| 2 Déclarez ceci aux enfants d'Israël: Entre tous les animaux de la terre, voici quels sont ceux dont vous mangerez: | 2 "Say to the people of Israel, These are the living things which you may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. |
| 3 De toutes les bêtes à quatre pieds, vous pourrez manger celles dont la corne du pied est fendue et qui ruminent. | 3 Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. |
| 4 Quant à celles qui ruminent, mais dont la corne du pied n'est point fendue, comme le chameau et les autres, vous n'en mangerez point, et vous les considérerez comme impures. | 4 Nevertheless among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. |
| 5 Le lapin qui rumine, mais qui n'a point la corne fendu, est impur. | 5 And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. |
| 6 Le lièvre aussi est impur, parce que, quoiqu'il rumine, il n'a point la corne fendue. | 6 And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. |
| 7 Le pourceau aussi est impur, parce que, quoiqu'il ait la corne fendue, il ne rumine point. | 7 And the swine, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. |
| 8 Vous ne mangerez point de la chair de ces bêtes, et vous ne toucherez point à leurs cadavres, parce que vous les tiendrez comme impurs. | 8 Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you. |
| 9 Voici celles des bêtes qui naissent dans les eaux dont il vous est permis de manger: Vous mangerez de tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles, tant dans la mer que dans les rivières et dans les étangs. | 9 "These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat. |
| 10 Mais tout ce qui se remue et qui vit dans les eaux sans avoir de nageoires ni d'écailles vous sera en abomination et en exécration. | 10 But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is an abomination to you. |
| 11 Vous ne mangerez point de la chair de ces animaux, et vous n'y toucherez point lorsqu'ils seront morts. | 11 They shall remain an abomination to you; of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall have in abomination. |
| 12 Tous ceux qui n'ont point de nageoires ni d'écailles dans les eaux vous seront impurs. | 12 Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is an abomination to you. |
| 13 Entre les oiseaux, voici quels sont ceux dont vous ne mangerez point, et que vous aurez soin d'éviter: l'aigle, le griffon, le faucon, | 13 "And these you shall have in abomination among the birds, they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey, |
| 14 Le milan, le vautour et tous ceux de son espèce, | 14 the kite, the falcon according to its kind, |
| 15 Le corbeau et tout ce qui est de la même espèce, | 15 every raven according to its kind, |
| 16 L'autruche, le hibou, la mouette, l'épervier et toute son espèce, | 16 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk according to its kind, |
| 17 Le chat-huant, le cormoran, l'ibis, | 17 the owl, the cormorant, the ibis, |
| 18 Le cygne, le butor, le porphyrion, | 18 the water hen, the pelican, the carrion vulture, |
| 19 Le héron, la cigogne et tout ce qui est de la même espèce, la huppe et la chauve-souris. | 19 the stork, the heron according to its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat. |
| 20 Tout ce qui vole et qui marche sur quatre pieds vous sera en abomination. | 20 "All winged insects that go upon all fours are an abomination to you. |
| 21 Mais pour tout ce qui marche sur quatre pieds, et qui, ayant les jambes de derrière plus longues, saute sur la terre, | 21 Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those which have legs above their feet, with which to leap on the earth. |
| 22 Vous pouvez en manger, comme le bruchus selon son espèce, l'attacus, l'ophiomachus et la sauterelle, chacun selon son espèce. | 22 Of them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper according to its kind. |
| 23 Tous les animaux qui volent et qui n'ont que quatre pieds vous seront en exécration. | 23 But all other winged insects which have four feet are an abomination to you. |
| 24 Quiconque y touchera lorsqu'ils seront morts en sera souillé et demeurera impur jusqu'au soir. | 24 "And by these you shall become unclean; whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening, |
| 25 S'il est nécessaire qu'il porte quelqu'un de ces animaux quand il sera mort, il lavera ses vêtements et il sera impur jusqu'au coucher du soleil. | 25 and whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. |
| 26 Tout animal qui a de la corne au pied, mais dont la corne n'est point fendue, et qui ne rumine point, sera impur; et celui qui l'aura touché après sa mort sera souillé. | 26 Every animal which parts the hoof but is not cloven-footed or does not chew the cud is unclean to you; every one who touches them shall be unclean. |
| 27 Entre tous les animaux à quatre pieds, ceux qui ont comme des mains sur lesquelles ils marchent seront impurs: celui qui y touchera lorsqu'ils seront morts sera souillé jusqu'au soir. | 27 And all that go on their paws, among the animals that go on all fours, are unclean to you; whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening, |
| 28 Celui qui portera de ces bêtes lorsqu'elles seront mortes lavera ses vêtements, et il sera impur jusqu'au soir; parce que tous ces animaux vous seront impurs. | 28 and he who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; they are unclean to you. |
