JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Approchez, nations, pour écouter, peuples, soyez attentifs, que la terre écoute, et ce qui l'emplit, lemonde et tout son peuplement.	1 Come near, O nations, and hear; be attentive, O peoples! Let the earth and what fills it listen, the world and all it produces.
2 Car c'est une colère de Yahvé contre toutes les nations, une fureur contre toute leur armée. Il les avouées à l'anathème, livrées au carnage.	2 The LORD is angry with all the nations and is wrathful against all their host; he has doomed them and given them over to slaughter.
3 Leurs victimes sont jetées dehors, la puanteur de leurs cadavres se répand, les montagnes ruissellentde sang,	3 Their slain shall be cast out, their corpses shall send up a stench; The mountains shall run with their blood,
4 toute l'armée des cieux se disloque. Les cieux s'enroulent comme un livre, toute leur armée se flétrit,comme se flétrissent les feuilles qui tombent de la vigne, comme se flétrissent celles qui tombent du figuier.	4 and all the hills shall rot; The heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll, and all their host shall wither away, As the leaf wilts on the vine, or as the fig withers on the tree.
5 Car mon épée s'est abreuvée dans les cieux: Voici qu'elle s'abat sur Edom, sur le peuple voué àl'anathème, pour le punir.	5 When my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens, lo, it shall come down in judgment upon Edom, a people I have doomed.
6 L'épée de Yahvé est pleine de sang, gluante de graisse, du sang des agneaux et des boucs, de lagraisse des rognons de béliers; car il y a pour Yahvé un sacrifice à Boçra, un grand carnage au pays d'Edom.	6 The LORD has a sword filled with blood, greasy with fat, With the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of rams' kidneys; For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 Les buffles tombent avec eux, les veaux avec les boeufs gras, leur terre est abreuvée de sang, leurpoussière engluée de graisse.	7 Wild oxen shall be struck down with fatlings, and bullocks with bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, and their earth greasy with fat.
8 Car c'est un jour de vengeance pour Yahvé, l'année de la rétribution, dans le procès de Sion.	8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of requital by Zion's defender.
9 Ses torrents se changent en poix, sa poussière en soufre, son pays devient de la poix brûlante.	9 Edom's streams shall be changed into pitch and her earth into sulphur, and her land shall become burning pitch;
10 Nuit et jour il ne s'éteint pas, éternellement s'élève sa fumée, d'âge en âge il sera desséché, toujourset à jamais, personne n'y passera.	10 Night and day it shall not be quenched, its smoke shall rise forever. From generation to generation she shall lie waste, never again shall anyone pass through her.
11 Ce sera le domaine du pélican et du hérisson, la chouette et le corbeau l'habiteront; Yahvé y tendra lecordeau du chaos et le niveau du vide.	11 But the desert owl and hoot owl shall possess her, the screech owl and raven shall dwell in her. The LORD will measure her with line and plummet to be an empty waste for satyrs to dwell in.
12 De nobles, il n'y en a plus pour proclamer la royauté, c'en est fini de tous ses princes.	12 Her nobles shall be no more, nor shall kings be proclaimed there; all her princes are gone.
13 Dans ses bastions croîtront les ronces, dans ses forteresses, l'ortie et l'épine; ce sera une tanière dechacals, un enclos pour les autruches.	13 Her castles shall be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers. She shall become an abode for jackals and a haunt for ostriches.
14 Les chats sauvages rencontreront les hyènes, le satyre appellera le satyre, là encore se tapira Lilith,elle trouvera le repos.	14 Wildcats shall meet with desert beasts, satyrs shall call to one another; There shall the lilith repose, and find for herself a place to rest.
15 Là nichera le serpent, il pondra, fera éclore ses oeufs, groupera ses petits à l'ombre. Là encore serassembleront les vautours, les uns vers les autres.	15 There the hoot owl shall nest and lay eggs, hatch them out and gather them in her shadow; There shall the kites assemble, none shall be missing its mate.
16 Cherchez dans le livre de Yahvé et lisez: il n'en manque pas un, pas un n'est privé de soncompagnon. C'est ainsi que sa bouche l'a ordonné, son esprit, lui, les rassemble.	16 Look in the book of the LORD and read: No one of these shall be lacking, For the mouth of the LORD has ordered it, and his spirit shall gather them there.
17 Et c'est lui qui pour eux a jeté le sort, sa main a fixé leur part au cordeau, pour toujours ils laposséderont, d'âge en âge ils y habiteront.	17 It is he who casts the lot for them, and with his hands he marks off their shares of her; They shall possess her forever, and dwell there from generation to generation.
