Isaiah 34

NEW JERUSALEM	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 Come near and listen, you nations, pay attention, you peoples. Let the earth and its contents listen, theworld and its entire population.	1 Avvicinatevi, o popoli, per udire, e voi, nazioni, prestate ascolto; oda la terra e quanti vi abitano, il mondo e quanto esso produce!
2 For Yahweh is angry with al the nations, enraged with al their hordes. He has vowed them todestruction, handed them over to slaughter.	2 Poiché Jahvè è adirato contro tutti i popoli ed è sdegnato contro tutti i loro eserciti; li ha votati all’anatema, li ha destinati al massacro.
3 Their dead wil be thrown away, the stench wil rise from their corpses, the mountains wil run with theirblood,	3 i loro trafitti sono gettati via, sì diffonde il fetore dei loro cadaveri; grondano i monti del loro sangue,
4 the entire array of heaven wil fall apart. The heavens wil be rol ed up like a scrol and al their array willfade away, as fade the leaves fal ing from the vine, as fade those fal ing from the fig tree.	4 ne sono intrise le valli. I cieli si arrotolano come un libro, tutte le loro schiere cadono come cade il pampino della vite e come il fogliame avvizzito del fico.
5 For my sword has drunk deep in the heavens: see how it now fal s on Edom, on the people vowed todestruction, to punish them.	5 Poiché nel cielo si è inebriata la spada di Jahvè, ecco, essa si abbatte su Edom, su un popolo che egli stermina per far giustizia.
6 Yahweh's sword is gorged with blood, it is greasy with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with thefat of the kidneys of rams. For Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.	6 La spada di Jahvè è piena di sangue, è tutta impinguata di adipe, del sangue di agnelli e di capri, delle viscere adipose dei montoni, perché offre un sacrificio Jahvè in Bozra, una grande ecatombe nel paese di Edom.
7 The wild oxen will fal with them, the bullocks with the bul s; their land wil be drenched with blood andtheir dust wil be greasy with fat.	7 Cadono bisonti insieme con vitelli grassi, giovenchi insieme con tori. La loro terra si imbeve di sangue, la polvere si impingua di grasso.
8 For this wil be Yahweh's day of vengeance, the year of retribution in Zion's lawsuit.	8 Poiché è il giorno della vendetta di Jahvè, l’anno della retribuzione per l’avversario di Sion.
9 Its streams will turn into pitch, its dust into brimstone, its country wil turn into blazing pitch.	9 Isuoi torrenti si cambieranno in pece, la sua polvere in zolfo, : la sua terra diventerà pece ardente.
10 Never quenched night or day, its smoke rising for ever, it wil lie waste age after age, no one wil travelthrough it for ever and ever.	10 Di notte e di giorno non si estinguerà, per sempre salirà il suo fumo; per tutte le età sarà distrutta, mai più alcuno l’attraverserà.
11 It wil be the haunt of pelican and hedgehog, the owl and the raven wil live there; over it Yahweh wilstretch the measuring line of chaos and the plumb-line of emptiness.	11 Ne prenderanno possesso il pellicano e il riccio; il gufo e il corvo vi faranno dimora. Il Signore stenderà su di essa la corda del vuoto e la livella del vacuo.
12 There will be no more nobles to proclaim the royal authority; there will be an end of al its princes.	12 Non ci saranno più i suoi nobili, non si proclameranno più re, tutti i suoi capi saranno ridotti a nulla.
13 Brambles wil grow in its bastions, nettles and thorn-bushes in its fortresses, it will be the lair ofjackals, an enclosure for ostriches.	13 Sui suoi palazzi si arrampicheranno le spine, ortiche e cardi sulle sue fortezze; diventerà una tana di sciacalli, un chiuso per gli struzzi.
14 Wild cats wil meet hyenas there, satyr will cal to satyr, there Lilith too wil lurk and find somewhere torest.	14 Cani selvatici si incontreranno con iene; i satiri si chiameranno l’un l’altro; ugualmente vi si poseranno le nottole che vi trovano una dimora tranquilla.
15 The snake wil nest and lay eggs there, will hatch and gather its young into the shade; and there thevultures wil assemble, each one with its mate.	15 Vi si anniderà il serpente, vi deporrà le uova, le riscalderà e le coverà con È sua ombra; vi si raduneranno pure gli sparvieri. L’uno chiama l’altro; nessuno si farà attendere.
16 Search in Yahweh's book, and read, not one of these will be missing, not one of them lacking a mate;for thus his mouth has ordained it, and his spirit has brought them together.	16 Ricercate sul libro di Jahvè e leggete; nessuno di essi vi mancherà, poiché la bocca di Jahvè lo ha comandato e il suo spirito li raduna.
17 He has thrown the lot for each, his hand has measured out their share; they wil possess it for ever,and live there age after age.	17 Egli ha gettato per loro le sorti; la sua mano ha diviso per loro il paese con misura; lo possederanno per sempre, lo abiteranno di generazione in generazione.
