Lettera ai Romani 10

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Fratelli, il desiderio del mio cuore e la preghiera a Dio per essi tendono alla loro salvezza.	1 Brothers, my dearest wish and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.
2 Do infatti loro atto che hanno zelo per Dio, ma non secondo una retta conoscenza.	2 I readily testify to their fervour for God, but it is misguided.
3 Non volendo infatti riconoscere la giustizia di Dio e cercando di far sussistere la propria, non si sono sottomessi alla giustizia di Dio.	3 Not recognising God's saving justice they have tried to establish their own, instead of submitting tothe saving justice of God.
4 Infatti il culmine della legge è Cristo, per portare la giustificazione a ognuno che crede.	4 But the Law has found its fulfilment in Christ so that al who have faith wil be justified.
5 Mosè infatti scrive riguardo alla giustizia quale proviene dalla legge: L'uomo che la metterà in pratica vivrà in essa.	5 Moses writes of the saving justice that comes by the Law and says that whoever complies with it wilfind life in it.
6 La giustizia invece che viene dalla fede dice così: Non dire in cuor tuo: Chi salirà al cielo? nel senso di farne scendere Cristo.	6 But the saving justice of faith says this: Do not think in your heart, 'Who wil go up to heaven?' --
7 Oppure: Chi scenderà nell'abisso? nel senso di far risalire Cristo dai morti.	7 that is to bring Christ down; or 'Who wil go down to the depths?' -- that is to bring Christ back fromthe dead.
8 Ma che dice? La parola è vicino a te, nella tua bocca e nel tuo cuore. E questa è la parola della fede che noi proclamiamo:	8 What does it say, then? The word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, theword of faith, the faith which we preach,
9 se tu professerai con la tua bocca Gesù come Signore, e crederai nel tuo cuore che Dio lo ha risuscitato da morte, sarai salvato.	9 that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with your heart that Godraised him from the dead, then you wil be saved.
10 Col cuore infatti si crede per ottenere la giustificazione, con la bocca si fa la professione per ottenere la salvezza.	10 It is by believing with the heart that you are justified, and by making the declaration with your lipsthat you are saved.
11 Dice infatti la Scrittura: Chiunque crederà in lui non rimarrà confuso.	11 When scripture says: No one who relies on this wil be brought to disgrace,
12 Infatti non c'è distinzione tra Giudei e Greci: poiché lo stesso è il Signore di tutti e spande le sue ricchezze su tutti coloro che lo invocano,	12 it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: the same Lord is the Lord of all, and his generosityis offered to al who appeal to him,
13 e chiunque avrà invocato il nome del Signore sarà salvato.	13 for al who cal on the name of the Lord wil be saved.
14 Ma come avrebbero potuto invocare uno nel quale non credettero? Come avrebbero potuto credere in uno che non udirono? Come potrebbero aver udito senza uno che annuncia?	14 How then are they to call on him if they have not come to believe in him? And how can they believein him if they have never heard of him? And how wil they hear of him unless there is a preacher for them?
15 Come avrebbero potuto annunciare se non fossero stati inviati? Come sta scritto: Quanto belli sono i piedi di coloro che portano il buon annuncio del bene! Ma non tutti obbedirono al buon annuncio.	15 And how wil there be preachers if they are not sent? As scripture says: How beautiful are the feet ofthe messenger of good news.
16 Isaia infatti dice: Signore, chi mai credette alla nostra predicazione?	16 But in fact they have not all responded to the good news. As Isaiah says: Lord, who has givencredence to what they have heard from us?
17 Ora la fede dipende dalla predicazione, la predicazione si realizza per mezzo della parola di Cristo.	17 But it is in that way faith comes, from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ.
18 Ma io dico: non hanno forse udito? Tutt'altro: La loro voce ha risuonato su tutta la terra, le loro parole sono giunte fino ai confini della terra abitata.	18 Wel then, I say, is it possible that they have not heard? Indeed they have: in the entire earth theirvoice stands out, their message reaches the whole world.
19 Però domando: Israele non ha forse compreso? Mosè per primo dice: Io provocherò la vostra gelosia nei riguardi di una non-nazione, ecciterò il vostro dispetto nei riguardi di una nazione insensata.	19 Wel , another question, then: is it possible that Israel did not understand? In the first place Mosessaid: I shal rouse you to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate you with a stupid nation.
20 Isaia, poi, osa aggiungere: Sono stato trovato da quelli che non mi cercavano, sono divenuto manifesto a quelli che non mi interrogavano.	20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say: I have let myself be found by those who did not seek me; Ihave let myself be seen by those who did not consult me;
21 Invece riguardo a Israele dice: Per tutto il giorno stesi le mie mani a un popolo che disubbidiva e si ribellava.	21 and referring to Israel, he says: Al day long I have been stretching out my hands to a disobedientand rebel ious people.
