Neftali. | 13 And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. |
| 14 E pronunceranno, e diranno questi della schiatta di Levi, ai figliuoli d'Israel ad alta voce: | 14 And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel with a loud voice: |
| 15 Maledetto sia quello uomo il quale fa alcuno somigliante ovvero imagine gonfiata (cioè vuota dentro, la quale sia in abbominazione di Dio Signore), o altra opera di mano d'artefice, la quale sia in dispetto a Dio, (e terralla) e porralla in luogo nasco sto. E risponderà tutto il popolo, e dirà: amen (che viene a dire: così sia). | 15 "'Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, a thing made by the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' And all the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.' |
| 16 Maledetto sia chi non fa onore (e reverenza) al padre e alla madre sua. E dirà tutto il popolo: così sia. | 16 "'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 17 Maledetto sia colui il quale muta i termini (e i confini) del prossimo suo. E tutto il popolo dirà: amen. | 17 "'Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 18 Matedetto sia chi fa errare il cieco nella via (quando va). E tutto il popolo dirà: e cosi sia. | 18 "'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on the road.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 19 E maledetto sia chi perverte (e muta) il giudicio del forestiere e del pupillo e della vedova. E tutto il popolo dirà: così sia. | 19 "'Cursed be he who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 20 Maledetto sia chi dorme (e commette peccato per avere a fare) colla moglie del suo padre, (e iscopre) e lieva suso quello con che si cuopre in su il letto suo. E tutto il popolo dirà: amen. | 20 "'Cursed be he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered her who is his father's. ' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 21 Maledetto sia chi usa per (modo o) atto carnale con alcuna bestia (o animale). E il popolo dirà: amen. | 21 "'Cursed be he who lies with any kind of beast.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 22 Maledetto sia chi dorme (od ha a fare per corruzione carnale) con la sua sorella cioè con la figliuola del padre suo o della madre sua propria (o maschio o femina che sia). E tutto il popolo dirà: amen. | 22 "'Cursed be he who lies with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 23 Maledetto sia chi dorme (per atto di corruzione carnale) colla sua suocera. E tutto il popolo dirà: amen. | 23 "'Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 24 Maledetto sia chi (uccide e) batte il prossimo suo nascosamente. E tutto il popolo dirà: amen. | 24 "'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 25 Maledetto sia chi riceve denari o altra mercede, acciò che uccida l'anima del prossimo suo innocente. E dirà tutto il popolo: amen. | 25 "'Cursed be he who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 26 Maledetto sia chi non osserva i sermoni (e le parole) di questa legge, e non gli mette in operazione. E risponderà tutto il popolo: così sia. | 26 "'Cursed be he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
