| 1 L'arche de Dieu fut donc apportée, et placée au milieu du tabernacle que David lui avait fait dresser, et l'on offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'action de grâces en présence de Dieu. | 1 So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent, which David had pitched for it : and they offered holocausts, and peace offerings before God. |
| 2 Et lorsque David eut achevé d'offrir des holocaustes et les sacrifices d'action de grâces (pacifiques), il bénit le peuple au nom du Seigneur. | 2 And when David had made an end of offering holocausts, and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord. |
| 3 Et il distribua à chacun en particulier, tant aux hommes qu'aux femmes, un (une miche de) pain et un morceau de bœuf (viande de bubale) rôti(e), avec de la (fleur de) farine frite à l'huile. | 3 And he divided to all and every one, both men and women, a loaf of bread, and a piece of roasted beef, and flour fried with oil. |
| 4 Et il établit devant l'arche du Seigneur des Lévites pour faire le service, pour célébrer les (rappeler le souvenir des)œuvres divines, glorifier et louer le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël. | 4 And he appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to remember his works, and to glorify, and praise the Lord God of Israel. |
| 5 Asaph était le chef, Zacharie le second ; et ensuite Jahiel, Sémiramoth, Jéhiel, Mathathias, Eliab, Banaïas et Obédédom. Jéhiel fut chargé des psaltérions et des lyres ; Asaph, de jouer des cymbales ; | 5 Asaph the chief, and next after him Zacharias: moreover Jahiel, and Semiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mathathias, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Obededom: and Jehiel over the instruments of psaltery, and harps: and Asaph sounded with cymbals: |
| 6 les prêtres Banaïas et Jaziel, de sonner continuellement de la trompette devant l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur. | 6 But Banaias, and Jaziel the priests, to sound the trumpet continually before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. |
| 7 En ce jour David établit Asaph premier chantre, et ses frères, sous lui, pour chanter les louanges du Seigneur en disant : | 7 In that day David made Asaph the chief to give praise to the Lord with his brethren. |
| 8 Louez (Glorifiez) le Seigneur, et invoquez son nom ; publiez ses œuvres parmi les peuples. | 8 Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make known his doings among the nations. |
| 9 Chantez-lui et jouez-lui des instruments (du psaltérion en son honneur) ; annoncez toutes ses merveilles. | 9 Sing to him, yea, sing praises to him: and relate all his wondrous works. |
| 10 Louez son saint nom ; que le cœur de ceux qui cherchent le Seigneur soit dans la joie. | 10 Praise ye his holy name: let the heart I of them rejoice, that seek the Lord. |
| 11 Cherchez le Seigneur et sa force ; cherchez continuellement sa face. | 11 Seek ye the Lord, and his power: seek ye his face evermore. |
| 12 Souvenez-vous des merveilles qu'il a faites, de ses prodiges, et des jugements de sa bouche, | 12 Remember his wonderful works, which he hath done: his signs, and the judgments of his mouth. |
| 13 race (postérité) d'Israël son serviteur, enfants de Jacob son élu. | 13 O ye seed of Israel his servants, ye children of Jacob his chosen. |
| 14 Il est le Seigneur notre Dieu ; il exerce ses jugements dans toute la terre. | 14 He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth. |
| 15 Souvenez-vous à jamais de son alliance, et de la loi qu'il a prescrite pour mille générations ; | 15 Remember for ever his covenant: the word, which he commanded to a thousand generations. |
| 16 de l'accord qu'il a fait avec Abraham, et de son serment à Isaac. | 16 The covenant which he made with Abraham: and his oath to Isaac. |
| 17 Il l'a confirmé à Jacob comme une loi inviolable (Il a fait de ce serment un précepte pour Jacob), et à Israël comme une alliance éternelle, | 17 And he appointed the same to Jacob for a precept: and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: |
| 18 en disant : Je te donnerai la terre de Chanaan pour (corde de) votre héritage ; | 18 Saying: To thee will I give the land of Chanaan: the lot of your inheritance. |
| 19 et ils n'étaient alors qu'un petit nombre, peu considérables, et étrangers dans le pays. | 19 When they were but a small number: very few and sojourners in it. |
| 20 Et ils passèrent d'une nation à l'autre, et d'un royaume à un autre peuple. | 20 And they passed from nation to nation: and from a kingdom to another people. |
| 21 Il ne permit à personne de les insulter ; mais il châtia même des rois à cause d'eux : | 21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: and reproved kings for their sake. |
| 22 Ne touchez pas à mes oints, et ne faites point de mal à mes prophètes. | 22 Touch not my anointed: and do no evil to my prophets. |
| 23 Chantez au Seigneur, toute la terre ; annoncez tous les jours son salut. | 23 Sing ye to the Lord, all the earth: shew forth from day to day his salvation. |
