| 1 Je regardai, et voici, dans le firmament qui était sur la tête des chérubins, apparut comme une pierre de saphir, comme une espèce de trône au-dessus d'eux. | 1 Then I looked, and behold, on the firmament that was over the heads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a sapphire, in form resembling a throne. |
| 2 Et le Seigneur dit à l'homme vêtu de lin: Va au milieu des roues qui sont sous les chérubins, et remplis ta main des charbons ardents qui sont entre les chérubins, et répands-les sur la ville. Et il y alla sous mes yeux. | 2 And he said to the man clothed in linen, "Go in among the whirling wheels underneath the cherubim; fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city." And he went in before my eyes. |
| 3 Les chérubins se tenaient à droite de la maison du Seigneur lorsque l'homme entra, et une nuée remplit le parvis intérieur. | 3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the house, when the man went in; and a cloud filled the inner court. |
| 4 La gloire du Seigneur s'éleva de dessus les chérubins, et vint vers le seuil de la maison, et la maison fut remplie de la nuée, et le parvis fut rempli de l'éclat de la gloire du Seigneur. | 4 And the glory of the LORD went up from the cherubim to the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the glory of the LORD. |
| 5 Le bruit des ailes des chérubins s'entendait jusqu'au parvis extérieur, semblable à la voix du Dieu tout-puissant lorsqu'Il parle. | 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. |
| 6 Lorsqu'Il eut donné cet ordre à l'homme vêtu de lin: Prends du feu au milieu des roues qui sont entre les chérubins, il y alla, et se tint près des roues. | 6 And when he commanded the man clothed in linen, "Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim," he went in and stood beside a wheel. |
| 7 Alors un chérubin étendit sa main du milieu des chérubins, vers le feu qui était entre les chérubins; il en prit, et le mit dans les mains de celui qui était vêtu de lin, qui s'en revint après l'avoir reçu. | 7 And a cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it, and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who took it and went out. |
| 8 Et il parut dans les chérubins comme une main d'homme, qui était sous leurs ailes. | 8 The cherubim appeared to have the form of a human hand under their wings. |
| 9 Je regardai, et voici qu'il y avait quatre roues auprès des chérubins: une roue auprès d'un chérubin, et une autre roue auprès d'un autre; l'aspect de ces roues était comme celui d'une pierre de chrysolite; | 9 And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one beside each cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like sparkling chrysolite. |
| 10 Lorsque les chérubins marchaient, les roues marchaient aussi auprès d'eux; et lorsque les chérubins étendaient leurs ailes pour s'élever de terre, les roues n'y demeuraient point, mais elles se trouvaient auprès d'eux. | 10 And as for their appearance, the four had the same likeness, as if a wheel were within a wheel. |
| 11 Et lorsqu'elles marchaient, elles s'avançaient de quatre côtés, et elles ne se retournaient pas en marchant; mais quand celle qui était la première allait dans une direction, les autres la suivaient et ne se retournaient pas. | 11 When they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went, but in whatever direction the front wheel faced the others followed without turning as they went. |
| 12 Et tout leur corps, et leur cou, et leurs mains, et leurs ailes, et leurs cercles étaient pleins d'yeux tout autour des quatre roues. | 12 And their rims, and their spokes, and the wheels were full of eyes round about--the wheels that the four of them had. |
| 13 Et ces roues, devant moi, Il les appela légères. | 13 As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing the whirling wheels. |
| 14 Chacun de ces êtres avait quatre faces: la première était celle d'un chérubin, la seconde celle d'un homme, la troisième celle d'un lion, et la quatrième celle d'un aigle. | 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. |
| 15 Et les chérubins s'élevèrent. C'étaient les mêmes êtres vivants que j'avais vus près du fleuve Chobar. | 15 And the cherubim mounted up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the river Chebar. |
| 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels did not turn from beside them. |
| 17 Quand ils s'arrêtaient elles s'arrêtaient, et quand ils s'élevaient elles s'élevaient, car l'Esprit de vie était en elles. | 17 When they stood still, these stood still, and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in them. |
| 18 La gloire du Seigneur sortit du seuil du temple, et se plaça sur les chérubins. | 18 Then the glory of the LORD went forth from the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. |
| 19 Et les chérubins, étendant leurs ailes, s'élevèrent de terre devant moi, et lorsqu'ils partirent, les roues les suivirent aussi. Et ils s'arrêtèrent à l'entrée de la porte orientale de la maison du Seigneur, et la gloire du Dieu d'Israël était sur eux. | 19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight as they went forth, with the wheels beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of the house of the LORD; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. |
| 20 C'étaient les êtres vivants que j'avais vus au-dessous du Dieu d'Israël auprès du fleuve Chobar, et je reconnus que c'étaient des chérubins. | 20 These were the living creatures that I saw underneath the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. |
| 21 Chacun avait quatre visages et chacun avaait quatre ailes, et il paraissait comme une main d'homme sous leurs ailes. | 21 Each had four faces, and each four wings, and underneath their wings the semblance of human hands. |
| 22 L'apparence de leurs faces était celle que j'avais vue auprès du fleuve Chobar, comme aussi leur regard et l'impétuosité avec laquelle chacun marchait devant soi. | 22 And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the very faces whose appearance I had seen by the river Chebar. They went every one straight forward. |
