1 Voici le recensement des fils d’Israël, chefs de familles, chefs de mille et de cent, scribes au service du roi, selon leurs classes et selon la fonction qu’ils remplissaient chaque mois, tout au long de l’année: chaque groupe comptait 24 000 hommes.	1 This is the list of the people of Israel, the heads of fathers' houses, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who served the king in all matters concerning the divisions that came and went, month after month throughout the year, each division numbering twenty-four thousand:
2 Pour le premier mois, Yachobéam, fils de Zabdiel, était à la tête de la première division, il avait 24 000 hommes dans sa division.	2 Jashobeam the son of Zabdi-el was in charge of the first division in the first month; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
3 Il était l’un des fils de Pérès, chef de tous les officiers du premier mois.	3 He was a descendant of Perez, and was chief of all the commanders of the army for the first month.
4 Pour le second mois, Dodaï l’Ahohite, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	4 Dodai the Ahohite was in charge of the division of the second month; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
5 Pour le troisième mois, Bénayas, fils de Yoyada, le grand prêtre, avait sous ses ordres une division de 24 000 hommes.	5 The third commander, for the third month, was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, as chief; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
6 C’est Bénayas qui fut le héros des Trente et eut la responsabilité des Trente et de sa division; son fils s’appelait Amizabad.	6 This is the Benaiah who was a mighty man of the thirty and in command of the thirty; Ammizabad his son was in charge of his division.
7 Pour le quatrième mois, Azaël frère de Joab était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes; son fils Zébadya lui succéda.	7 Asahel the brother of Joab was fourth, for the fourth month, and his son Zebadiah after him; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
8 Pour le cinquième mois, l’officier Chamehout le Zarhite, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	8 The fifth commander, for the fifth month, was Shamhuth, the Izrahite; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
9 Pour le sixième mois, Ira fils d’Ikech, de Tékoa, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	9 Sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira, the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
10 Pour le septième mois, Hélès le Pélonite, l’un des fils d’Éphraïm, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	10 Seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
11 Pour le huitième mois, Sibékaï de Houcha, un Zarhite, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	11 Eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
12 Pour le neuvième mois, Abiézer d’Anatot, un Benjaminite, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	12 Ninth, for the ninth month, was Abi-ezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
13 Pour le dixième mois, Mahraï de Netofa, un Zarhite, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	13 Tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai of Netophah, of the Zerahites; in his division were twenty-four thousand.
14 Pour le onzième mois, Bénayas de Piréaton, un fils d’Éphraïm, était à la tête d’une division de 24 000 hommes.	14 Eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah of Pirathon, of the sons of Ephraim; in his division were twenty-four thousand.

16 Responsables des tribus d’Israël: Éliézer, fils de Zikri, était l’officier en chef des Rubénites, Chefatyas, fils de Maaka, celui des Siméonites,	16 Over the tribes of Israel, for the Reubenites Eliezer the son of Zichri was chief officer; for the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;

23 David ne compta pas ceux qui avaient 20 ans ou moins, puisque Yahvé avait promis de rendre Israël aussi nombreux que les étoiles du ciel.	23 David did not number those below twenty years of age, for the LORD had promised to make Israel as many as the stars of heaven.
24 Joab fils de Sérouya commença le recensement, mais il ne le termina pas car la colère de Dieu avait éclaté contre Israël. Le chiffre n’atteignit pas celui qui est inscrit dans le Livre des Chroniques du roi David.	24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but did not finish; yet wrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David.
25 Responsable des réserves du roi: Azmavèt, fils d’Adiel. Responsable des réserves dans les villes, les villages et les forteresses: Jonathan, fils d’Ozias.	25 Over the king's treasuries was Azmaveth the son of Adi-el; and over the treasuries in the country, in the cities, in the villages and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;
26 Responsable des travailleurs agricoles qui cultivaient la terre: Ezri, fils de Keloub.	26 and over those who did the work of the field for tilling the soil was Ezri the son of Chelub;
27 Responsable des vignobles: Chiméï, de Rama; responsable de ceux qui s’occupaient des réserves de vin: Zabdi, de Chéfam.	27 and over the vineyards was Shime-i the Ramathite; and over the produce of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite.
28 Responsable des oliviers et des sycomores dans le Bas-Pays: Baal-Hanan, de Guéder. Responsable des réserves d’huile: Yoach.	28 Over the olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the stores of oil was Joash.
29 Responsable du gros bétail dans les pâturages en Saron: Chitraï, de Saron. Responsable du gros bétail dans les vallées: Chafat, fils d’Adlaï.	29 Over the herds that pastured in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; over the herds in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai.
30 Responsable des chameaux: Obil l’Ismaélite. Responsable des ânesses: Yédéyas, de Méronot.	30 Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the she-asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite. Over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.
31 Responsable du petit bétail: Yaziz le Hagrite. Ils étaient tous surveillants des biens du roi David.	31 All these were stewards of King David's property.
32 Yonathan, oncle de David, était un conseiller plein d’intelligence et d’instruction. Yéhiel, fils de Hakmoni était chargé de l’éducation des fils du roi.	32 Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counselor, being a man of understanding and a scribe; he and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni attended the king's sons.
33 Ahitofel était conseiller du roi. Houchaï l’Arkite était un ami très proche du roi.	33 Ahithophel was the king's counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend.
34 Yoyada, fils de Bénayas, et Ébyatar succédèrent à Ahitofel. Joab était le commandant en chef de l’armée du roi.	34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was commander of the king's army.