| 24 Publiez sa gloire parmi les nations, et ses merveilles parmi tous les peuples. | 24 Declare his glory among the Gentiles: his wonders among all people. |
| 25 Car le Seigneur est grand, et digne de louanges infinies ; il est plus redoutable que tous les dieux. | 25 For the Lord is great and exceedingly to be praised: and he is to be feared above all gods. |
| 26 Car tous les dieux des peuples sont des idoles ; mais le Seigneur a fait les cieux. | 26 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. |
| 27 La gloire et la majesté sont devant lui ; la force et la joie dans sa demeure. | 27 Praise and magnificence are before him: strength and joy in his place. |
| 28 Offrez au Seigneur, familles des peuples, offrez au Seigneur la gloire et la puissance. | 28 Bring ye to the Lord, O ye families of the nations: bring ye to the Lord glory and empire. |
| 29 Donnez au Seigneur la gloire due à son nom ; apportez des offrandes, et présentez-vous devant lui ; adorez le Seigneur dans un saint respect (parure). | 29 Give to the Lord glory to his name, bring up sacrifice, and come ye in his sight: and adore the Lord in holy becomingness. |
| 30 Que toute la terre tremble devant sa face ; car c'est lui qui l'a affermie sur ses fondements. | 30 Let all the earth be moved at his presence : for he hath founded the world immoveable. |
| 31 Que les cieux se réjouissent et que la terre tressaille de joie, et que l'on dise parmi les nations : Le Seigneur est roi (règne). | 31 Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth be glad: and let them say among the nations: The Lord hath reigned. |
| 32 Que la mer retentisse avec tout ce qu'elle renferme ; que les campagnes et tout ce qu'elles contiennent soient dans la joie. | 32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all things that are in them. |
| 33 (Alors) Les arbres des forêts chanteront alors en présence du Seigneur, parce qu'il est venu pour juger la terre. | 33 Then shall the trees of the wood give praise before the Lord: because he is come to judge the earth. |
| 34 Rendez gloire au Seigneur, parce qu'il est bon, parce que sa miséricorde est éternelle. | 34 Give ye glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. |
| 35 Et dites-lui : Sauvez-nous, ô Dieu notre Sauveur ; rassemblez-nous, et retirez-nous du milieu des nations, afin que nous rendions gloire à votre saint nom, et que nous témoignions notre joie par des cantiques. | 35 And say ye: Save us, O God our saviour: and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations, that we may give glory to thy holy name, and may rejoice in singing thy praises. |
| 36 Que le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël soit béni dans la suite de tous les siècles ; et que tout le peuple dise : Amen, et louange (un hymne) au Seigneur. | 36 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity: and let all the people say Amen, and a hymn to God. |
| 37 David laissa donc en ce lieu, devant l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur, Asaph et ses frères, afin qu'ils servissent continuellement en présence de l'arche, tous les jours, chacun à leur tour. | 37 So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, Asaph and his brethren to minister in the presence of the ark continually day by day, and in their courses. |
| 38 Il établit Obédédom et ses frères, au nombre de soixante-huit, Obédédom, fils d'Idithun, et Hosa comme portiers. | 38 And Obededom, with his brethren sixty-eight: and Obededom the son of Idithun, and Hosa he appointed to be porters. |
| 39 Il établit aussi le grand prêtre Sadoc et les prêtres, ses frères, devant le tabernacle du Seigneur, sur le haut lieu (élevé) qui était à Gabaon ; | 39 And Sadoc the priest, and his brethren priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place, which was in Gabaon. |
| 40 pour qu'ils offrissent continuellement des holocaustes au Seigneur sur l'autel des holocaustes, matin et soir, suivant tout ce qui est ordonné dans la loi que le Seigneur a prescrite à Israël. | 40 That they should offer holocausts to the Lord upon the altar of holocausts continually, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel. |
| 41 Auprès de Sadoc étaient Héman et Idithun, et les autres qui avaient été choisis, chacun par son nom, pour chanter les louanges (glorifier) du Seigneur, en disant : Que sa miséricorde est éternelle. | 41 And after him Heman, and Idithun, and the rest that were chosen, every one by his name to give praise to the Lord: because his mercy endureth for ever. |
| 42 Héman et Idithun jouaient aussi de la trompette, touchaient les cymbales, et tous les (autres) instruments de musique, pour chanter les louanges de Dieu. Quant aux fils d'Idithun, le roi les établit portiers. | 42 And Heman and Idithun sounded the trumpet, and played on the cymbals, and all kinds of musical instruments to sing praises to God: and the sons of Idithun he made porters. |
| 43 Tout le peuple s'en retourna chacun dans sa maison, et David alla bénir sa maison. | 43 And all the people returned to their houses: and David to bless also his own house. |
