| 2 Il avait vingt ans lorsqu'il commença à régner, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem ; il ne fit pas ce qui était agréable au Seigneur son Dieu, comme David son père. | 2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father. |
| 3 Mais il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, et consacra même son fils, le faisant passer par le feu, suivant la superstition (le culte des) des idoles des nations que le Seigneur avait détruites à l'entrée des fils d'Israël. | 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel. |
| 4 Il immolait aussi des victimes et offrait de l'encens sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines, et sous tous les arbres touffus. | 4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. |
| 5 Alors Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélie, roi d'Israël, vinrent mettre le siège devant Jérusalem ; et quoiqu'ils tinssent Achaz assiégé, ils ne purent triompher de lui. | 5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him. |
| 6 En ce même temps, Rasin, roi de Syrie, reconquit Elam (Aila) pour les Syriens, et en chassa les Juifs ; et les Iduméens vinrent à Elam (Aila), et y habitèrent, comme ils font encore aujourd'hui. | 6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day. |
| 7 Alors Achaz envoya des ambassadeurs à Théglath-Phalasar, roi des Assyriens, pour lui dire : Je suis votre serviteur et votre fils ; venez me sauver des mains du roi de Syrie, et des mains du roi d'Israël, qui se sont ligués contre moi. | 7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me. |
| 8 Et ayant amassé l'argent et l'or qui se put trouver dans la maison du Seigneur et dans les trésors du roi, il en fit des présents au roi des Assyriens. | 8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria. |
| 9 Le roi des Assyriens se rendit à ses désirs, vint à Damas, ruina la ville, en transféra les habitants à Cyrène, et tua Rasin. | 9 And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin. |
| 10 Alors le roi Achaz alla à Damas au-devant de Théglath-Phalasar, roi des Assyriens, et ayant vu un autel qui était à Damas, il en envoya au (grand) prêtre Urie un modèle où cet autel était représenté selon sa forme exacte. | 10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof. |
| 11 Et le (grand) prêtre Urie fit construire un autel tout semblable à celui de Damas, selon l'ordre qu'il en avait reçu du roi Achaz, en attendant que ce roi fût revenu de Damas. | 11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus. |
| 12 Lorsque le roi Achaz fut revenu de Damas, il vit l'autel, et il le révéra, et il vint y immoler des holocaustes et son sacrifice. | 12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon. |
| 13 Il y versa des libations, et y répandit le sang des hosties pacifiques qu'il avait offertes sur l'autel. | 13 and he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar. |
| 14 Il transféra l'autel d'airain, qui était devant le Seigneur, de devant la face du temple, du lieu de l'autel et du temple du Seigneur, et il le mit à côté de l'autel vers le nord. | 14 And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar. |
| 15 Le roi d'Achaz donna aussi cet ordre au (grand) prêtre Urie : Tu offriras (Offre) sur le grand autel l'holocauste du matin et le sacrifice du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son sacrifice, l'holocauste de tout le peuple, leurs sacrifices et leurs libations, et tu répandras sur cet autel tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des victimes ; quant à l'autel d'airain, j'en ordonnerai à ma volonté (il sera préparé selon ma volonté). | 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to inquire by. |
| 16 Le (grand) prêtre Urie exécuta donc en toutes choses les ordres que le roi Achaz lui avait donnés. | 16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded. |
| 17 Le roi Achaz enleva aussi les bases ciselées, et le bassin qui était dessus. Et il ôta la mer de dessus les bœufs d'airain qui la portaient, et il la mit sur le pavé, qui était de pierre. | 17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones. |
| 18 Il changea aussi dans le temple du Seigneur, à cause du roi des Assyriens, la galerie (le Musach, note) du sabbat, qu'il avait bâti(e) dans le temple, et l'entrée extérieure du roi. | 18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria. |
| 19 Le reste des actions d'Achaz est écrit au livre des annales (actions des jours) des rois de Juda. | 19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
| 20 Achaz s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux dans la ville (cité) de David, et Ezéchias, son fils, régna à sa place. | 20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead. |
