Now on the morning of the Sabbath, when it began to grow light on the first Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulcher.1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
And behold, a great earthquake occurred. For an Angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and as he approached, he rolled back the stone and sat down on it.2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.
Now his appearance was like lightning, and his vestment was like snow.3 His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow.
Then, out of fear of him, the guards were terrified, and they became like dead men.4 The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men.
Then the Angel responded by saying to the women: “Do not be afraid. For I know that you are seeking Jesus, who was crucified.5 Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.
He is not here. For he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where the Lord was placed.6 He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
And then, go quickly, and tell his disciples that he has risen. And behold, he will precede you to Galilee. There you shall see him. Lo, I have told you beforehand.”7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."
And they went out of the tomb quickly, with fear and in great joy, running to announce it to his disciples.8 Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples.
And behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Hail.” But they drew near and took hold of his feet, and they adored him.9 And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage.
Then Jesus said to them: “Do not be afraid. Go, announce it to my brothers, so that they may go to Galilee. There they shall see me.”10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."
And when they had departed, behold, some of the guards went into the city, and they reported to the leaders of the priests all that had happened.11 While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened.
And gathering together with the elders, having taken counsel, they gave an abundant sum of money to the soldiers,12 They assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,
saying: “Say that his disciples arrived at night and stole him away, while we were sleeping.13 telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.'
And if the procurator hears about this, we will persuade him, and we will protect you.”14 And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy (him) and keep you out of trouble."
Then, having accepted the money, they did as they were instructed. And this word has been spread among the Jews, even to this day.15 The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present (day).
Now the eleven disciples went on to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them.16 The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
And, seeing him, they worshipped him, but certain ones doubted.17 When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
And Jesus, drawing near, spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.18 Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore, go forth and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have ever commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the consummation of the age.”20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
