1 Document sur les origines de Jésus Christ, fils de David et fils d’Abraham.	1 THE book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham est le père d’Isaac; Isaac, le père de Jacob; Jacob, le père de Juda et ses frères;	2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

17 Donc au total, cela fait quatorze générations d’Abraham à David, quatorze générations de David jusqu’à l’exil à Babylone et quatorze générations depuis l’exil à Babylone jusqu’au Christ.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
18 Voici quelle fut l’origine de Jésus, le Christ. Sa mère, Marie, avait été donnée en mariage à Joseph, mais avant qu’ils ne vivent ensemble, elle se trouva enceinte par une intervention de l’Esprit Saint.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit;
19 Joseph, son mari, pensa à la renvoyer. Mais c’était un homme droit et il voulait agir discrètement pour ne pas lui faire du tort.	19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly.
20 Comme il en était préoccupé, un ange du Seigneur vint se manifester à lui dans un rêve et lui dit: "Joseph, fils de David, n’aie pas peur de prendre chez toi Marie, ton épouse. La voilà enceinte par l’intervention de l’Esprit Saint;	20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit;
21 elle mettra au monde un fils et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus; car c’est lui qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés.”	21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
22 Tout cela fut donc l’accomplissement de ce que le Seigneur avait dit par la bouche du prophète:	22 All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 Voici que la vierge est enceinte et met au monde un fils. On l’appellera Emmanuel, ce qui veut dire: Dieu-avec-nous.	23 "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us).
24 Quand Joseph se réveilla, il fit ce que l’ange lui avait ordonné et il prit avec lui son épouse.	24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife,
25 Il n’avait donc pas eu de relations avec elle quand elle mit au monde un fils; il lui donna le nom de Jésus.	25 but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.
