Jeremija 26

1 U početku kraljevanja Jojakima, sina Jošijina, kralja Judina, dođe mi riječ Jahvina.	1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiahfrom Yahweh,
2 Ovako govori Jahve: »Stani u predvorju doma Jahvina i svim gradovima judejskim koji dolaze da se poklone u domu Jahvinu naviještaj sve riječi koje sam ti zapovjedio da im kažeš. I ne izostavi ni jedne jedine.	2 'Yahweh says this, "Stand in the court of the Temple of Yahweh. To al the people from the towns ofJudah who come to worship in the Temple of Yahweh you wil say everything I have ordered you to say, notomitting one syllable.
3 Možda će poslušati i vratiti se svaki sa zla puta svoga, pa ću se pokajati za zlo koje naumih učiniti zbog zlodjela njihovih.	3 Perhaps they wil listen and each turn from his evil way: if so, I shal relent and not bring the disaster onthem which I intend because of their misdeeds."
4 Reci im: Ovako govori Jahve: ‘Ako me ne poslušate da hodite po Zakonu što ga stavih pred vas,	4 Say to them, "Yahweh says this: If you will not listen to me and fol ow my Law which I have given you,
5 slušajući riječi slugu mojih proroka koje vam neumorno šaljem, premda ih do sada niste slušali,	5 and pay attention to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have never tired of sending to you,although you never have paid attention,
6 postupit ću s ovim domom kao sa Šilom i učinit ću da ovaj grad bude prokletstvo za sve narode na zemlji.’«	6 I shal treat this Temple as I treated Shiloh, and make this city a curse for al the nations of the world." '
7 I svećenici i proroci i sav narod slušahu Jeremiju kako naviješta te riječi u domu Jahvinu.	7 The priests and prophets and al the people heard Jeremiah say these words in the Temple of Yahweh.
8 A kad Jeremija izreče sve ono što mu je Gospod zapovjedio da naviješta svemu narodu, zgrabiše ga svećenici i proroci govoreći: »Platit ćeš glavom!	8 When Jeremiah had finished saying everything that Yahweh had ordered him to say to al the people,the priests and prophets and al the people seized hold of him and said, 'You will die for this!
9 Zašto si u ime Jahvino prorokovao: ‘Postupit ću s ovim domom kao sa Šilom i ovaj će grad biti opustošen te nitko više u njemu neće stanovati?’« I sav se narod skupi na Jeremiju u domu Jahvinu.	9 Why have you made this prophecy in Yahweh's name, "This Temple will become like Shiloh, and thiscity become an uninhabited ruin"?' And the people all crowded in on Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh.
10 Čuvši to, starješine judejske dođoše iz kraljevskog dvora u dom Jahvin i sjedoše pred Nova vrata doma Jahvina.	10 Hearing of this, the chief men of Judah came up from the royal palace to the Temple of Yahweh andtook their seats at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.
11 Tada svećenici i proroci rekoše starješinama i svemu narodu: »Ovaj je čovjek zaslužio smrt jer je prorokovao protiv ovoga grada, kao što ste čuli na svoje uši.«	11 The priests and prophets then said to the chief men and all the people, 'This man deserves to die,since he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.'
12 Tada Jeremija reče starješinama i svemu narodu: »Jahve me posla da prorokujem protiv ovoga doma i ovoga grada sve ono što ste čuli.	12 Jeremiah, however, replied to all the chief men and all the people as fol ows, 'Yahweh himself sentme to prophesy against this Temple and this city al the things you have heard.
13 Popravite, dakle, putove svoje i djela svoja i slušajte glas Jahve, Boga svoga: i pokajat će se za zlo kojim vam se zaprijetio.	13 So now amend your behaviour and actions, listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh wilrelent about the disaster that he has decreed for you.
14 Ja sam, evo, u vašim rukama. Učinite sa mnom što vam se čini dobro i pravo.	14 For myself, I am, as you see, in your hands. Do whatever you please or think right with me.
15 Ali dobro znajte: ako me pogubite, krv nedužnu navalit ćete na sebe, na ovaj grad i na njegove stanovnike. Jer, zaista, Jahve me posla k vama da u vaše uši govorim sve ove riječi.«	15 But be sure of this, that if you put me to death, you wil be bringing innocent blood on yourselves, onthis city and on its inhabitants, since Yahweh has truly sent me to you to say al this for you to hear.'
16 Tada rekoše starješine i sav narod svećenicima i prorocima: »Ovaj čovjek nipošto ne zaslužuje smrt, jer nam je govorio u ime Jahve, Boga našega.«	16 The chief men and al the people then said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve todie: he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.'
17 Nato ustadoše i neki od najuglednijih u zemlji te rekoše svemu mnoštvu naroda što se ondje okupilo:	17 And some of the country's elders rose to address al the assembled people.
18 »Mihej Morešećanin prorokovaše u dane Ezekije, kralja judejskog, i govoraše svemu narodu judejskom: ‘Ovako govori Jahve nad vojskama: Sion će biti polje preorano, Jeruzalem ruševina, a goru Doma ovog šuma će prekriti.’	18 'Micah of Moresheth,' they said, 'who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, had this tosay to all the people of Judah, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Zion wil become ploughland, Jerusalem a heap ofrubble and the Temple Mount a wooded height."
19 Je li ga zato pogubio Ezekija, kralj judejski, i sva Judeja? Nisu li se pobojali Jahve i nastojali da Jahvu umilostive, te se Jahve pokaja za zlo kojim im se bijaše zaprijetio? A mi, zar da na duše svoje navalimo tako velik zločin?«	19 'Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death for this? Did they not rather, fearingYahweh, plead with him, to such effect that Yahweh relented about the disaster which he had decreed for them?Are we now to burden our souls with such a crime?'
20 Bijaše ondje još neki koji prorokovaše u ime Jahvino, Urija, sin Šemajin, rodom iz Kirjat Jearima. I on prorokovaše protiv ovoga grada i zemlje ove kao i Jeremija.	20 There was another man, too, who used to prophesy in Yahweh's name, Uriah son of Shemaiah, fromKiriath-Jearim. He prophesied exactly the same things against this city and this country as Jeremiah.
21 A kad je kralj Jojakim sa svim ratnicima i zapovjednicima čuo te riječi, tražio je da ga smakne. Čuvši to, Urija se prestraši i pobježe u Egipat.	21 When King Jehoiakim with all his officers and all the chief men heard what he said, the king wasdetermined to put him to death. On hearing this, Uriah took fright and, fleeing, escaped to Egypt.
22 Ali kralj Jojakim posla u Egipat Elnatana, sina Akborova, s nekoliko ljudi;	22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Achbor to Egypt with others,
23 dovedoše oni Uriju iz Egipta i odvedoše ga kralju Jojakimu, koji ga mačem pogubi, a truplo njegovo baci na groblje prostoga puka.	23 who brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the swordand his body thrown into the common burial ground.
24 Ali Ahikam, sin Šafanov, zaštiti Jeremiju te ga ne predaše u ruke narodu da ga pogube.	24 But Jeremiah had a protector in Ahikam son of Shaphan, so he was not handed over to the people tobe put to death.
