Psalms 48

1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.	1 [Ein Lied. Ein Psalm der Korachiter.]
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.	2 Groß ist der Herr und hoch zu preisen in der Stadt unsres Gottes.
3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.	3 Sein heiliger Berg ragt herrlich empor; er ist die Freude der ganzen Welt. Der Berg Zion liegt weit im Norden; er ist die Stadt des großen Königs.
4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.	4 Gott ist in ihren Häusern bekannt als ein sicherer Schutz.
5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.	5 Denn seht: Die Könige vereinten sich und zogen gemeinsam heran;
6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.	6 doch als sie aufsahen, erstarrten sie vor Schreck, sie waren bestürzt und liefen davon.
7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.	7 Dort packte sie das Zittern, wie die Wehen eine gebärende Frau,
8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.	8 wie der Sturm vom Osten, der die Schiffe von Tarschisch zerschmettert.
9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.	9 Wie wir's gehört hatten, so erlebten wir's jetzt in der Stadt des Herrn der Heere, in der Stadt unsres Gottes; Gott lässt sie ewig bestehen. [Sela]
10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.	10 Über deine Huld, o Gott, denken wir nach in deinem heiligen Tempel.
11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.	11 Wie dein Name, Gott, so reicht dein Ruhm bis an die Enden der Erde; deine rechte Hand ist voll von Gerechtigkeit.
12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.	12 Der Berg Zion freue sich, die Töchter Judas sollen über deine gerechten Urteile jubeln.
13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.	13 Umkreist den Zion, umschreitet ihn, zählt seine Türme!
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.	14 Betrachtet seine Wälle, geht in seinen Palästen umher, damit ihr dem kommenden Geschlecht erzählen könnt:
	15 «Das ist Gott, unser Gott für immer und ewig. Er wird uns führen in Ewigkeit.»
