Lévitique 20

1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:	1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Tu diras aux Israélites: Quiconque, Israélite ou étranger résidant en Israël, livre de ses fils àMolek devra mourir. Les gens du pays le lapideront,	2 You shall speak these things to the sons of Israel: A man among the sons Israel, or among the newcomers who live in Israel, if he will have given from his seed to the idol Moloch, he shall be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him.
3 je me tournerai contre cet homme et le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple, car en ayant livrél'un de ses fils à Molek il aura souillé mon sanctuaire et profané mon saint nom.	3 And I will set my face against him. And I will cut him down from the midst of his people, because he has given from his seed to Moloch, and he has contaminated my Sanctuary, and polluted my holy name.
4 Si les gens du pays veulent fermer les yeux sur cet homme quand il livre l'un de ses fils à Moleket ne le mettent pas à mort,	4 But if the people of the land, having been neglectful and holding little regard for my authority, release the man who has given from his seed to Moloch, and they are not willing to kill him,
5 c'est moi qui m'opposerai à cet homme et à son clan. Je les retrancherai du milieu de leur peuple,lui et tous ceux qui après lui iront se prostituer à la suite de Molek.	5 I will set my face over that man and over his kindred, and I will cut down both him and all who consented with him to fornicate with Moloch, from the midst of their people.
6 Celui qui s'adressera aux spectres et aux devins pour se prostituer à leur suite, je me tourneraicontre cet homme-là et je le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple.	6 The soul who will have turned aside to astrologers and soothsayers, and who will have fornicated with them, I will set my face against him, and I will destroy him from the midst of his people.
7 Vous vous sanctifierez pour être saints, car je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.	7 Be sanctified and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.
8 Vous garderez mes lois et vous les mettrez en pratique, car c'est moi Yahvé qui vous rendssaints.	8 Observe my precepts, and do them. I am the Lord, who sanctifies you.
9 Donc: Quiconque maudira son père ou sa mère devra mourir. Puisqu'il a maudit son père ou samère, son sang retombera sur lui-même.	9 Whoever curses his father or mother shall die a death; he has cursed his father and mother. So let his blood be upon him.
10 L'homme qui commet l'adultère avec la femme de son prochain devra mourir, lui et sacomplice.	10 If anyone will have committed sexual acts with the wife of another, or will have perpetrated adultery with his neighbor’s spouse, they shall die a death, both the adulterer and the adulteress.
11 L'homme qui couche avec la femme de son père a découvert la nudité de son père. Tous deuxdevront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.	11 Whoever will have slept with his stepmother, or will have uncovered the shame of his father, they shall both die a death. So let their blood be upon them.
12 L'homme qui couche avec sa belle-fille: tous deux devront mourir. Ils se sont souillés, leur sangretombera sur eux.	12 If any man will have slept with his daughter-in-law, both shall die, for they have acted according to wickedness. So let their blood be upon them.
13 L'homme qui couche avec un homme comme on couche avec une femme: c'est uneabomination qu'ils ont tous deux commise, ils devront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.	13 If any man has slept with a male in place of sexual intercourse with a female, both have committed a nefarious act, they shall die a death. So let their blood be upon them.
14 L'homme qui prend pour épouses une femme et sa mère: c'est un inceste. On les brûlera, lui etelles, pour qu'il n'y ait point chez vous d'inceste.	14 If any man, having taken the daughter as a wife, will have married her mother, he has acted according to wickedness. He shall be burnt alive with them. Neither shall so great a nefarious act persist in your midst.
15 L'homme qui donne sa couche à une bête: il devra mourir et vous tuerez la bête.	15 Whoever will have committed sexual acts with any animal or cattle, he shall die a death. Likewise, you shall slay the beast.
16 La femme qui s'approche d'un animal quelconque pour s'accoupler à lui: tu tueras la femme etl'animal. Ils devront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.	16 The woman who will have lain under any animal at all shall be destroyed together with it. So let their blood be upon them.
17 L'homme qui prend pour épouse sa soeur, la fille de son père ou la fille de sa mère: s'il voit sanudité et qu'elle voie la sienne, c'est une ignominie. Ils seront exterminés sous les yeux des membres de leurpeuple, car il a découvert la nudité de sa soeur et il portera le poids de sa faute.	17 Whoever will have taken his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother, and will have seen her nakedness, and she will have looked upon her brother’s shame, they have committed a nefarious act. They shall be slain in the sight of their people, because they have uncovered one another’s nakedness. And they shall bear their iniquity.
18 L'homme qui couche avec une femme pendant ses règles et découvre sa nudité: il a mis à nu lasource de son sang, elle-même a découvert la source de son sang, aussi tous deux seront retranchés du milieu deleur peuple.	18 Whoever has sexual intercourse with a woman in her menstrual flow, and has uncovered her nakedness, and she has opened the fountain of her blood, both shall be destroyed from the midst of their people.
19 Tu ne découvriras pas la nudité de la soeur de ta mère ni celle de la soeur de ton père. Il a mis ànu sa propre chair, ils porteront le poids de leur faute.	19 You shall not expose the nakedness of your maternal or paternal aunt. Whoever does this has laid bare the shame of his own flesh; both shall bear their iniquity.
20 L'homme qui couche avec la femme de son oncle paternel: il a découvert la nudité de celui-ci,ils porteront le poids de leur péché et mourront sans enfant.	20 If any man has had sexual intercourse with the wife of his paternal or maternal uncle, and he has uncovered the shame of his close relative, both shall bear their sin. They shall die without children.
21 L'homme qui prend pour épouse la femme de son frère: c'est une souillure, il a découvert lanudité de son frère, ils mourront sans enfant.	21 Whoever will have married his brother’s wife has done an unlawful thing; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They shall be without children.
22 Vous garderez toutes mes lois, toutes mes coutumes, et vous les mettrez en pratique; ainsi nevous vomira pas le pays où je vous conduis pour y demeurer.	22 Observe my laws as well as my judgments, and act according to them, lest the land, into which you will enter and live, may vomit you out, too.
23 Vous ne suivrez pas les lois des nations que je chasse devant vous car elles ont pratiqué toutesces choses et je les ai prises en dégoût.	23 Do not be willing to walk by the ordinances of the nations, which I will expel before you. For they have done all these things, and so I abominate them.
24 Aussi vous ai-je dit: "Vous prendrez possession de leur sol, je vous en donnerai moi-même lapossession, une terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel." C'est moi Yahvé votre Dieu qui vous ai mis à part de cespeuples.	24 But I say to you: Possess their land, which I will give to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the other peoples.
25 Mettez donc la bête pure à part de l'impure, l'oiseau pur à part de l'impur. Ne vous rendez pasvous-mêmes immondes avec ces bêtes, ces oiseaux, avec tout ce qui rampe sur le sol: je vous les ai fait mettre àpart comme impurs.	25 Therefore, you must also separate the clean animals from the unclean, and the clean birds from the unclean. Do not pollute your souls with cattle, or birds, or anything that moves upon the earth, and which I have shown you to be unclean.
26 Soyez-moi consacrés puisque moi, Yahvé, je suis saint, et je vous mettrai à part de tous cespeuples pour que vous soyez à moi.	26 You shall be holy unto me, because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples, so that you would be mine.
27 L'homme ou la femme qui parmi vous serait nécromant ou devin: ils seront mis à mort, on leslapidera, leur sang retombera sur eux.	27 A man or a woman, in whom there is an oracle-like or a divining spirit, shall be put to death. They shall stone them. So let their blood be upon them.
