Siracide 18

BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Colui che vive in eterno creò tutte insieme le cose. Dio solo sarà riconosciuto giusto: Egli è re invincibile in eterno.	1 He that liveth for ever created all things together. God only shall be justified, and he remaineth an invincible king for ever.
2 Chi potrà descrivere le opere di lui?	2 Who is able to declare his works?
3 Chi potrà investigare le sue maraviglie?	3 For who shall search out his glorious acts?
4 La potenza della sua grandezza chi la potrà spiegare? Chi potrà giungere a raccontare le sue misericordie?	4 And who shall shew forth the power of his majesty? or who shall be able to declare his mercy?
5 Ne togliere nè aggiungere si può alle maraviglie di Dio, nè arrivare a scoprirle.	5 Nothing may be taken away, nor added, neither is it possible to find out the glorious works of God:
6 Quando l'uomo avrà finito, sarà sempre da principio, e quando si fermerà, resterà stordito.	6 When a man hath done, then shall he begin: and when he leaveth off, he shall be at a loss.
7 Che cos'è l'uomo e a che può servire? A che si riduce il suo bene e il suo male?	7 What is man, and what is his grace? and what is his good, or what is his evil?
8 Il numero dei giorni dell'uomo è molto se arriva a cento anni. Come una goccia d'acqua nell'oceano, come un granello d'arena, cosi quei pochi anni da vanti al giorno dell'eternità.	8 The number of the days of men at the most are a hundred years: as a drop of water of the sea are they esteemed: and as a pebble of the sand, so are a few years compared to eternity.
9 Per questo il Signore è paziente cogli uomini, ed effonde sopra di loro la sua misericordia.	9 Therefore God is patient in them, and poureth forth his mercy upon them.
10 Egli vede bene che malvagia è la presunzione del loro cuore, che deplorevole è la loro perdizione.	10 He hath seen the presumption of their heart that it is wicked, and hath known their end that it is evil.
11 Per questo con essi fa giungere al colmo la sua misericordia, e mostra loro la via dell'equità.	11 Therefore bath he filled up his mercy in their favour, and hath shewn them the way of justice.
12 La pietà dell'uomo è verso il suo prossimo, ma la misericordia di Dio si estende ad ogni vivente.	12 The compassion of man is toward his neighbour: but the mercy of God is upon all flesh.
13 Essendo Egli misericordioso, ammaestra e corregge (gli uomini) come un pastore il proprio gregge.	13 He hath mercy, and teacheth, and correcteth, as a shepherd doth his hock.
14 Egli ha pietà di chi riceve l'ammonimento della misericordia, e di chi è sollecito nei suoi precetti.	14 He hath mercy on him that receiveth the discipline of mercy, and that maketh haste in his judgments.
15 Figliolo, non aggiungere ai benefìzi i rimproveri, e al dono non aggiungere l'amarezza di cattive parole.	15 My son, in thy good deeds, make no complaint, and when thou givest any thing, add not grief by an evil word.
16 La rugiada non tempera forse il caldo? Così la buona parola val più del dono.	16 Shall not the dew assuage the heat? so also the good word is better than the gift.
17 Non lo vedi che la parola vai più del dono? Ma il giusto ha l'uno e l'altra.	17 Lo, is not a word better than a gift? but both are with a justified man.
18 Lo stolto farà degli sgarbati rimproveri, e il dono dell'indiscreto fa strugger gli occhi.	18 A fool will upbraid bitterly: and a gift of one ill taught consumeth the eyes.
19 Prima del giudizio assicurati della tua giustizia e prima di parlare impara.	19 Before judgment prepare thee justice, and learn before thou speak.
20 Avanti la malattia prendi il rimedio, e prima del giudizio esamina te stesso, e troverai misericordia dinanzi a Dio.	20 Before sickness take a medicine, and before judgment examine thyself, and thou shalt find mercy in the sight of God.
21 Prima di cader malato, umiliati, e nel tempo dell'infermità fa vedere la tua (buona) condotta.	21 Humble thyself before thou art sick, and in the time of sickness shew thy conversation.
22 Nessuna cosa t'impedisca di sempre pregare, non ti peritare di conservarti giusto fino alla morte, perchè la ricompensa di Dio è eterna.	22 Let nothing hinder thee from praying always, and be not afraid to be justified even to death: for the reward of God continueth for ever.
23 Avanti l'orazione prepara l'anima tua, e non voler essere come uno che tenta Dio.	23 Before prayer prepare thy soul: and be not as a man that tempteth God.
24 Pensa all'ira del giorno finale e al tempo della retribuzione, quando Dio volgerà altrove la faccia.	24 Remember the wrath that shall be at the last day, and the time of repaying when he shall turn away his face.
25 Ricordati della povertà nel tempo dell'abbondanza e delle strettezze della miseria nel tempo di ricchezza.	25 Remember poverty is the time of abundance, and the necessities of poverty in the day of riches.
26 Dalla mattina alla sera si cambierà il tempo, e dmanzi a Dio tutto passa veloce.	26 From the morning until the evening the time shall be changed, and all these are swift in the eyes of God.
27 L'uomo saggio va cauto in ogni cosa, e nei giorni del peccato si guarderà dalla negligenza.	27 A wise man will fear in every thing, and in the days of sine will beware of sloth.
28 Ogni accorto riconosce la sapienza e renderà onori a chi l'ha trovata.	28 Every man of understanding knoweth wisdom, and will give praise to him that findeth her.
29 Gli uomini di buon senso nelle parole operan pure con saggezza; avendo compresa la verità e la giustizia, fan piovere proverbi e sentenze.	29 They that were of good understanding in words, have also done wisely themselves: and have understood truth and justice, and have poured forth proverbs and judgments.
30 Non andar dietro alle tue voglie, e raffrena i tuoi appetiti.	30 Go not after thy lusts, but turn away from thy own will.
31 Se accordi alla tua anima ciò che desidera, essa ti renderà la gioia dei tuoi nemici.	31 If thou give to thy soul her desires, she will make thee a joy to thy enemies.
32 Non aver piacere dei tumulti, anche piccoli, perchè in essi i conflitti son continui.	32 Take no pleasure in riotous assemblies, be they ever so small: for their concertation is continual.
33 Guardati dall'impoverire prendendo ad usura per la gara (dei banchetti) quando la tua borsa è vuota, perchè por teresti invidia alla tua vita.	33 Make not thyself poor by borrowing to contribute to feasts when thou hast nothing in thy purse : for thou shalt be an enemy to thy own life.
