Livre de Jonas 2

1 Yahvé fit qu'il y eut un grand poisson pour engloutir Jonas. Jonas demeura dans les entrailles dupoisson trois jours et trois nuits.	1 And the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights.
2 Des entrailles du poisson, il pria Yahvé, son Dieu. Il dit:	2 And Jonah prayed to the Lord, his God, from the belly of the fish.
3 De la détresse où j'étais, j'ai crié vers Yahvé, et il m'a répondu; du sein du shéol, j'ai appelé, tu asentendu ma voix.	3 And he said: “I cried out to the Lord from my tribulation, and he heeded me. From the belly of hell, I cried out, and you heeded my voice.
4 Tu m'avais jeté dans les profondeurs, au coeur de la mer, et le flot m'environnait. Toutes tes vagues ettes lames ont passé sur moi.	4 And you have thrown me into the deep, in the heart of the sea, and a flood has encircled me. All your whirlpools and your waves have passed over me.
5 Et moi je disais: Je suis rejeté de devant tes yeux. Comment contemplerai-je encore ton saint Temple?	5 And I said: I am expelled from the sight of your eyes. Yet, truly, I will see your holy temple again.
6 Les eaux m'avaient environné jusqu'à la gorge, l'abîme me cernait. L'algue était enroulée autour de matête.	6 The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The abyss has walled me in. The ocean has covered my head.
7 A la racine des montagnes j'étais descendu, en un pays dont les verrous étaient tirés sur moi pourtoujours. Mais de la fosse tu as fait remonter ma vie, Yahvé, mon Dieu.	7 I descended to the base of the mountains. The bars of the earth have enclosed me forever. And you will raise up my life from corruption, Lord, my God.
8 Tandis qu'en moi mon âme défaillait, je me suis souvenu de Yahvé, et ma prière est allée jusqu'à toien ton saint Temple.	8 When my soul was in anguish within me, I called to mind the Lord, so that my prayer might come to you, to your holy temple.
9 Ceux qui servent des vanités trompeuses, c'est leur grâce qu'ils abandonnent.	9 Those who in vain observe vanities, abandon their own mercy.
10 Moi, aux accents de la louange, je t'offrirai des sacrifices. Le voeu que j'ai fait, je l'accomplirai. DeYahvé vient le salut.	10 But I, with a voice of praise, will sacrifice to you. I will repay whatever I have vowed to the Lord, because of my salvation.”
11 Yahvé commanda au poisson, qui vomit Jonas sur le rivage.	11 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
