STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH	NEW JERUSALEM
1 וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי הָיְתָה חֲתֻנָּה בְּקָנָה אֲשֶׁר בַּגָּלִיל וְאֵם יֵשׁוּעַ הָיְתָה שָּׁם	1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there,
2 וְיֵשׁוּעַ וְתַלְמִידָיו הָיוּ גַם־הֵם קְרוּאִים אֶל־הַחֲתֻנָּה	2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited.
3 וַיֶּחְסַר הַיָּיִן וַתֹּאמֶר אֵם יֵשׁוּעַ אֵלָיו יַיִן אֵין לָהֶם	3 And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had al been used, and the mother ofJesus said to him, 'They have no wine.'
4 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ יֵשׁוּעַ מַה־לִּי וָלָךְ אִשָּׁה עִתִּי עֲדַיִן לֹא־בָאָה	4 Jesus said, 'Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.'
5 וַתֹּאמֶר אִמּוֹ אֶל־הַמְשָׁרְתִים כְּכָל־אֲשֶׁר יֹאמַר לָכֶם תַּעֲשֹוּ	5 His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'
6 וְהִנֵּה שִׁשָּׁה כַדֵּי־אֶבֶן עֲרוּכִים שָׁם כְּמִשְׁפַּט הַיְּהוּדִים לְטָהֳרָתָם שְׁתַּיִם אוֹ־שָׁלשׁ בַּתִּים יָכִיל כָּל־אֶחָד	6 There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among theJews: each could hold twenty or thirty gal ons.
7 וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ מַלְאוּ לָכֶם הַכַּדִּים מָיִם וַיְמַלְאוּם עַד־לְמָעְלָה	7 Jesus said to the servants, 'Fil the jars with water,' and they fil ed them to the brim.
8 וַיֹּאמֶר שַׁאֲבוּ־נָא וְהָבִיאוּ אֶל־רַב הַמְּסִבָּה וַיָּבִיאוּ	8 Then he said to them, 'Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.'
9 וַיִּטְעַם רַב הַמְּסִבָּה אֶת־הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר נֶהֶפְכוּ לְיַיִן וְלֹא יָדַע מֵאַיִן הוּא וְאוּלָם הַמְשָׁרְתִים אֲשֶׁר־שָׁאֲבוּ אֶת־הַמַּיִם יָדָעוּ וַיִּקְרָא רַב־הַמְּסִבָּה אֶל־הֶחָתָן	9 They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it camefrom -- though the servants who had drawn the water knew -- the president of the feast cal ed the bridegroom
10 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו כָּל־אִישׁ יִתֵּן בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה אֶת־הַיַּיִן הַטּוֹב וְכַאֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכְּרוּ יִתֵּן לָהֶם אֶת־הַגָּרוּעַ וְאַתָּה צָפַנְתָּ הַיַּיִן הַטּוֹב עַד־עָתָּה	10 and said, 'Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are wel wined; butyou have kept the best wine til now.'
11 זֹאת תְּחִלַּת הָאֹתוֹת אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יֵשׁוּעַ בְּקָנָה אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ הַגָּלִיל וְגִלָּה אֶת־כְּבוֹדוֹ וַיַּאֲמִינוּ בוֹ תַּלְמִידָיו	11 This was the first of Jesus' signs: it was at Cana in Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciplesbelieved in him.
12 וַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי־כֵן וַיֵּרֶד אֶל־כְּפַר נַחוּם הוּא וְאִמּוֹ וְאֶחָיו וְתַלְמִידָיו וְלֹא אָרְכוּ יְמֵי שִׁבְתָּם שָׁם	12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, but theystayed there only a few days.
13 וַיִּקְרְבוּ יְמֵי חַג־הַפֶּסַח אֲשֶׁר לַיְּהוּדִים וַיַּעַל יֵשׁוּעַ יְרוּשָׁלָיִם	13 When the time of the Jewish Passover was near Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 וַיִּמְצָא בַמִּקְדָּשׁ מֹכְרֵי בָקָר וָצֹאן וּבְנֵי יוֹנָה וְאֵת מַחֲלִיפֵי־כֶסֶף ישְׁבִים שָׁם	14 and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and doves, and the money changerssitting there.
