| 1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit: | 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: |
| 2 Faites-vous deux trompettes d'argent, battues au marteau, afin que vous puissiez vous en servir pour assembler tout le peuple lorsqu'il faudra lever le camp. | 2 Make thee two trumpets of beaten silver, wherewith thou mayest call together the multitude when the camp is to be removed. |
| 3 Et quand vous aurez sonné de ces trompettes, tout le peuple s'assemblera près de vous, à l'entrée du tabernacle de l'alliance. | 3 And when thou shalt sound the trumpets, all the multitude shall gather unto thee to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant. |
| 4 Si vous ne sonnez qu'une fois, les princes et les chefs du peuple d'Israël viendront auprès de vous. | 4 If thou sound but once, the princes and the heads of the multitude of Israel shall come to thee. |
| 5 Mais si vous sonnez plus longtemps de la trompette, et d'un son plus serré et entrecoupé, ceux qui sont du côté de l'orient décamperont les premiers. | 5 But if the sound of the trumpets be longer, and with interruptions, they that are on the east side, shall first go forward. |
| 6 Au second son de la trompette, avec un bruit semblable au premier, ceux qui sont vers le midi détendront leurs tentes; et les autres feront de même au bruit des trompettes qui sonneront le levée du camp. | 6 And at the second sounding and like noise of the trumpet, they who lie on the south side shall take up their tents. And after this manner shall the rest do, when the trumpets shall sound for a march. |
| 7 Mais lorsqu'il faudra seulement assembler le peuple, les trompettes sonneront d'un son plus uni, et non de ce son entrecoupé et serré. | 7 But when the people is to be gathered together, the sound of the trumpets shall be plain, and they shall not make a broken sound. |
| 8 Les prêtres enfants d'Aaron sonneront des trompettes; et cette ordonnance sera toujours gardée dans toute votre postérité. | 8 And the sons of Aaron the priest shall sound the trumpets: and this shall be an ordinance for ever in your generations. |
| 9 Si vous sortez de votre pays pour aller à la guerre contre vos ennemis qui vous combattent, vous ferez un bruit éclatant avec ces trompettes, et le Seigneur votre Dieu Se souviendra de vous, pour vous délivrer des mains de vos ennemis. | 9 If you go forth to war out of your land against the enemies that fight against you, you shall sound aloud with the trumpets, and there shall be a remembrance of you before the Lord your God, that you may be delivered out of the hands of your enemies. |
| 10 Lorsque vous ferez un festin, que vous célébrerez les jours de fêtes et les premiers jours des mois, vous sonnerez des trompettes en offrant vos holocaustes et vos hosties pacifiques, afin que votre Dieu Se ressouvienne de vous. Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu. | 10 If at any time you shall have a banquet, end on your festival days, and on the first days of your months, you shall sound the trumpets over the holocausts, and the sacrifices of peace offerings, that they may be to you for a remembrance of your God. I am the Lord your God. |
| 11 Le vingtième jour du second mois de la seconde année, la nuée se leva de dessus le tabernacle de l'alliance, | 11 The second year, in the second month, the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle of the covenant. |
| 12 et les enfants d'Israël partirent du désert du Sinaï rangés selon leurs divers groupes, et la nuée se reposa dans le désert de Pharan. | 12 And the children of Israel marched by their troops from the desert of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Pharan. |
| 13 Les premiers qui décampèrent par l'ordre du Seigneur, qu'ils reçurent de Moïse, | 13 And the first went forward according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses. |
| 14 furent les enfants de Juda, selon leurs groupes, dont Nahasson, fils d'Aminadab, était le prince. | 14 The sons of Juda by their troops: whose prince was Nahasson the son of Aminadab. |
| 15 Nathanaël, fils de Suar, était le prince de la tribu des enfants d'Issachar. | 15 In the tribe of the sons of Issachar, the prince was Nathanael the son of Suar. |
| 16 Eliab, fils d'Hélon, était le prince de la tribu de Zabulon. | 16 In the tribe of Zabulon, the prince was Eliab the son of Helon. |
| 17 Le tabernacle ayant été détendu, les enfants de Gerson et de Mérari le portèrent, et se mirent en chemin. | 17 And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gerson and Merari set forward, bearing it. |