| 29 Entre les animaux qui se remuent sur la terre, vous considérez encore ceux-ci comme impurs: la belette, la souris et le crocodile, chacun selon son espèce, | 29 "And these are unclean to you among the swarming things that swarm upon the earth: the weasel, the mouse, the great lizard according to its kind, |
| 30 La musaraigne, le caméléon, le stellion, le lézard et la taupe; | 30 the gecko, the land crocodile, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon. |
| 31 Tous ces animaux seront impurs. Celui qui y touchera lorsqu'ils seront morts sera impur jusqu'au soir; | 31 These are unclean to you among all that swarm; whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening. |
| 32 Et tout objet sur lequel il tombera quelque chose de leurs corps morts sera souillé, que ce soit un vase de bois, ou un vêtement, ou des peaux et des cilices, tout objet dont on fait usage; ils seront lavés dans l'eau, ils demeureront souillés jusqu'au soir, et après cela ils seront purifiés. | 32 And anything upon which any of them falls when they are dead shall be unclean, whether it is an article of wood or a garment or a skin or a sack, any vessel that is used for any purpose; it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it shall be clean. |
| 33 Mais le vase de terre dans lequel quelqu'une de ces choses sera tombée en sera souillé, c'est pourquoi il le faut briser. | 33 And if any of them falls into any earthen vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it. |
| 34 Si on répand de l'eau de ces vases souillés sur la viande dont vous mangerez, elle deviendra impure; et toute liqueur qui se peut boire sortant de quelqu'un de tous ces vases impurs sera souillée. | 34 Any food in it which may be eaten, upon which water may come, shall be unclean; and all drink which may be drunk from every such vessel shall be unclean. |
| 35 Tout objet sur lequel il tombera quelque chose de ces bêtes mortes deviendra impur; que ce soit des fourneaux ou des marmites, ils seront censés impurs et seront brisés. | 35 And everything upon which any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces; they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you. |
| 36 Mais les fontaines, les citernes et tous les réservoirs d'eaux seront purs. Celui qui touchera les cadavres de ces animaux sera impur. | 36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern holding water shall be clean; but whatever touches their carcass shall be unclean. |
| 37 S'il en tombe quelque chose sur la semence, elle ne sera point souillée. | 37 And if any part of their carcass falls upon any seed for sowing that is to be sown, it is clean; |
| 38 Mais si quelqu'un répand de l'eau sur la semence, et qu'après cela elle touche à un de ces cadavres, elle en sera aussitôt souillée. | 38 but if water is put on the seed and any part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you. |
| 39 Si un animal de ceux qu'il vous est permis de manger meurt de lui-même, celui qui en touchera le cadavre sera impur jusqu'au soir. | 39 "And if any animal of which you may eat dies, he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening, |
| 40 Celui qui en mangera, ou qui en portera quelque chose, lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu'au soir. | 40 and he who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; he also who carries the carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. |
| 41 Tout ce qui rampe sur la terre sera abominable, et on n'en prendra point pour manger. | 41 "Every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten. |
| 42 Vous ne mangerez point de tout ce qui ayant quatre pieds marche sur le ventre, ni de ce qui a plusieurs pieds ou qui se traîne sur la terre, parce que ces animaux sont abominables. | 42 Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, all the swarming things that swarm upon the earth, you shall not eat; for they are an abomination. |
| 43 Prenez garde de ne pas souiller vos âmes, et ne touchez aucune de ces choses, de peur que vous ne soyez impurs. | 43 You shall not make yourselves abominable with any swarming thing that swarms; and you shall not defile yourselves with them, lest you become unclean. |
| 44 Car Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu; soyez saints parce que Je suis saint. Ne souillez point vos âmes par l'attouchement d'aucun des reptiles qui se remuent sur la terre. | 44 For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls upon the earth. |
| 45 Car Je suis le Seigneur qui vous ai tirés du pays de l'Egypte pour être votre Dieu. Vous serez donc saints parce que Je suis saint. | 45 For I am the LORD who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; you shall therefore be holy, for I am holy." |
| 46 C'est là la loi pour les bêtes, pour les oiseaux et pour tout animal vivant qui se remue dans l'eau ou qui rampe sur la terre; | 46 This is the law pertaining to beast and bird and every living creature that moves through the waters and every creature that swarms upon the earth, |
| 47 Afin que vous connaissiez la différence de ce qui est pur ou impur, et que vous sachiez ce que vous devez manger ou rejeter. | 47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean and between the living creature that may be eaten and the living creature that may not be eaten. |
