Épître aux Hébreux 4

1 Craignons donc que l'un de vous n'estime arriver trop tard, alors qu'en fait la promesse d'entrerdans son repos reste en vigueur.	1 Therefore, we should be afraid, lest the promise of entering into his rest may be relinquished, and some of you may be judged to be lacking.
2 Car nous aussi nous avons reçu une bonne nouvelle absolument comme ceux-là. Mais la parolequ'ils avaient entendue ne leur servit de rien, parce qu'ils ne restèrent pas en communion par la foi avec ceux quiécoutèrent.	2 For this was announced to us in a similar manner as to them. But the mere hearing of the word did not benefit them, since it was not joined together with a faith in those things that they heard.
3 Nous entrons en effet, nous les croyants, dans un repos, selon qu'il a dit: Aussi ai-je juré dans macolère: Non, ils n'entreront pas dans mon repos. Les oeuvres de Dieu certes étaient achevées dès la fondation dumonde,	3 For we who have believed shall enter into rest, in the same manner as he said: “So it is as I have sworn in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest!” And certainly, this is when the works from the foundation of the world have been finished.
4 puisqu'il a dit quelque part au sujet du septième jour: Et Dieu se reposa le septième jour de toutesses oeuvres.	4 For, in a certain place, he spoke about the seventh day in this manner: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”
5 Et de nouveau en cet endroit: Ils n'entreront pas dans mon repos.	5 And in this place again: “They shall not enter into my rest!”
6 Ainsi donc, puisqu'il est acquis que certains doivent y entrer, et que ceux qui avaient reçu d'abordla bonne nouvelle n'y entrèrent pas à cause de leur désobéissance,	6 Therefore, this is because certain ones remain who are to enter into it, and those to whom it was announced first did not enter into it, because of unbelief.
7 de nouveau Dieu fixe un jour, un aujourd'hui, disant en David, après si longtemps, comme il a étédit ci-dessus: Aujourd'hui, si vous entendez sa voix, n'endurcissez pas vos coeurs...	7 Again, he defines a certain day, after so much time, saying in David, “Today,” just as it was stated above, “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”
8 Si Josué avait introduit les Israélites dans ce repos, Dieu n'aurait pas dans la suite parlé d'un autrejour.	8 For if Jesus had offered them rest, he would never have spoken, afterward, about another day.
9 C'est donc qu'un repos, celui du septième jour, est réservé au peuple de Dieu.	9 And so, there remains a Sabbath of rest for the people of God.
10 Car celui qui est entré dans son repos lui aussi se repose de ses oeuvres, comme Dieu des siennes.	10 For whoever has entered into his rest, the same has also rested from his works, just as God did from his.
11 Efforçons-nous dont d'entrer dans ce repos, afin que nul ne succombe, en imitant cet exemple dedésobéissance.	11 Therefore, let us hasten to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall into the same example of unbelief.
12 Vivante, en effet, est la parole de Dieu, efficace et plus incisive qu'aucun glaive à deux tranchants,elle pénètre jusqu'au point de division de l'âme et de l'esprit, des articulations et des moelles, elle peut juger lessentiments et les pensées du coeur.	12 For the Word of God is living and effective: more piercing than any two-edged sword, reaching to the division even between the soul and the spirit, even between the joints and the marrow, and so it discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 Aussi n'y a-t-il pas de créature qui reste invisible devant elle, mais tout est nu et découvert auxyeux de Celui à qui nous devons rendre compte.	13 And there is no created thing that is invisible to his sight. For all things are naked and open to the eyes of him, about whom we are speaking.
14 Ayant donc un grand prêtre souverain qui a traversé les cieux, Jésus, le Fils de Dieu, tenons fermela profession de foi.	14 Therefore, since we have a great High Priest, who has pierced the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, we should hold to our confession.
15 Car nous n'avons pas un grand prêtre impuissant à compatir à nos faiblesses, lui qui a été éprouvéen tout, d'une manière semblable, à l'exception du péché.	15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to have compassion on our infirmities, but rather one who was tempted in all things, just as we are, yet without sin.
16 Avançons-nous donc avec assurance vers le trône de la grâce afin d'obtenir miséricorde et detrouver grâce, pour une aide opportune.	16 Therefore, let us go forth with confidence toward the throne of grace, so that we may obtain mercy, and find grace, in a helpful time.
