BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Adunque prego siano fatte, prima di tutte l'altre cose, preghiere e orazioni e dimandamenti e referimento di grazie per tutti li uomini,	1 I urge then, first of al that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving should be offered foreveryone,
2 e per tutti i re, e per tutti coloro che son ordinati in alcuna altezza di signorìa, acciò che noi abbiamo vita quieta e tranquilla, con ogni pietà e castità.	2 for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live peaceful and quiet lives with al devotionand propriety.
3 E questo è buono e piacevole davanti a Dio nostro Salvatore.	3 To do this is right, and acceptable to God our Saviour:
4 Il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini sieno salvi, e che vengano a conoscimento della verità.	4 he wants everyone to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth.
5 Chè Dio è uno, e uno tramezzatore tra Dio e li uomini, cioè l'uomo Iesù Cristo;	5 For there is only one God, and there is only one mediator between God and humanity, himself a humanbeing, Christ Jesus,
6 il quale diede sè medesimo per ricomperare noi e tutti gli altri; il testimonio del quale è (confermato) ne' suoi tempi.	6 who offered himself as a ransom for al . This was the witness given at the appointed time,
7 Nel qual testimonio io son posto predicatore e apostolo; verità dico a voi, e non mento (in Iesù Cristo); io son ammaestratore delle genti in fede e in verità.	7 of which I was appointed herald and apostle and -- I am telling the truth and no lie -- a teacher of thegentiles in faith and truth.
8 Adunque voglio che gli uomini debbano orare in ogni luogo, levando le mani pure (al cielo), senza ira e senza discordia.	8 In every place, then, I want the men to lift their hands up reverently in prayer, with no anger or argument.
9 Simigliantemente le femine, con abito ornato, e con vergogna e con temperanza ornandosi, non con capelli torti (ornate) nè con corone, ovver con margarite e con preziose vestimenta,	9 Similarly, women are to wear suitable clothes and to be dressed quietly and modestly, without braidedhair or gold and jewellery or expensive clothes;
10 ma con quelle cose che si convengono alle femine (oneste), dimostrando pietà per buone opere.	10 their adornment is to do the good works that are proper for women who claim to be religious.
11 La femina imprenda con silenzio, con ogni soggezione.	11 During instruction, a woman should be quiet and respectful.
12 E non permetto che la femina (insegni e) ammaestri li uomini, nè che li signorizzi; anzi si posi in silenzio.	12 I give no permission for a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. A woman ought to be quiet,
13 Imperò che Adam in prima fu formato, e poi fu fatta Eva.	13 because Adam was formed first and Eve afterwards,
14 Adam non fu (ingannato nè) sedotto (dal serpente); ma la femina fu sedotta, e fu nel prevaricamento (del comandamento di Dio).	14 and it was not Adam who was led astray but the woman who was led astray and fell into sin.
15 Ma ella sarà salva per generazione delli figliuoli, se ella permanerà in fede e amore, e in santificazione con temperanza.	15 Nevertheless, she will be saved by child-bearing, provided she lives a sensible life and is constant infaith and love and holiness.
