KING JAMES BIBLENOVA VULGATA
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;1 Et vos, cum essetis mortui de lictis et peccatis vestris,
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:2 in qui busaliquando ambulastis secundum saeculum mundi huius, secundum principempotestatis aeris, spiritus, qui nunc operatur in filios diffidentiae;
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.3 inquibus et nos omnes aliquando conversati sumus in concupiscentiis carnisnostrae, facientes voluntates carnis et cogitationum, et eramus natura filiiirae, sicut et ceteri.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,4 Deus autem, qui dives est in misericordia, propternimiam caritatem suam, qua dilexit nos,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)5 et cum essemus mortui peccatis,convivificavit nos Christo — gratia estis salvati —
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:6 et conresuscitavit etconsedere fecit in caelestibus in Christo Iesu,
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.7 ut ostenderet in saeculissupervenientibus abundantes divitias gratiae suae in bonitate super nos inChristo Iesu.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:8 Gratia enim estis salvati per fidem; et hoc non ex vobis, Deidonum est:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.9 non ex operibus, ut ne quis glorietur.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.10 Ipsius enim sumusfactura, creati in Christo Iesu in opera bona, quae praeparavit Deus, ut inillis ambulemus.
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;11 Propter quod memores estote, quod aliquando vos gentes in carne, qui diciminipraeputium ab ea, quae dicitur circumcisio in carne manufacta,
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:12 quia eratisillo in tempore sine Christo, alienati a conversatione Israel et extraneitestamentorum promissionis, spem non habentes et sine Deo in mundo.
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.13 Nuncautem in Christo Iesu vos, qui aliquando eratis longe, facti estis prope insanguine Christi.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;14 Ipse est enim pax nostra, qui fecit utraque unum et mediumparietem maceriae solvit, inimicitiam, in carne sua,
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;15 legem mandatorum indecretis evacuans, ut duos condat in semetipso in unum novum hominem, facienspacem,
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:16 et reconciliet ambos in uno corpore Deo per crucem, interficiensinimicitiam in semetipso.
And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.17 Et veniens evangelizavit pacem vobis, qui longefuistis, et pacem his, qui prope;
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.18 quoniam per ipsum habemus accessum ambo inuno Spiritu ad Patrem.
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;19 Ergo iam non estis extranei et advenae, sed estis concives sanctorum etdomestici Dei,
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;20 superaedificati super fundamentum apostolorum et prophetarum,ipso summo angulari lapide Christo Iesu,
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:21 in quo omnis aedificatio compactacrescit in templum sanctum in Domino,
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.22 in quo et vos coaedificamini inhabitaculum Dei in Spiritu.
