Psalmus. David, cum in deserto Iudae commoraretur. | 1 [Psalm Of David When he was in the desert of Judah] God, you are my God, I pine for you; my heartthirsts for you, my body longs for you, as a land parched, dreary and waterless. |
Deus, Deus meus es tu, ad te de luce vigilo. Sitivit in te anima mea, te desideravit caro mea. In terra deserta et arida et inaquosa, | 2 Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary, seeing your power and your glory. |
sic in sancto apparui tibi, ut viderem virtutem tuam et gloriam tuam. | 3 Better your faithful love than life itself; my lips wil praise you. |
Quoniam melior est misericordia tua super vitas, labia mea laudabunt te. | 4 Thus I will bless you al my life, in your name lift up my hands. |
Sic benedicam te in vita mea et in nomine tuo levabo manus meas. | 5 Al my longings fulfil ed as with fat and rich foods, a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth. |
Sicut adipe et pinguedine repleatur anima mea, et labiis exsultationis laudabit os meum. | 6 On my bed when I think of you, I muse on you in the watches of the night, |
Cum memor ero tui super stratum meum, in matutinis meditabor de te, | 7 for you have always been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice; |
quia fuisti adiutor meus, et in velamento alarum tuarum exsultabo. | 8 my heart clings to you, your right hand supports me. |
Adhaesit anima mea post te, me suscepit dextera tua. | 9 May those who are hounding me to death go down to the depths of the earth, |
Ipsi vero in ruinam quaesierunt animam meam, introibunt in inferiora terrae, | 10 given over to the blade of the sword, and left as food for jackals. |
tradentur in potestatem gladii, partes vulpium erunt. | 11 Then the king shall rejoice in God, al who swear by him shal gain recognition, for the mouths of liarsshall be silenced. |
Rex vero laetabitur in Deo; gloriabuntur omnes, qui iurant in eo, quia obstructum est os loquentium iniqua. |
