Livre de Daniel 8

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En l'an trois du règne du roi Balthazar, une vision m'apparut, à moi Daniel, après celle qui m'étaitapparue en premier.	1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.
2 Je contemplais la vision, et tandis que je contemplais, je me trouvais à Suse, la place forte qui estdans la province d'Elam; et, contemplant la vision, je me trouvais à la porte de l'Ulaï.	2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.
3 Je levai les yeux pour voir. Voici: un bélier se tenait devant la porte. Il avait deux cornes; les deuxcornes étaient hautes, mais l'une plus que l'autre, et la plus haute qui se dressa fut la seconde.	3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.
4 Je vis le bélier donner de la corne vers l'ouest, vers le nord et vers le sud. Nulle bête ne pouvait luirésister, rien ne pouvait lui échapper. Il faisait ce qui lui plaisait et devint puissant.	4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.
5 Voici ce que je discernai: un bouc vint de l'occident, ayant parcouru la terre entière mais sans toucherle sol, et le bouc avait une corne "magnifique" entre les yeux.	5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.
6 Il s'approcha du bélier aux deux cornes que j'avais vu se tenir devant la porte, et courut vers lui dansl'ardeur de sa force.	6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.
7 Je le vis atteindre et affronter le bélier: il était en rage contre lui et frappa le bélier, lui brisant lesdeux cornes, sans que le bélier eût la force de lui résister; il le jeta à terre et le foula aux pieds; personne n'était làpour délivrer le bélier.	7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.
8 Le bouc devint très puissant, mais, en pleine force, la grande corne se brisa et à sa place se dressèrentquatre "magnifiques" à l'encontre des quatre vents du ciel.	8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.
9 De l'une d'elles, de la petite, sortit une corne, mais qui grandit beaucoup dans la direction du sud etde l'orient et du Pays de Splendeur.	9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.
10 Elle grandit jusqu'aux armées du ciel, précipita à terre des armées et des étoiles et les foula auxpieds.	10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.
11 Elle s'exalta même contre le Prince de l'armée, abolit le sacrifice perpétuel et renversa le fondementde son sanctuaire	11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,
12 et l'armée; sur le sacrifice elle posa l'iniquité et renversa à terre la vérité; elle agit et réussit.	12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.
13 J'entendis un saint qui parlait, et un autre saint dit à celui qui parlait: "Jusques à quand la vision: lesacrifice perpétuel, désolation de l'iniquité, sanctuaire et légion foulés aux pieds?"	13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'
14 Il lui dit: "Encore 2.300 soirs et matins, alors le sanctuaire sera revendiqué."	14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'
15 Moi, Daniel, contemplant cette vision, j'en cherchai l'intelligence. Voici, se tenant devant moi,quelqu'un qui avait l'aspect d'un homme.	15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.
16 J'entendis une voix d'homme, sur l'Ulaï, criant: "Gabriel, donne-lui l'intelligence de cette vision!"	16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'
17 Il s'avança vers le lieu où je me tenais, et, comme il approchait, je fus saisi de terreur et tombai facecontre terre. Il me dit: "Fils d'homme, comprends: c'est le temps de la Fin que révèle la vision."	17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'
18 Il parlait encore que je m'évanouis, la face contre terre. Il me toucha et me releva.	18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.
19 Il dit: "Voici, je vais te faire connaître ce qui viendra à la fin de la Colère, pour la Fin assignée.	19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.
20 Le bélier que tu as vu, ses deux cornes, ce sont les rois des Mèdes et des Perses.	20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.
21 Le bouc velu est le roi de Yavân, la grande corne qui est entre ses yeux, c'est le premier roi.	21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.
22 La corne brisée et les quatre cornes qui ont poussé à sa place, sont quatre royaumes issus de sanation mais qui n'auront pas sa force.	22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.
23 "Et au terme de leur règne, au temps de la plénitude de leurs péché, se lèvera un roi au visage fier,sachant pénétrer les énigmes.	23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.
24 Sa puissance croîtra en force, - mais non par sa propre puissance - il tramera des choses inouïes ilprospérera dans ses entreprises, il détruira des puissants et le peuple des saints.	24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.
25 Et, par son intelligence, la trahison réussira entre ses mains. Il s'exaltera dans son coeur et détruiraun grand nombre par surprise. Il s'opposera au Prince des Princes, mais - sans acte de main - il sera brisé.	25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.
26 Elle est vraie, la vision des soirs et des matins qui a été dite, mais, toi, garde silence sur la vision,car il doit s'écouler bien des jours."	26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'
27 Alors, moi Daniel, je défaillis et je fus malade plusieurs jours. Puis je me levai, pour accomplir monoffice auprès du roi, gardant silence sur la vision, et demeurant sans la comprendre.	27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.