15 וַיִּקַּח חֲבָלִים וַיְעַבְּתֵם לְשׁוֹט וַיְגָרֶשׁ כֻּלָּם מִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ וְאֵת הַצֹּאן וְאֵת הַבָּקָר וַיְפַזֵּר אֶת־מְעוֹת הַשֻּׁלְחָנִים וַיַּהֲפֹךְ שֻׁלְחֲנֹתֵיהֶם	15 Making a whip out of cord, he drove them al out of the Temple, sheep and cattle as wel , scattered themoney changers' coins, knocked their tables over
16 וְאֶל־מֹכְרֵי הַיּוֹנִים אָמָר הוֹצִיאוּ אֵלֶּה מִזֶּה וְאַל־תַּעֲשֹוּ אֶת־בֵּית אָבִי לְבֵית מִסְחָר	16 and said to the dove sel ers, 'Take all this out of here and stop using my Father's house as a market.'
17 וַיִּזְכְּרוּ תַלְמִידָיו אֶת־הַכָּתוּב כִּי־קִנְאַת בֵּיתְךָ אֲכָלָתְנִי	17 Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: I am eaten up with zeal for your house.
18 וַיַּעֲנוּ הַיְּהוּדִים וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו אֵיזוֹ אוֹת תַּרְאֵנוּ כִּי כָזֹאת אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה	18 The Jews intervened and said, 'What sign can you show us that you should act like this?'
19 וַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם הִרְסוּ אֶת־הַהֵיכָל הַזֶּה וּבִשְׁלשָׁה יָמִים אֲקִימֶנּוּ	19 Jesus answered, 'Destroy this Temple, and in three days I will raise it up.'
20 וַיֹּאמְרוּ הַיְּהוּדִים הִנֵּה זֶה אַרְבָּעִים וָשֵׁשׁ שָׁנָה נִבְנָה הַהֵיכָל הַזֶּה וְאַתָּה בִּשְׁלשָׁה יָמִים תְּקִימֶנּוּ	20 The Jews replied, 'It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple: are you going to raise it up again inthree days?'
21 וְהוּא דִּבֶּר עַל־הֵיכַל גְּוִיָּתוֹ	21 But he was speaking of the Temple that was his body,
22 וְאַחֲרֵי קוּמוֹ מִן־הַמֵּתִים זָכְרוּ תַלְמִידָיו כִּי־זֹאת אָמַר לָהֶם וַיַּאֲמִינוּ בַכָּתוּב וּבַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר יֵשׁוּעַ	22 and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believedthe scripture and what he had said.
23 וַיְהִי בִּהְיֹתוֹ בִירוּשָׁלַיִם בְּחַג־הַפֶּסַח הֶאֱמִינוּ רַבִּים בִּשְׁמוֹ כִּי רָאוּ הָאֹתוֹת אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה	23 During his stay in Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover many believed in his name when they sawthe signs that he did,
24 וְהוּא יֵשׁוּעַ לֹא הִפְקִיד אֶת־עַצְמוֹ בְּיָדָם עַל־אֲשֶׁר יָדַע אֶת־כֻּלָּם	24 but Jesus knew al people and did not trust himself to them;
25 וְלֹא הִצְטָרֵךְ לְעֵדוּת אִישׁ עַל־הָאָדָם כִּי הוּא יָדַע מַה־בְּקֶרֶב הָאָדָם	25 he never needed evidence about anyone; he could tell what someone had within.
26 יַעַן הֱיוֹתוֹ נִכְסָף לְכֻלְּכֶם וְנֶעְצָב מְאֹד עַל־אֲשֶׁר שְׁמַעְתֶּם כִּי חָלָה
27 אָמְנָם חָלֹה חָלָה וְגַם־נָטָה לָמוּת אֲבָל הָאֱלֹהִים רִחַם עָלָיו וְלֹא עָלָיו בִּלְבַד כִּי גַם־עָלַי רִחַם שֶׁלֹּא־יָבוֹא עָלַי יָגוֹן עַל־יָגוֹן
28 לָכֵן מִהַרְתִּי לְשָׁלְחוֹ אֲלֵיכֶם לְמַעַן תִּרְאֻהוּ וְתָשׁוּבוּ לִשְׂמוֹחַ וְגַם־יִמְעַט יְגוֹנִי
29 עַל־כֵּן קַבְּלֻהוּ בַאֲדֹנֵינוּ בְּכָל־שִׂמְחָה וְהוֹקִירוּ אֲנָשִׁים כָּמֹהוּ
30 כִּי בַעֲבוּר עֲבוֹדַת הַמָּשִׁיחַ הִגִּיעַ עַד־מָוֶת וַתֵּקַל נַפְשׁוֹ בְּעֵינָיו לְמַעַן יְמַלֵּא אֶת־אֲשֶׁר חֲסַרְתֶּם בְּשָׁרֶתְכֶם אוֹתִי
