18 Voici quelle fut l’origine de Jésus, le Christ. Sa mère, Marie, avait été donnée en mariage à Joseph, mais avant qu’ils ne vivent ensemble, elle se trouva enceinte par une intervention de l’Esprit Saint.	18 Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit.

22 Tout cela fut donc l’accomplissement de ce que le Seigneur avait dit par la bouche du prophète:	22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 Voici que la vierge est enceinte et met au monde un fils. On l’appellera Emmanuel, ce qui veut dire: Dieu-avec-nous.	23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."
24 Quand Joseph se réveilla, il fit ce que l’ange lui avait ordonné et il prit avec lui son épouse.	24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.
25 Il n’avait donc pas eu de relations avec elle quand elle mit au monde un fils; il lui donna le nom de Jésus.	25 He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.
