| 1 Car voici, il viendra un jour embrasé comme une fournaise ; tous les superbes et tous ceux qui commettent l'impiété seront de la paille, et ce jour qui vient les embrasera, dit le Seigneur des armées ; il ne leur laissera ni germe ni racine. | 1 For, behold, the day will arrive, kindled like a furnace, and all the arrogant and all those who act impiously will be stubble. And the approaching day will inflame them, says the Lord of hosts; it will leave behind for them neither root, nor sprout. |
| 2 Et le (un) soleil de justice se lèvera pour vous qui avez craint mon nom, et le salut (la guérison) sera sous ses ailes ; vous sortirez alors, et vous bondirez comme les veaux d'un troupeau. | 2 But unto you, who fear my name, the Sun of justice will arise, and health will be in his wings. And you will go forth and leap like the calves of the herd. |
| 3 Et vous foulerez (aux pieds) les impies, lorsqu'ils seront comme de la cendre sous la plante de vos pieds, en ce jour où j'agirai, dit le Seigneur des armées. | 3 And you will trample the impious, while they will be ashes under the sole of your foot, on the day that I act, says the Lord of hosts. |
| 4 Souvenez-vous de la loi de Moïse, mon serviteur, que je lui ai donnée sur l'Horeb, pour tout Israël, avec mes préceptes et mes ordonnances. | 4 Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him on Horeb for all Israel, the precepts and the judgments. |
| 5 Voici, je vous enverrai Elie, le prophète, avant que vienne le grand et l'épouvantable (terrible) jour du Seigneur. | 5 Behold, I will send to you Elijah the prophet, before the arrival of the great and terrible day of the Lord. |
| 6 Et il ramènera le cœur des pères à leur fils, et le cœur des fils à leurs pères, de peur que je ne vienne et ne frappe le pays d'anathème. | 6 And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with anathema. |
