1 A Canticle in steps. When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion, we became like those who are consoled.	1 Cantico dei gradi. Quando il Signore fè tornare quelli di Sion dalla cattività, noi fummo come uomini ricolmi di consolazione:
2 Then our mouth was filled with gladness and our tongue with exultation. Then they will say among the nations: “The Lord has done great things for them.”	2 Allora fu ripiena di gaudio la nostra bocca, e la nostra lingua di giubilo.
3 The Lord has done great things for us. We have become joyful.	3 Allora dirassi tralle nazioni: Il Signore ha fatte cose grandi per essi.
4 Convert our captivity, O Lord, like a torrent in the south.	4 Il Signore ha fatto cose grandi per noi: siamo inondati di letizia.
5 Those who sow in tears shall reap in exultation.	5 Riconduci, o Signore, i nostri dalla cattività, quasi torrente al soffio dell'austro.
6 When departing, they went forth and wept, sowing their seeds.	6 Quei, che seminano tralle lagrime, mieteranno con giubilo.
7 But when returning, they will arrive with exultation, carrying their sheaves.	7 Camminavano, e andavan piangendo a spargere la loro semenza.
	8 Ma al ritorno verranno con festa grande, portando i loro manipoli.
