1 Unto the end, a psalm for David himself.	1 [Für den Chormeister. Ein Psalm Davids.]
2 With expectation I have waited for the Lord, and he was attentive to me.	2 Ich hoffte, ja ich hoffte auf den Herrn. Da neigte er sich mir zu und hörte mein Schreien.
3 And he heard my prayers, and brought me out of the pit of misery and the mire of dregs. And he set my feet upon a rock, and directed my steps.	3 Er zog mich herauf aus der Grube des Grauens, aus Schlamm und Morast. Er stellte meine Füße auf den Fels, machte fest meine Schritte.
4 And he put a new canticle into my mouth, a song to our God. Many shall see, and shall fear : and they shall hope in the Lord.	4 Er legte mir ein neues Lied in den Mund, einen Lobgesang auf ihn, unsern Gott. Viele werden es sehen, sich in Ehrfurcht neigen und auf den Herrn vertrauen.
5 Blessed is the man whose trust is in the name of the Lord; and who hath not had regard to vanities, and lying follies.	5 Wohl dem Mann, der auf den Herrn sein Vertrauen setzt, sich nicht zu den Stolzen hält noch zu treulosen Lügnern.
6 Thou hast multiplied thy wonderful works, O Lord my God : and in thy thoughts there is no one like to thee. I have declared and I have spoken they are multiplied above number.	6 Zahlreich sind die Wunder, die du getan hast, und deine Pläne mit uns; Herr, mein Gott, nichts kommt dir gleich. Wollte ich von ihnen künden und reden, es wären mehr, als man zählen kann.
7 Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire; but thou hast pierced ears for me. Burnt offering and sin offering thou didst not require :	7 An Schlacht- und Speiseopfern hast du kein Gefallen, Brand- und Sündopfer forderst du nicht. Doch das Gehör hast du mir eingepflanzt;
8 then said I, Behold I come. In the head of the book it is written of me	8 darum sage ich: Ja, ich komme. In dieser Schriftrolle steht, was an mir geschehen ist.
9 that I should do thy will : O my God, I have desired it, and thy law in the midst of my heart.	9 Deinen Willen zu tun, mein Gott, macht mir Freude, deine Weisung trag ich im Herzen.
10 I have declared thy justice in a great church, lo, I will not restrain my lips : O Lord, thou knowest it.	10 Gerechtigkeit verkünde ich in großer Gemeinde, meine Lippen verschließe ich nicht; Herr, du weißt es.
11 I have not hid thy justice within my heart : I have declared thy truth and thy salvation. I have not concealed thy mercy and thy truth from a great council.	11 Deine Gerechtigkeit verberge ich nicht im Herzen, ich spreche von deiner Treue und Hilfe, ich schweige nicht über deine Huld und Wahrheit vor der großen Gemeinde.
12 Withhold not thou, O Lord, thy tender mercies from me : thy mercy and thy truth have always upheld me.	12 Du, Herr, verschließ mir nicht dein Erbarmen, deine Huld und Wahrheit mögen mich immer behüten!
13 For evils without number have surrounded me; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I was not able to see. They are multiplied above the hairs of my head : and my heart hath forsaken me.	13 Denn Leiden ohne Zahl umfangen mich, meine Sünden holen mich ein, ich vermag nicht mehr aufzusehn. Zahlreicher sind sie als die Haare auf meinem Kopf, der Mut hat mich ganz verlassen.
14 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me, look down, O Lord, to help me.	14 Gewähre mir die Gunst, Herr, und reiß mich heraus; Herr, eile mir zu Hilfe!
15 Let them be confounded and ashamed together, that seek after my soul to take it away. Let them be turned backward and be ashamed that desire evils to me.	15 In Schmach und Schande sollen alle fallen, die mir nach dem Leben trachten. Zurückweichen sollen sie und vor Scham erröten, die sich über mein Unglück freuen.
16 Let them immediately bear their confusion, that say to me : 'T is well, 't is well.	16 Vor Schande sollen alle schaudern, die zu mir sagen: «Dir geschieht recht.»
17 Let all that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee : and let such as love thy salvation say always : The Lord be magnified.	17 Alle, die dich suchen, frohlocken; sie mögen sich freuen in dir. Die dein Heil lieben, sollen immer sagen: Groß ist Gott, der Herr.
18 But I am a beggar and poor : the Lord is careful for me. Thou art my helper and my protector : O my God, be not slack.	18 Ich bin arm und gebeugt; der Herr aber sorgt für mich. Meine Hilfe und mein Retter bist du. Mein Gott, säume doch nicht!
