| 1 On me donna ensuite un roseau semblable à une verge (long comme une perche), et il me fut dit : Lève-toi, et mesure le temple de Dieu, et l'autel, et ceux qui y adorent. | 1 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told: "Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, |
| 2 Quant au parvis, qui est au dehors du temple, laisse-le, et ne le mesure pas, car il a été abandonné aux gentils ; et ils fouleront la ville sainte pendant quarante-deux mois. | 2 but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months. |
| 3 Et je donnerai à mes deux témoins la mission de prophétiser pendant mille deux cent soixante jours, vêtus de sacs. | 3 And I will grant my two witnesses power to prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." |
| 4 Ce sont les deux oliviers et les deux chandeliers qui se tiennent devant le Seigneur de la terre. | 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth. |
| 5 Et si quelqu'un veut leur faire du mal, un feu sortira de leur bouche et dévorera leurs ennemis ; si quelqu'un veut leur faire du mal (les offenser), il faut qu'il périsse ainsi. | 5 And if any one would harm them, fire pours out from their mouth and consumes their foes; if any one would harm them, thus he is doomed to be killed. |
| 6 Ils ont le pouvoir de fermer le ciel, afin qu'il ne pleuve pas durant les jours où ils prophétiseront ; et ils ont le pouvoir, à l'égard des eaux, de les changer en sang, et de frapper la terre de toute sorte de plaies, toutes les fois qu'ils le voudront. | 6 They have power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire. |
| 7 Et quand ils auront achevé de rendre leur témoignage, la bête qui monte de l'abîme leur fera la guerre, les vaincra et les tuera ; | 7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them and conquer them and kill them, |
| 8 et leurs cadavres resteront sur les places de la grande cité, qui est appelée spirituellement Sodome et Egypte, où leur Seigneur aussi (même) a été crucifié. | 8 and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. |
| 9 Et ceux des tribus, et des peuples, et des langues, et des nations verront leurs cadavres durant trois jours et demi, et ils ne permettront pas que leurs cadavres soient mis dans des tombeaux. | 9 For three days and a half men from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, |
| 10 Et les habitants de la terre seront dans la joie à leur sujet, et ils se livreront à l'allégresse (feront des fêtes), et ils s'enverront des présents les uns aux autres, parce que ces deux prophètes auront tourmenté les habitants de la terre. | 10 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. |
| 11 Mais, après trois jours et demi, un esprit de vie venu de Dieu entra en eux ; ils se levèrent sur leurs pieds, et une grande crainte saisit ceux qui les virent. | 11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. |
| 12 Et ils entendirent une voix forte venant du ciel, qui leur disait : Montez ici. Et ils montèrent au ciel dans la (une) nuée, à la vue de leurs ennemis. | 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up hither!" And in the sight of their foes they went up to heaven in a cloud. |
| 13 A cette même heure il se fit un grand tremblement de terre ; et la dixième partie de la ville tomba, et sept mille hommes furent tués dans ce tremblement de terre ; et les autres furent saisis de frayeur, et rendirent gloire au Dieu du ciel. | 13 And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. |
| 14 Le second malheur est passé, et voici, le troisième malheur viendra bientôt. | 14 The second woe has passed; behold, the third woe is soon to come. |
| 15 Le septième ange sonna de la trompette, et des voix fortes se firent entendre dans le ciel ; elles disaient : L'empire de ce monde a été remis à Notre Seigneur et à son Christ, et il règnera dans les siècles des siècles. Amen. | 15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever." |
| 16 Et les vingt-quatre vieillards, qui sont assis devant Dieu sur leurs trônes, se prosternèrent sur leurs visages et adorèrent Dieu, en disant : | 16 And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, |
| 17 Nous vous rendons grâces, Seigneur, Dieu tout-puissant, qui êtes, et qui étiez, et qui devez venir, de ce que vous avez pris possession de votre grande puissance et de votre royauté. | 17 saying, "We give thanks to thee, Lord God Almighty, who art and who wast, that thou hast taken thy great power and begun to reign. |
| 18 Les nations se sont irritées, et votre colère est venue, et le moment de juger les morts et de donner leur récompense à vos serviteurs les prophètes, et aux saints, et à ceux qui craignent votre nom, aux petits et aux grands, et d'exterminer ceux qui ont corrompu la terre. | 18 The nations raged, but thy wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, for rewarding thy servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear thy name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth." |
| 19 Alors le temple de Dieu s'ouvrit dans le ciel, et l'arche de son alliance fut vue dans son temple ; et il se fit des éclairs, et des voix, et un tremblement de terre, et une forte grêle. | 19 Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail. |
