| 1 Lorsqu'ils approchèrent de Jérusalem, et qu'ils furent arrivés à Bethphagé, près de la montagne des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de Ses disciples, | 1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, |
| 2 en leur disant : Allez au village qui est devant vous, et aussitôt vous trouverez une ânesse liée, et son ânon avec elle ; déliez-la (les) et amenez-la (les) Moi, | 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. |
| 3 et si quelqu'un vous dit quelque chose, dites que le Seigneur en a besoin, et aussitôt il les laissera emmener. | 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. |
| 4 Or tout cela s'est fait, afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été dit par le prophète : | 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, |
| 5 Dites à la fille de Sion : voici que ton Roi vient à toi plein de douceur, monté sur une ânesse et sur l'ânon de celle qui porte le joug. | 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. |
| 6 Les disciples allèrent et firent ce que Jésus leur avait ordonné. | 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, |
| 7 Ils amenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon, mirent sur eux leurs vêtements et Le firent asseoir dessus. | 7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. |
| 8 Or, une foule nombreuse étendit leurs vêtements sur le chemin ; d'autres coupaient des branches d'arbres, et en jonchaient le chemin. | 8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. |
| 9 Et les foules qui précédaient Jésus, et celles qui Le suivaient, criaient : Hosanna au fils de David ! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur ! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux ! | 9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. |
| 10 Et lorsqu'Il fut entré dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut émue, et disait : Quel est Celui-ci ? | 10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? |
| 11 Et le peuple disait : C'est Jésus, le prophète de Nazareth en Galilée. | 11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. |
| 12 Jésus entra dans le temple de Dieu, et Il chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple, et Il renversa les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient des colombes. | 12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, |
| 13 Et Il leur dit : Il est écrit : Ma maison sera appelée une maison de prière ; mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs. | 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. |
| 14 Alors des aveugles et des boiteux s'approchèrent de Lui dans le temple, et Il les guérit. | 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. |
| 15 Mais les princes des prêtres et les scribes, voyant les merveilles qu'Il avait faites, et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple, et qui disaient : Hosanna au Fils de David ! s'indignèrent, | 15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased, |
| 16 et ils Lui dirent : Entendez-vous ce qu'ils disent ? Jésus leur dit : Oui. N'avez-vous jamais lu cette parole : De la bouche des enfants, et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle, Vous avez tiré une louange parfaite ? | 16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? |
| 17 Et les ayant laissés, Il S'en alla hors de la ville, à Béthanie, où Il demeura. | 17 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. |
| 18 Le matin, en revenant à la ville, Il eut faim. | 18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. |
| 19 Et voyant un figuier près du chemin, Il S'en approcha ; mais Il n'y trouva que des feuilles. Et Il lui dit : Qu'à jamais il ne naisse de toi aucun fruit. Et aussitôt le figuier se déssécha. | 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. |
| 20 Voyant cela, les disciples s'étonnèrent, et dirent : Comment s'est-il desséché en un instant ? | 20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! |
| 21 Jésus leur répondit : En vérité, Je vous le dis, si vous avez la foi et que vous n'hésitiez point, non seulement vous feriez ce que J'ai fait à ce figuier, mais quand même vous diriez à cette montagne : Ote-toi de là et jette-toi dans la mer, cela se ferait. | 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. |
| 22 Et quoi que ce soit que vous demandiez avec foi dans la prière, vous le recevrez. | 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. |
| 23 Lorsqu'Il fut arrivé dans le temple, les princes des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s'approchèrent de Lui pendant qu'Il enseignait, et Lui dirent : Par quelle autorité faites-Vous ces choses ? et qui Vous a donné ce pouvoir ? | 23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? |
| 24 Jésus leur répondit : Je vous adresserai Moi aussi, une question ; si vous M'y répondez, Je vous dirai, Moi aussi, par quelle autorité Je fais ces choses. | 24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. |
| 25 Le baptême de Jean, d'où était-il ? du Ciel ou des hommes ? Mais ils raisonnaient entre eux, et disaient : | 25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? |
| 26 Si nous répondons : Du Ciel, Il nous dira : Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui ? Et si nous répondons : Des hommes, nous avons à craindre la foule ; car tous regardaient Jean comme un prophète. | 26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. |
| 27 Ils répondirent donc à Jésus : Nous ne savons. Et Il leur répondit, lui aussi : Je ne vous dirai pas non plus par quelle autorité Je fais ces choses. | 27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
| 28 Que vous en semble ? Un homme avait deux fils ; et s'approchant du premier, il lui dit : Mon fils, va aujourd'hui travailler à ma vigne. | 28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. |
| 29 Celui-ci répondit : Je ne veux pas. Mais ensuite, touché de repentir, il y alla. | 29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. |
| 30 S'approchant ensuite de l'autre, il lui dit la même chose. Celui-ci répondit : J'y vais, Seigneur. Et il n'y alla point. | 30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. |
| 31 Lequel des deux a fait la volonté de son père ? Ils lui dirent : Le premier. Jésus leur dit : En vérité, Je vous le dis, les publicains et les prostituées vous devanceront dans le royaume de Dieu. | 31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. |
| 32 Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice, et vous n'avez pas cru en lui. Mais les publicains et les prostituées ont cru en lui ; et vous, voyant cela, vous ne vous êtes pas repentis ensuite, pour croire en lui. | 32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. |
| 33 Ecoutez une autre parabole. Il y avait un père de famille, qui planta une vigne, l'entoura d'une haie, y creusa un pressoir, et y bâtit une tour ; puis il la loua à des vignerons, et partit pour un pays lointain. | 33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: |
| 34 Or, lorsque le temps des fruits approcha, il envoya ses serviteurs aux vignerons, pour recueillir les fruits de sa vigne. | 34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. |
| 35 Mais les vignerons, s'étant saisis de ses serviteurs, battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre, et en lapidèrent un autre. | 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. |
| 36 Il leur envoya encore d'autres serviteurs, en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même. | 36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. |
| 37 Enfin il leur envoya son fils, en disant : Ils auront du respect pour mon fils. | 37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. |
| 38 Mais les vignerons, voyant le fils, dirent entre eux : Voici l'héritier ; venez, tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage. | 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. |
| 39 Et s'étant saisis de lui, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne, et le tuèrent. | 39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. |
| 40 Lors donc que le maître de la vigne sera venu, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons ? | 40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? |
| 41 Ils lui dirent : Il fera périr misérablement ces misérables, et il louera sa vigne à d'autres vignerons, qui en rendront les fruits en leur temps. | 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. |
| 42 Jésus leur dit : N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les Ecritures : La pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient, celle-là même est devenue la tête de l'angle ; c'est le Seigneur qui a fait cela, et c'est une chose admirable à nos yeux ? | 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? |
| 43 C'est pourquoi, Je vous dis que le royaume de Dieu vous sera enlevé, et qu'il sera donné à une nation qui en produira les fruits. | 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. |
| 44 Et celui qui tombera sur cette pierre, s'y brisera, et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l'écrasera. | 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. |
| 45 Lorsque les princes des prêtres et les pharisiens eurent entendu ces paraboles, ils comprirent que Jésus parlait d'eux. | 45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. |
| 46 Et, cherchant à se saisir de Lui, ils craignirent les foules, parce qu'elles Le regardaient comme un prophète. | 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. |
