Psalms 48

1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.	1 'Cantico. Salmo. Dei figli di Core.'
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.	2 Grande è il Signore e degno di ogni lode nella città del nostro Dio.
3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.	3 Il suo monte santo, altura stupenda, è la gioia di tutta la terra. Il monte Sion, dimora divina, è la città del grande Sovrano.
4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.	4 Dio nei suoi baluardi è apparso fortezza inespugnabile.
5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.	5 Ecco, i re si sono alleati, sono avanzati insieme.
6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.	6 Essi hanno visto: attoniti e presi dal panico, sono fuggiti.
7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.	7 Là sgomento li ha colti, doglie come di partoriente,
8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.	8 simile al vento orientale che squarcia le navi di Tarsis.
9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.	9 Come avevamo udito, così abbiamo visto nella città del Signore degli eserciti, nella città del nostro Dio; Dio l'ha fondata per sempre.
10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.	10 Ricordiamo, Dio, la tua misericordia dentro il tuo tempio.
11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.	11 Come il tuo nome, o Dio, così la tua lode si estende sino ai confini della terra; è piena di giustizia la tua destra.
12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.	12 Gioisca il monte di Sion, esultino le città di Giuda a motivo dei tuoi giudizi.
13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.	13 Circondate Sion, giratele intorno, contate le sue torri.
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.	14 Osservate i suoi baluardi, passate in rassegna le sue fortezze, per narrare alla generazione futura:
	15 Questo è il Signore, nostro Dio in eterno, sempre: egli è colui che ci guida.
