| 1 Six jours après, Jésus prit avec Lui Pierre, Jacques, et Jean son frère, et les conduisit à l'écart sur une haute montagne. | 1 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a highmountain by themselves. |
| 2 Et Il fut transfiguré devant eux: Son visage resplendit comme le soleil, et Ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la neige. | 2 There in their presence he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became asdazzling as light. |
| 3 Et voici que Moïse et Elie leur apparurent, s'entretenant avec Lui. | 3 And suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him. |
| 4 Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Seigneur, il nous est bon d'être ici; si Vous le voulez, faisons-y trois tentes, une pour Vous, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie. | 4 Then Peter spoke to Jesus. 'Lord,' he said, 'it is wonderful for us to be here; if you want me to, I willmake three shelters here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.' |
| 5 Comme il parlait encore, voici qu'une nuée lumineuse les couvrit; et voici qu'une voix sortit de la nuée, disant: Celui-ci est Mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui J'ai mis toutes Mes complaisances; écoutez-Le. | 5 He was stil speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from thecloud there came a voice which said, 'This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.' |
| 6 Les disciples, l'entendant, tombèrent le visage contre terre, et furent saisis d'une grande crainte. | 6 When they heard this, the disciples fel on their faces, overcome with fear. |
| 7 Mais Jésus, S'approchant, les toucha, et leur dit: Levez-vous, et ne craignez point. | 7 But Jesus came up and touched them, saying, 'Stand up, do not be afraid.' |
| 8 Alors, levant les yeux, ils ne virent plus que Jésus seul. | 8 And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but Jesus. |
| 9 Lorsqu'ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur donna cette ordre: Ne parlez à personne de ce que vous avez vu, jusqu'à ce que le Fils de l'homme soit ressuscité d'entre les morts. | 9 As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order, 'Tel no one about this vision untilthe Son of man has risen from the dead.' |
| 10 Ses disciples L'interrogèrent alors, en disant: Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne auparavant? | 10 And the disciples put this question to him, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?' |
| 11 Mais Jésus leur répondit: Il est vrai qu'Elie doit venir, et qu'il rétablira toutes choses. | 11 He replied, 'Elijah is indeed coming, and he wil set everything right again; |
| 12 Mais Je vous dis qu'Elie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont point connu, mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu. C'est ainsi que le Fils de l'homme doit souffrir par eux. | 12 however, I tel you that Elijah has come already and they did not recognise him but treated him asthey pleased; and the Son of man wil suffer similarly at their hands.' |
| 13 Alors les disciples comprirent que c'était de Jean-Baptiste qu'Il leur avait parlé. | 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking of John the Baptist. |
| 14 Lorsqu'Il fut venu vers la foule, un homme s'approcha de Lui, et se mit à genoux devant Lui, et Lui dit: Seigneur, ayez pitié de mon fils, qui est lunatique, et qui souffre beaucoup; car il tombe souvent dans le feu, et souvent dans l'eau. | 14 As they were rejoining the crowd a man came up to him and went down on his knees before him. |
| 15 Je l'ai présenté à Vos disciples, et ils n'ont pu le guérir. | 15 'Lord,' he said, 'take pity on my son: he is demented and in a wretched state; he is always fal ing intofire and into water. |
| 16 Jésus répondit: O génération incrédule et perverse, jusques à quand serai-Je avec vous? jusques à quand vous souffrirai-Je? Amenez-le-Moi ici. | 16 I took him to your disciples and they were unable to cure him.' |
| 17 Et Jésus le menaça, et le démon sortit de l'enfant, qui fut guéri à l'heure même. | 17 In reply, Jesus said, 'Faithless and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you? Howmuch longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.' |
| 18 Alors les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus en particulier, et Lui dirent: Pourquoi n'avons-nous pas pu le chasser? | 18 And when Jesus rebuked it the devil came out of the boy, who was cured from that moment. |
| 19 Jésus leur dit: A cause de votre incrédulité. Car en vérité, Je vous le dis, si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous diriez à cette montagne: Transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle s'y transporterait; et rien ne vous serait impossible. | 19 Then the disciples came privately to Jesus. 'Why were we unable to drive it out?' they asked. |
| 20 Mais cette sorte de démon ne se chasse que par la prière et le jeûne. | 20 He answered, 'Because you have so little faith. In truth I tel you, if your faith is the size of a mustardseed you wil say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it wil move; nothing will be impossible foryou.' |
| 21 Pendant qu'il se trouvait en Galilée, Jésus leur dit: Le Fils de l'homme doit être livré entre les mains des hommes, | 21 |
| 22 et ils Le feront mourir, et le troisième jour Il ressuscitera. Et ils furent vivement attristés. | 22 When they were together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of man is going to be delivered intothe power of men; |
| 23 Lorsqu'ils furent venus à Capharnaüm, ceux qui recevaient les didrachmes s'approchèrent de Pierre, et lui dirent: Votre maître ne paye-t-Il pas le tribut? | 23 they will put him to death, and on the third day he wil be raised up again.' And a great sadness cameover them. |
| 24 Il dit: Oui. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, en disant: Que t'en semble, Simon? De qui les rois de la terre reçoivent-ils le tribut ou le cens? de leurs fils, ou des étrangers? | 24 When they reached Capernaum, the col ectors of the half-shekel came to Peter and said, 'Does yourmaster not pay the half-shekel?' |
| 25 Pierre répondit: Des étrangers. Jésus lui dit: Les fils en sont donc exempts. | 25 'Yes,' he replied, and went into the house. But before he could speak, Jesus said, 'Simon, what isyour opinion? From whom do earthly kings take tol or tribute? From their sons or from foreigners?' |
| 26 Mais, pour que nous ne les scandalisions point, va à la mer, et jette l'hameçon, et tire le premier poisson qui montera, et en lui ouvrant la bouche tu trouveras un statère; prends-le, et donne-le-leur pour Moi et pour toi. | 26 And when he replied, 'From foreigners,' Jesus said, 'Well then, the sons are exempt. |
| 27 However, so that we shal not be the downfal of others, go to the lake and cast a hook; take the firstfish that rises, open its mouth and there you wil find a shekel; take it and give it to them for me and for yourself.' |