| 18 Les enfants de Ruben partirent ensuite, chacun d'après son groupe et selon son rang; Elisur, fils de Sédéur, en était le prince. | 18 And the sons of Ruben also marched, by their troops and ranks, whose prince was Helisur the son of Sedeur. |
| 19 Salamiel, fils de Surisaddaï, était le prince de la tribu des enfants de Siméon. | 19 And in the tribe of Simeon, the prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai. |
| 20 Eliasaph, fils de Duel, était le prince de la tribu de Gad. | 20 And in the tribe of Cad, the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel. |
| 21 Les Caathites, qui portaient le sanctuaire, partirent après; et on portait toujours le tabernacle jusqu'à ce qu'on fût arrivé au lieu où il devait être dressé. | 21 Then the Caathites also marched carrying the sanctuary. So long was the tabernacle carried, till they same to the place of setting it up. |
| 22 Les enfants d'Ephraïm décampèrent aussi chacun selon son groupe, et Elisama, fils d'Ammiud, était le prince de leur corps. | 22 The sons of Ephraim also moved their camp by their troops, in whose army the prince was Elisama the son of Ammiud. |
| 23 Gamaliel, fils de Phadassur, était le prince de la tribu des enfants de Manassé; | 23 And in the tribe of the sons of Manasses, the prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur. |
| 24 et Abidan, fils de Gédéon, était chef de la tribu de Benjamin. | 24 And in the tribe of Benjamin, the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon. |
| 25 Ceux qui partirent les derniers de tout le camp furent les enfants de Dan, qui marchaient chacun selon son groupe; Ahiézer, fils d'Ammisaddaï, était le prince de leur corps. | 25 The last of all the camp marched the sons of Dan by their troops, in whose army the prince was Ahiezer the son of Ammisaddai. |
| 26 Phégiel, fils d'Ochran, était le prince de la tribu des enfants d'Aser; | 26 And in the tribe of the sons of Aser, the prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran. |
| 27 et Ahira, fils d'Enan, était le prince de la tribu des enfants de Nephthali. | 27 And in the tribe of the sons of Nephtali, the prince was Ahira the son of Enan. |
| 28 C'est là l'ordre du camp, et la manière dont les enfants d'Israël devaient marcher selon leurs divers groupes lorsqu'ils décampaient. | 28 This was the order of the camps, and marches of the children of Israel by their troops, when they set forward. |
| 29 Alors Moïse dit à Hobab, fils de Raguël le Madianite, son allié: Nous allons au lieu que le Seigneur doit nous donner; venez avec nous, afin que nous vous comblions de biens; car le Seigneur en a promis de très grands à Israël. | 29 And Moses said to Hobab the son of Raguel the Madianite, his kinsman: We are going towards the place which the Lord will give us: come with us, that we may do thee good : for the Lord hath promised good things to Israel. |
| 30 Hobab lui répondit: Je n'irai point avec vous, mais je retournerai dans mon pays où je suis né. | 30 But he answered him: I will not go with thee, but I will return to my country, wherein I was born. |
| 31 Ne nous abandonnez pas, répondit Moïse, parce que vous savez en quels lieux nous devons camper dans le désert, et vous serez notre guide. | 31 And he said: Do not leave us: for thou knowest in what places we should encamp in the wilderness, and thou shalt be our guide. |
| 32 Et quand vous serez venus avec nous, nous vous donnerons ce qu'il y aura de plus excellent dans toutes les richesses que le Seigneur doit nous donner. | 32 And if thou comest with us, we will give thee what is the best of the riches which the Lord shall deliver to us. |
| 33 Ils partirent donc de la montagne du Seigneur, et marchèrent pendant trois jours. L'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur allait devant eux, marquant le lieu où ils devaient camper pendant ces trois jours. | 33 So they marched from the mount of the Lord three days' journey, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them, for three days providing a place for the camp. |
| 34 La nuée du Seigneur les couvrait aussi durant le jour lorsqu'ils marchaient. | 34 The cloud also of the Lord was over them by day when they marched. |
| 35 Et lorsqu'on élevait l'arche, Moïse disait: Levez-vous, Seigneur, et que Vos ennemis soient dissipés, et que ceux qui Vous haïssent fuient devant Votre face. | 35 And when the ark was lifted up, Moses said: Arise, O Lord, and let thy enemies be scattered, and let them that hate thee, flee from before thy face. |
| 36 Et lorsqu'on déposait l'arche, il disait: Revenez, Seigneur, à l'armée de Votre peuple Israël. | 36 And when it was set down, he said: Return, O Lord, to the multitude of the host of Israel. |
