1 Quand je parlerais les langues des hommes et des anges, si je n'ai pas la charité, je ne suisplus qu'airain qui sonne ou cymbale qui retentit.	1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 Quand j'aurais le don de prophétie et que je connaîtrais tous les mystères et toute la science,quand j'aurais la plénitude de la foi, une foi à transporter des montagnes, si je n'ai pas la charité, je ne suis rien.	2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 Quand je distribuerais tous mes biens en aumônes, quand je livrerais mon corps auxflammes, si je n'ai pas la charité, cela ne me sert de rien.	3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 La charité est longanime; la charité est serviable; elle n'est pas envieuse; la charité nefanfaronne pas, ne se gonfle pas;	4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 elle ne fait rien d'inconvenant, ne cherche pas son intérêt, ne s'irrite pas, ne tient pas comptedu mal;	5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 elle ne se réjouit pas de l'injustice, mais elle met sa joie dans la vérité.	6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Elle excuse tout, croit tout, espère tout, supporte tout.	7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 La charité ne passe jamais. Les prophéties? Elles disparaîtront. Les langues? Elles se tairont.La science? Elle disparaîtra.	8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 Car partielle est notre science, partielle aussi notre prophétie.	9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 Mais quand viendra ce qui est parfait, ce qui est partiel disparaîtra.	10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 Lorsque j'étais enfant, je parlais en enfant, je pensais en enfant, je raisonnais en enfant; unefois devenu homme, j'ai fait disparaître ce qui était de l'enfant.	11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 Car nous voyons, à présent, dans un miroir, en énigme, mais alors ce sera face à face. Aprésent, je connais d'une manière partielle; mais alors je connaîtrai comme je suis connu.	12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 Maintenant donc demeurent foi, espérance, charité, ces trois choses, mais la plus granded'entre elles, c'est la charité.	13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
