| 3 Parle à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, chef de Juda, à Jésus, fils de Josédec, grand prêtre, et aux restes du peuple, et dis-leur: | 3 "Is there anyone left among you who saw this Temple in its former glory? And how does it look to younow? Does it not seem as though there is nothing there? |

| 12 Ainsi parle le Seigneur des armées: Propose aux prêtres cette question sur la loi: | 12 If someone is carrying consecrated meat in the fold of his gown and al ows the fold to touch bread,broth, wine, oil or food of any kind, wil that become holy?" ' The priests replied, 'No.' |
| 13 Si un homme met un morceau de chair sanctifiée dans le coin de son vêtement, et qu'il touche avec l'extrémité du vêtement du pain, ou des mets, ou du vin, ou de l'huile, ou tout autre aliment, ces choses seront-elles sanctifiées? Les prêtres répondirent: Non. | 13 Haggai then said, 'If anyone rendered unclean by contact with a corpse touches any of these things,wil that become unclean?' 'It is the same with this people,' he said, 'the same with this nation, in my view-- Yahweh declares -- the same with everything they turn their hands to; and whatever they offer here is unclean. |

| 16 Et maintenant appliquez vos coeurs à ce qui s'est passé jusqu'à ce jour, avant qu'on eût mis pierre sur pierre au temple du Seigneur. | 16 what state were you in? You would come to a twenty-measure heap and find only ten; you wouldcome to a vat to draw fifty measures and find only twenty. |

| 19 Appliquez vos coeurs à ce qui se fera depuis ce jour et à l'avenir, depuis le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, depuis le jour où les fondements du temple ont été jetés; appliquez-y votre coeur. | 19 if seed-corn is stil short in the barn, and if vine and fig tree, pomegranate and olive tree still bear nofruit. | 21 La parole du Seigneur fut adressée pour la seconde fois à Aggée, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en ces termes: | 21 'Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah. Say this, "I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. |
| 22 Parle à Zorobabel, chef de Juda, et dis-lui: J'ébranlerai ensemble le ciel et la terre. | 22 I shal overturn the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kings of the nations. I shalloverthrow the chariots and their crews; horses and their riders wil fall, every one to the sword of his comrade. |
| 23 Je renverserai le trône des royaumes, Je briserai la force du règne des nations, Je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; les chevaux s'abattront, ainsi que leurs cavaliers; chacun sera percé par l'épée de son frère. | 23 When that day comes -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- I shal take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel myservant -- Yahweh declares -- and make you like a signet ring.
