1 Paul, appelé à être apôtre du Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, et Sosthène, le frère,	1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:
2 à l'Eglise de Dieu établie à Corinthe, à ceux qui ont été sanctifiés dans le Christ Jésus, appelésà être saints avec tous ceux qui en tout lieu invoquent le nom de Jésus Christ notre Seigneur, le leur et le nôtre;	2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.
3 à vous grâce et paix de par Dieu, notre Père, et le Seigneur Jésus Christ!	3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Je rends grâce à Dieu sans cesse à votre sujet pour la grâce de Dieu qui vous a été accordéedans le Christ Jésus;	4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.
5 car vous avez été comblés en lui de toutes les richesses, toutes celles de la parole et toutescelles de la science,	5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.
6 à raison même de la fermeté qu'a prise en vous le témoignage du Christ.	6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.
7 Aussi ne manquez-vous d'aucun don de la grâce, dans l'attente où vous êtes de la Révélationde notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.	7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8 C'est lui qui vous affermira jusqu'au bout, pour que vous soyez irréprochables au Jour de notreSeigneur Jésus Christ.	8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Il est fidèle, le Dieu par qui vous avez été appelés à la communion de son Fils, Jésus Christnotre Seigneur.	9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Je vous en prie, frères, par le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, ayez tous même langage;qu'il n'y ait point parmi vous de divisions; soyez étroitement unis dans le même esprit et dans la même pensée.	10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.
11 En effet, mes frères, il m'a été signalé à votre sujet par les gens de Chloé qu'il y a parmi vousdes discordes.	11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.
12 J'entends par là que chacun de vous dit: "Moi, je suis à Paul" - "Et moi, à Apollos" - "Et moi,à Céphas" - "Et moi, au Christ."	12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”
13 Le Christ est-il divisé? Serait-ce Paul qui a été crucifié pour vous? Ou bien serait-ce au nomde Paul que vous avez été baptisés?	13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 Je rends grâce de n'avoir baptisé aucun de vous, si ce n'est Crispus et Caïus,	14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 de sorte que nul ne peut dire que vous avez été baptisés en mon nom.	15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.
16 Ah si! j'ai baptisé encore la famille de Stéphanas. Pour le reste, je ne sache pas avoir baptiséquelqu'un d'autre.	16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.
17 Car le Christ ne m'a pas envoyé baptiser, mais annoncer l'Evangile, et cela sans la sagesse dulangage, pour que ne soit pas réduite à néant la croix du Christ.	17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.
18 Le langage de la croix, en effet, est folie pour ceux qui se perdent, mais pour ceux qui sesauvent, pour nous, il est puissance de Dieu.	18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.
19 Car il est écrit: Je détruirai la sagesse des sages, et l'intelligence des intelligents je larejetterai.	19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”
20 Où est-il, le sage? Où est-il, l'homme cultivé? Où est-il, le raisonneur de ce siècle? Dieu n'a-t-il pas frappé de folie la sagesse du monde?	20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?
21 Puisqu'en effet le monde, par le moyen de la sagesse, n'a pas reconnu Dieu dans la sagesse deDieu, c'est par la folie du message qu'il a plu à Dieu de sauver les croyants.	21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.
22 Alors que les Juifs demandent des signes et que les Grecs sont en quête de sagesse,	22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.
23 nous proclamons, nous, un Christ crucifié, scandale pour les Juifs et folie pour les païens,	23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.
24 mais pour ceux qui sont appelés, Juifs et Grecs, c'est le Christ, puissance de Dieu et sagessede Dieu.	24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Car ce qui est folie de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes, et ce qui est faiblesse de Dieu estplus fort que les hommes.	25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.
26 Aussi bien, frères, considérez votre appel: il n'y a pas beaucoup de sages selon la chair, pasbeaucoup de puissants, pas beaucoup de gens bien nés.	26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.
27 Mais ce qu'il y a de fou dans le monde, voilà ce que Dieu a choisi pour confondre les sages;ce qu'il y a de faible dans le monde, voilà ce que Dieu a choisi pour confondre ce qui est fort;	27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.
28 ce qui dans le monde est sans naissance et ce que l'on méprise, voilà ce que Dieu a choisi; cequi n'est pas, pour réduire à rien ce qui est,	28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.
29 afin qu'aucune chair n'aille se glorifier devant Dieu.	29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.
30 Car c'est par Lui que vous êtes dans le Christ Jésus qui est devenu pour nous sagesse venantde Dieu, justice, sanctification et rédemption,	30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.
31 afin que, comme il est écrit, celui qui se glorifie, qu'il se glorifie dans le Seigneur.	31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”
